It’s shocking to me that these dudes are still basically an “underground” band. They’re so amazing at what they do. Once you listen to Soulive once you’re a fan!
much love and respect for these cats,,,,keep on keepin on Soulive!!! was this as The Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg...too cool ya'll...Me and Father Mackenzie gonna have a beer with Eleanor....ya hurd...smile
Amazing stuff. I used to see the Evans brothers when they were in The Groove and Moon boot live . Great dudes and phenomenal players . Plus i saw Soulive in Vail 20 years later and they remembered me :)
Believe it or not, third minute aprox, solo goes Iron Maiden Style, intro of a maiden song called wasted years from the Somewhere in Time album, hehe, it's a fact, i'm not the only jazz musitian who's also a metalhead, digs funk, soul etc. Like george clinton said, who says a Jazz band, can't play dance, or rock, or funk? Hehe, cool!
@abullonparade1 It sounds perfect in person, just because the sheer volume of it means there's no need for extra gain. This recording is missing a little piece of his tone. I love his tone personally. I try to recreate the amount of shred he dishes out while remaining clean.
@blkbrd117 that SUCKS. I guess the half full glass is she did it doing something she loves? Is it insensitive to ask which song caused the funk explosion?
been listening to these guys since 2004. Filthy musicians. Neal Evans absolutely is a monster on keys/organs. He's even more amazing when you see him live.
@DanielBascom umm i said "i think his guitar tone needs work" which yes, this is true...you see you are not a master of people's thoughts, so you cannot control my thoughts to think that his guitar tone is perfect...yes he's good and its not a bad sound, but imho, i'm not a fan of his tone
It’s shocking to me that these dudes are still basically an “underground” band. They’re so amazing at what they do. Once you listen to Soulive once you’re a fan!
Love these guys have some a their albums
instablaster
Seen them 4 times and Lettuce (their other band) twice. And yes loved them since like 2001.
Real musicians playing real music, unfortunately that has become a niche in today’s world.
the drummer is a beast!
The drummer and jguy on keys are brother . The Evans brothers. Top notch my friend
Heck of a way to cover The Beatles' music. Really nice sound and I'd never heard of these guys before.!!
Just absolute musical bliss. I slip into another world when i hear this. Kras is so smooth and the brothers are so tight it's like they share a brain.
Wow! HOW had I not heard of Soulive before- and I live in Upstate New York!
Love Soulive ever since we saw them at Ronnie Scott's in 2012
Masters of their craft. Love these guys.
Blimey, that fellas left hand's an awesome bass player!
Listened about 10 times in a row & i go on, again & again... So f....; good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm spending the rest of my iTunes money on this. Somehow I know it will be worth it. I haven't finished watching this video yet.
I'm a drummer. After watching this guy I won't pick up another pair of Vaters ever.
Let me know if it makes any immediate difference.
It's math, Swami!!!! You can do it! Do it, Swami style!!!!!! Groove on!

@07millsy
It was lost ages ago. Don't blame it on these guys, they did it well.
The add placement on this was so trash.. it. It. .. hurt my soul. Dang RUclips..
But in 2023, I still listen to this greatness. 🎉

SHIT YEAH!!!
and Lenny Kravitz on keyboard
There is a cool new version of Eleanor Rigby by Voltaire 7. Check it out on Voltaire 7 website or itunes
lol at the russian jumper video on the tv
Eric Krasno is so nasty. Love this band. 20 years just tossing them on and seeing them here and there (and everywhere).
@soocool78 I agree, he could use a little more distortion/sustain when he uses the wah pedal.
@McFunkenstein
Yes it was.
That was awesome, particularly the 2nd Beatles cover. Crowd seemed a little low on that though...
the best part is the dudes doing ninja flips on the tv in the back
+1 if you've moved your feet at a Soulive show.
Lenny on keys!
DVD ASAP ($ in hand)
@abullonparade1 It sounds perfect in person, just because the sheer volume of it means there's no need for extra gain. This recording is missing a little piece of his tone. I love his tone personally. I try to recreate the amount of shred he dishes out while remaining clean.
lol the venue is actually owned by the band I believe. It's a bowling alley/ music hall
Alan Evans new name is Frobama.
the base comes from the hammond b3 organ
Pardon my ignorance but how is the band name pronounced? Live as in to be living or live as in live music?
***** The live thing is about live music I guess, not as the name of the band itself.
Garrett Carrico always thought it was soul-LIE-ve because when you say it right it sounds like so alive
@rockilikepie haha i agree never danced so hard in my life
I Want you starts at 4:54
They destroy this, as per usual. Go see them live and stretch because you can pull something dancing as hard as you will.
anyone notice the guy ride up a tree on the tv at about 9 minutes in!?
actually comes from the Bass Keys.
@blkbrd117 that SUCKS. I guess the half full glass is she did it doing something she loves? Is it insensitive to ask which song caused the funk explosion?
awesome Lenny kravitz at the Hammond
Ha Sam RP in the front row!
rubbersoulive
never heard soulive until just now... makes me think, "what the fuck have i been doing with my life?"
haha. i think the keyboardist is playing it with his left hand. kinda funny though.
How does he make the keyboard sound so much like bass?
Elad Gurewitz remember me of sound the keyboard of The Doors
This may rival Pat Metheny's And I Love Her and Mehldau's Blackbird for my favorite Beatles cover.
lol at random tv with beach/playground parkour
been listening to these guys since 2004. Filthy musicians. Neal Evans absolutely is a monster on keys/organs. He's even more amazing when you see him live.
Go to 9:06 to see the best funk face in the business!
I guess that the sound comes from the keyboards...
@danjmcl the best part is the Holy Trinity on Stage~!
