so i had the song in my head and wanted to hear it, only no one had the mtv video on the site. either i'm going to hell for this or i'm gonna make someone's day
The 80s represent that warm and fuzzy feeling of all the possibilities of a promising future because most of us were in junior high or high school. That's why songs like this and others remain so special.
This song had one of the most recognizable melodies of the 80's. My brother had the casette tape of "Tenderness" and it had some pretty neat songs on it. This also came out at the time when MTV was actually worth watching...as in, when it played MUSIC instead of the reality show crap it plays today. 80's music was awesome, and the 80's were a great time to be alive. LONG LIVE THE 80'S!!!!
the 1st time i heard this song i was 15yrs old back in 1985. and i've always liked it since then. now i'm 38 and it still sounds good as it did back then kudos.
Man I heard this on Clueless movie I fell in love I had to find it man this is some feel good ass music lets go back in time for this I hate a lot of music today and im 25 and I hear the difference with music kewl man wow !
Sheels1976, I was born almost at the end of the 80's, and man oh man! I wish i was born early, to enjoy this great era! I DAMN love the 80's music! . Long Live The 80's!!!!
Table 19 brought me here! So glad I was watching that movie tonight and heard this song which takes me back! Love this song! Thank you for the reminder....Table 19!!!
Pop music, rock music, heavy metal, power metal, power ballads, excess in everything, movies, parties, concerts... man! The 80s rocked more than anything! I used to think that maybe it was just me getting old and just remembering the 80s too fondly, but many young guys love 80s music and movies, and have told me they wish they had been able to experience that wonderful decade. So, maybe they really rocked!
Woke up with this tune bouncing in my head this morning -- needed to hear it bad. Don't know about the "going to hell" thing, but you sure made my day. Thanks for locating + uploading.
@germanicelt "Got its sound." Very well put. Here I thought that I was the only one who recognized '82 as being the key year of '80s music "getting its sound". That's when the "Thriller" album came out; although, I realize there was so much than that. British New Wave bands were exploding in popularity, which is what I loved and why I'm here. My favorite year for '80's albums is definitely '83, which was the peak for great music of that decade, in my opinion.
No Way! You definetly get a "go pass hell" ticket for putting this up! This is such a great song, I'm bummed that I didn't get to see them last summer. Hopefully I will get another chance down the road! You made my day, thanks for posting this lil'gem!;)
seeing this video made my day like up until a couple days ago when i was flippin through channels and happened to come across VH1 when they were doing that one hit wonders thing i completely forgot about this song
Thanks for posting this! I'm glad I kept searching for this even though I couldn't find it a while back. And like Sly Fox, King's X, Van Halen, Thomas Dolby and probably others, I see the video includes the "kids implied to be the band as boys" theme.
RJW27, right you are. This song was on Weird Science long before Clueless was even thought about, in '85 to be exact. Weird Science is one of my favorite movies from the 80's, instant classic !
Aah, ah, ah, oh Aah, aah, aah, oh I don't know where to start or where to stop My luck's like a button I can't stop pushing it My head feels light But I'm still in the dark Seems like without tenderness there's something missing Tenderness, where is the Tenderness, where is it I don't know where I am but I know I don't like it I open my mouth and out pops something spiteful Words are so cheap But they can turn out expensive Words like conviction can turn into a sentence I held your hands Rings but none on that finger We danced and danced But I was scared to go much further with it Just half a chance Make sure that one night you're here but Next night you're not It always leaves me searching for a little Tenderness, tenderness, tenderness, where is the tenderness Whistling in the graveyard Calling up your girlfriend Just trying to make her understand You're squeezing the telephone like it was her hand No question So many questions She's going to catch you out boy It all seems so underhand Now she's the only thing that ever made you feel like a man, man Madman madman Where is the tenderness, the tenderness Where is the tenderness, the tenderness, where is it I held your hands Rings but none on that finger We danced and danced But I was scared to go much further with it Just half a chance Make sure that one night you're here but Next night you're not It always leaves me searching for a little Tenderness, tenderness, tenderness, tenderness Tenderness, tenderness, tenderness, tenderness Tenderness, tenderness, tenderness, tenderness Tenderness, tenderness, tenderness, tenderness Songwriters: Mick Billingham / Roger Charlery / David Wakeling
Theri music reminds me my teenae years in Puerto Rico. Thanks you for posting this video. I would love to see the video of thier son called Come Again. It is live if my memory does not fail me. Awesome groupp
This song plays at the end of one of my favourite movies 'Clueless', just watched it for the irst time in ages, always end up singing this for days!! :D
I empathise with you, and I was only ten. I wish the 80's continued right into the 90's, but instead like a decade after this song music had turned dark and kind of reflected the mood of people. I am still pissed that the golden years of my youth was dulled by that time.
I love that the UFC fans are here. I saw it, too, and visited because of that reason. In my opinion, that was the best song intro in UFC history! Great juxtaposition, with his wild hair and tattoos!
Just saw a short Target commercial with this song. There was actually another Target commercial that used another 80's song. Lately a lot of commercials from big retailers like Target and JC Penneys have been featuring classic 80's new wave tunes to market to the young customers. Makes sense cuz I think the early and mid 80's produced the best music for youth. They don't usually use 60's, 70's or 90's it's usually fun 80's tunes.
In reards to VagabundoR6, I agree with you. I graduated in 1985. That was the height of the whole '80s culture and music thing. After that the '80s actually went down hill. Live Aid was the '80s swan song so to speak. I remember seeing MTV when it first launched in the Summer of 1981. I was impressed. Loved it. If I recall correctly by about 1987 or 1987 they started having MTV spring break then game shows and Real World and it went all out the window by then. Party over as we knew it.
Wow...taking me back! Back in the day! Those were the days! Good times! Good times!....and no 'effin American Idol to bollocks up the whole music scene! Music was pure unlike today's rehashed, regurgitated scene. 80s were RAD!
This reminds me so much of my best friend K, and our time living together. We had so much fun, as well our bad times (my leaving the six pack "plastic rings" in the fridge). the curtains we put up the night before her wedding (won't the wrinkles just "hang out?" NO!!!)....lmfao!!! Love ya K...good times!! the mariachi man, punching nun puppet??!! And remember, the backporch when you and Chris were checking out the firefighters next door?? lmfao!!!
Man, I worshipped my walkman in those days. I have 200 casette tapes from the 80s & 90s. And now I need to transfer ALL that magnetic tape to digital!! Crap!
smokedogrp3007, not only will you NOT be going to hell, but you've DEFINITELY made SEVERAL people's day. I should know, since I'm one of them. P.S. Thank you for posting the video to a song I was not able to find anywhere else on the internet .....
Wicked! I was actually a 90's teen but this song is so great, it was used in one of the best brat pack films ever made 'Wierd Science'. I sould have been an 80's teen in some respects. Life was easier then!
He Arkaydy, I am with you man!!! This song is so cool, have it on tape somewhere. It has something melancolic. First time I ever saw this video, even while I am on internet more then 15 years!!!!
This song brings back so many memories, but this song first was heard on the Wierd Science movie, cluless was second. I guess that is why it is so hard to except MIcheal Jacksons death as well, even with all the bad things that happened, he was part of the 80's as well. Rest in peace to MJ and keep the 80's in your memories and heart, Generation X, we grew up in one of the best decades ever.
I find the tune so light and exuberant, yet the lyrics are so discordent with such anxt. Yet it doesn't seem really that desperate a lovers situation. Funny and yet it works. Mostly because of how joyful in tone the song is despite the lovers trouble in the lyrics. I wonder if a song that effectively fun yet confusing could be marketed today.
For such a happy fun song, these guys sure don't smile much, do they? Almost like being straight-faced while riding a jet ski, right? But boy, they sure could dance. Thank god for the 80's.
You've certainly made my day! I was searching for this song for ages until I closely listened to it a couple years ago in Goodwill. Also, I'm a Millennial and heard it during my early childhood and early teenage years, and I finally got it. Music was actually good rather than stupid drugs, murder, money, sex, and plain sin. Thank you!
I LOVE THIS SONG :) glad i found it on here, makes me feel so happy & cheerful, i fell inlove with it because of the ending of clueless.. i know it was played in wierd science aswel, bt i love cluless =]
This song is played in the background at the penultimate scene in Weird Science starring Kelly Le Brock. Never knew it was Dave Wakeling and Rankin Roger.
My favorite song from the 80's!!!! Loved it in Weird Science and the end of Clueless! Love it in general :-)
Great song from a simpler time. Made my day

