+Geekanoids It has been a long while since I lost shot anything on a Sony camera - (last time was DVCAM) but would look at this camera. The other camera I am seriously considering although much more in price is the JVC GY-HM200 as I like JVC in general (have five of their GY-110 cameras) for multicam live streaming.
I am only watching on a QHD screen, but for a camera that has a small sensor, its impressive. Nice and sharp, colors and brightness look good too as does the focus. Looks quite clean too, did you notice much noise? Most smaller sensor camcorders I have used in the past have been prone to it easily.
The quality of the images are great, However I tend to see a yawing side to side especially in the harbour shots - I'm guessing that's the stabiliser kicking in, I think I'd rather have the movement that's more natural than see the fixed up affects. Overall impressive though
Impressive. The images were sharp and crisp even on the edges. A bit of wobble during the shot by the harbor maybe the stabilizer is a bit too sensitive. Colors looked really good, a bit soft but that might be due to the overcast day. Considering the size of the sensor this camcorder performed really well, nice and fluid. Excellent video Dave.
Hi... Please excuse me if these are stupid questions... I'm just wondering a few things. 1) Does the Sony FDR-AX53 have a mic jack? 2) Is the Sony FDR-AX53 limited when it comes to recording times? For example, I was told that DSLR's are limited to something like 30 minutes of continuous shooting. 3) In terms of video quality, would you say the Sony FDR-AX53 is superior to the Vixia G40? Thanks :D
Thank you, sir... I decided to pick one up last month, and I love it. The only thing I don't like is that when panning, the stabilization system seems to fight the movement, and it ends up being a little jumpy. Overall a great camera though.
Would i be able to edit movies from the camcorder in iMovie on my iMac.I have'nt got a 4K TV but I'm sure the full hd is better than the Sony camcorder I have at the minute.
I know but that is something we can only dream of. I edited a video of drone footage. It wasn't that long but it took me 12 hours. I despair of ever getting a better service. I know that most people in rural areas around the world will have similar problems. Until the infrastructure catches up 4k is only a dream.
I hope you can. answer these questions. I started using the Ax53 about 1 week ago. I have a very steady hand and a good eye. I am just getting used to this camera. During playback, looking through the camera's LCD monitor, the video quality looked excellent. But, when I downloaded the video through Sony's Play Memories onto my computer, the quality did not look as good, and not that much better than my old Canon 230.00 Dec. 2015 HD camera. Really. I was surprised. I am watching the video on my computer, a Jan,. 2015 Dell top of line XPS 15. It is Quad HD, not 4k. Does Play Memories degrade the video quality? Can I download the video directly onto my computer from the 64 gb Sony card by just popping in the video card into the video card slot without Play Memories? Is it important to "Format" the Sony memory card first before I film, cause I never did that. Thank you. I dont want to return the camera, but I was hoping for that blazingly clear video image that I would expect from a camera of this nature. THank you for your answers in advance. Best,
Thank you so much. I am hearing the same thing from everybody about Sony's play memories. It seems to be causing a slight degradation in the quality of the video. I will download directly via placing the memory card directly into my computer . Best to you and happy holidays.
The autofocus on tea bag not bad at all :)
+swizeus Thanks.
I have been viewing a few videos of material shot on this camera, and it looks to be a very nice 4K option, especially for the price.
+greenscreenproducer It performs great, not so well in low light.

+DynamixWarePro thanks for the feedback. Noise does creep in during low light but daylight and with studio lights the performance is great.
Nice to see a dedicated camcorder once in a while.
+doctormac123 Oh yes :D and this one performs very well indeed :D

+ProCopyAustralia1 Yes, I see that too, most likely down to the stabiliser and small sensor.
Looks already good at 1080p.. Damn think it's time to get a 4K TV.
+shaolindreams :D sounds like a great plan :D
What a great camera this is! Nice video Dave :)
+Alex Anderson Thanks Alex. Latest Olympus video was recorded with this.

+Darren Gator thanks Darren, this was all handheld too.

Hello, did you use 60MBPS or 100MBPS? Also was the camera set to automatic?
100Mbps and auto.

+Gashead Steve Thank you Steve :D:D:D
Nice video do you use FCPX and do you export directly from FCPX.
+Paul Allen Yes on both counts.

+Dogtown16v Yes.
Auto focus is on point...
+Luis Robles Agreed :D
It tends to blow out the highlights.
+perfectforehand agreed it does. Pretty sure the HDR will sort that.
it's playing in 360p , so nothing to see here. I changed the settings to hd and it's blurred. Until the internet gets sorted we can't benefit.
+yellowlabrador 4K is processed so on a fast connection should playback fine.

Not bad at all really Dave :)

I would try downloading direct to your video editor on the computer, not using the app.
