Great video and as always, great content. It just so happens I'm getting a press from LCA for Fathers day, and I cant wait to give my factory 😞 string a half twist or more. My peep rotation is ridiculous, and VERY annoying.

Thx, I appreciate the advise. Just bought new bow, was doing good, then all of a sudden my groups getting farther left of target and noticed the peep was off.
Thanks brother. Helpful video. My peep started rotating recently and it’s driving me nuts.
I haven’t even bought my first bow yet (looking at the Hoyt Torrey XT) but I’ve watched a bunch of your vids. Sub’d. Cheers from Wake county, NC.

How bout the Bowmar Peep Tuner ?
Nice thx for the information.....
I'm just dealing with it
fix that sucker - TC
Good stuff, thanks!
Glad you liked it! -DS
Those last chance archery presses are pricey. But after looking at it it is a very simple build, made out of square tubing and I'm going to build one and Tig weld the whole thing. Sweet video.
Great video 👌
Thanks for the advice!
Happy to help!
@@ElkShape it helped, much appreciated.
Great content.
thank you!
Love this channel, just subscribed and a little bit of constructive criticism. If youre ganna tell people to press their bow and add twists to their strings, you should include like what the twists do and what direction. Like if you have left or right peep twist. Do you need to twist your strings left or right. Other than that this channel is great dude. Keep growing !
Yeah that is constructive - thanks for the sub
Good tip!
Holy snap. You have the exact same strings as me.. pine ad natural. Lol
Sweet. Huge fan brother.. 👏
Awesome video
Thanks, I own a APA bow, never worked on it myself but I may just try that now. Only question is which way do you twist or untwist..
Freaking awesome buddy
I want a press. Although being quote new to archery I like going to the pro shop I learn something new every time I go.
definitely
After watching multiple multiple videos on the new V3 x and your heavily phrased hamski rest specifically the epsilon I went to my local shop but a bowl ask them to put on the hamski rest and they told me it will not fit with the detachable quiver. At that point I had to settle for the qad, after looking at multiple videos I found one that you had to add spacers and you used the side mount spot hog site I believe or you cut your dovetail off. I wish you would have mentioned that it would not work with the detachable quiver I would not have put so much time so much time into researching the hamski as much as I did. I do appreciate most of your video content
You can always carry a portable press like the one from synonm that works off of rope pulling instead of turning a handle if it becomes an issue in the field.
A person can get away with using this press as a dedicated press.
typically happens depending how the serving is wrapped. Too tight causes a string twist underneath the serving. Tip: serve with tension without allowing twist underneath and in the same direction as the string twist. Any material can be made to stay straight. It really is how it was made.
These guys from Podium are the best
Amazing!!!!!
Thank you! Cheers! -DS
Great video. How do u like that hamskea raptor peep? Thanks
Peep rotation cost me a few elk. I learned how to shoot with out it. One less thing to worry about now. DONE!!! Now to learn to shoot without a site.
Two questions, what do you think about using a small piece of d loop material in string above peep and moving that up or down to realign peep or secondly a peep tuner button
Good anchor form.
For those looking to go the "ghetto" route and not spend several hundred, you can get cable bow press. It's not nearly as nice as the Last Chance and it can be a little fiddly but it works. I have a Bowmaster g2 press. The nice thing about it is that it's portable, so it lives in my bow bag, that way if I'm at the range and need to make an adjustment I can do it right there.
Used my bowmaster lastnight to install a new set of custom strings,, great bit of kit.
A bow press was very intimidating until I saw this video thanks a lot my dude
it's doable!
Hunted for years like over 15 years always used a tubed peep never had a problem with peep twist so everyone say peep tubes are for beginners so I got a new string and decided was a good time to try a peep without a tube and now what a pain in the a$$ I am constantly dealing with twist in my peep 😡 very tempted to go back to what worked .
Helpful
Thanks G
....I still use the old rubber tube on my peep lol. Tried and true, works great, never have to worry about rotation. Pulls it straight every time.
I'm new to the archery game and have a new PSE. I'm getting ridiculous peep rotation. Annoying to say the least. An archery shop offered tying in the tube but I'm hoping things will work themselves out on their own as I put more arrows through it. Idk though.
@@fhpd350 my first bow was a bowtech and the stock string sucked. It would rotate 90 degrees no matter what I did.
@@fhpd350 The stock string on my PSE stinger never stopped spinning. New string seems to have solved it.
The real quick cheat slide your string silencers a bit. Just make sure they stay clear of your cams. Works way better than twisting the D-loop and no press required. If that won't get it you need to throw in a twist.
Cool - thanks for the info!
When you make your twist are you twisting them to tighten the cable, loosen the cable, or are you twisting them both the same direction as the peep needs to be turned?
instablaster...
I tend to have the most problems with Zebra strings with peep rotation. I just got a knew bow and im fighting it right now
Line your D-loop up with the peep and it'll help it draw back lined up more often then not. As much as I don't miss the little rubber tubes they did a fairly good job of keeping your peep coming back lined up.
I love the little rubber tube peeps have them on several of my Bows, I also have a couple without.
You do know the rubber tube and peep are still on the market ?
@@cericson3426same here , I don’t use them in every bow but once my strings get a little older I’ll add it just to get another couple years out of the strings , probably would t be the best option for fixed head guys but shooting mechanical it’s not a big deal with timing being off a smidge
when you twist the string does it effect your sights? like will your pins be off?
Have you experimented with clarifiers or verifiera any? Whats your opinion?
Thanks for the help.
I just had the pro shop install a new string on my V3 27", and the peep turns on my drawback.
Mine twist after I shoot. Mine is the one with the rubber cord that turns out when you draw back. But if I keep shooting with out adjusting I have to untie the rubber piece get it set right and retie it
Thanks Dan for the peep tune and by the way peeps is Easter Candy Chicks also
peeps...
@@ElkShape Yeah look it up they are yellow marshmallow in the shape of a baby chicken sold as Easter candy for Kids called PEEP'S
I have my hamskea peep setup centered when I draw with the sight set at 40 yards. When I set my sight at 10 yards or 70+ yards the peep is no longer centered on my scope housing. From your videos I’ve seen you frequently shooting at variable distances out to 100+ yards. Is your peep centered when you’re shooting very short or very long distances?
Question? When adjusting the peep rotation is it just the nearest cam that gets the twist or both?
I blur the target and focus on my pin my mind knows where to aim by doing this two things halon my pin really sits still and if I focus on target and not pin my pin will tend to float below the target not saying that’s right or wrong just what I have found works for me
I've always been hesitant to working on my own bow but would like to start an amateur bow shop as you stated so thank you for the content. One question though. When I took my bow to get tuned (Matthews VXR 28) they turned the bow to make sure the strings are touching the cams stops (nomenclature?) at the same time. By adjusting the strings you pointed out, does that mess with the timing at all? Also, can you just twist the top for alignment or can you twist the bottom too? TYIA
From my understanding, if you mess with the strings but not the cables you're timing shouldn't be effected. -DS
a lil tip that i did in the field that a friend showed me was to take a toothpick if u happen to have one,,,insert it thru the string below the peep then very slightly slide it up or down and it will slightly move the twists in the string and align your peep..you of course cut or break off the excess toothpick and its just a quick fix in the field and only for a very small amount of peep rotation but it def works

Thanks G
To what degree will doing this affect the tune of my bow? I've been shooting despite the little rotation (not from stretch in the 400 arrow range cause I'm actually about 10k in, but rather a redone center serving). Reason I ask is cause I just tuned the bow money and don't have a ton of time to retune with grad school keeping me busy.
Typically doesn't.. but always worth shooting through paper to check - TC
Hey dan man, do you have a video of your press set up? I’m buying a lca press what would I need to set it up?
I think in the Bow Build series episode 1 -DS. PS - congrats!
what is an "amateur pro shop" jk i know what you mean. this video was very helpful that you for passing along the info. i will check out last chance archery for a vise.
Always struggle with the focus on the target concept, in the firearm world they always say to focus on the front sight
Are you guys running the hamskey peep or is that a different one?
I know this is an old video but here goes. My peep is slightly turned to the left with my new string. I always shoot about 50 arrows before installing the peep but i did not this time. I always see videos saying to put the bow in a press and rotate the string a half of a turn at the bottom to fine tune a close to correct peep. I pulled my bow back and had my wife twist the string a quarter turn as I was letting down. It worked and has held up for 50 to 60 shots. Is this not the equivalent of twisting the string 1/2 turn while on a press?