What a great song from the 80's! Brings back some really happy memories of those days, like summer of 1985 down on Cape Cod.
Pop music, rock music, heavy metal, power metal, power ballads, excess in everything, movies, parties, concerts... man! The 80s rocked more than anything!
I used to think that maybe it was just me getting old and just remembering the 80s too fondly, but many young guys love 80s music and movies, and have told me they wish they had been able to experience that wonderful decade.

when mtv was actually excellent, nowadays it's all about realities and tv shit
Jorge Esquivia Escobar that is very true.. MTV should just retire itself
Technically it's not Music Television. Just MTV and most of it stinks.
I love this song way back then...some 20 plus years ago...it still makes me dance..
I hear you brother...I miss the 80s too! Great times, great music.
My sister and I saw them on concert back in 85 the best concert I have ever been to.
Woke up with this tune bouncing in my head this morning -- needed to hear it bad. Don't know about the "going to hell" thing, but you sure made my day. Thanks for locating + uploading.
Awesome good old times! Saw them at the Oakland back in the day!

You made my day. I turned 38 today, and I try real hard to think this video only came out a couple years ago....don't get old. It blows. :)
Yeah, this made my day. For some reason, this song cannot be found anywhere without having to actually get the CD (no itunes for this)
RJW27, right you are. This song was on Weird Science long before Clueless was even thought about, in '85 to be exact. Weird Science is one of my favorite movies from the 80's, instant classic !
Aah, ah, ah, oh
Aah, aah, aah, oh
I don't know where to start or where to stop
My luck's like a button
I can't stop pushing it
My head feels light
But I'm still in the dark
Seems like without tenderness there's something missing
Tenderness, where is the
Tenderness, where is it
I don't know where I am but I know I don't like it
I open my mouth and out pops something spiteful
Words are so cheap
But they can turn out expensive
Words like conviction can turn into a sentence
I held your hands
Rings but none on that finger
We danced and danced
But I was scared to go much further with it
Just half a chance
Make sure that one night you're here but
Next night you're not
It always leaves me searching for a little
Tenderness, tenderness, tenderness, where is the tenderness
Whistling in the graveyard
Calling up your girlfriend
Just trying to make her understand
You're squeezing the telephone like it was her hand
No question
So many questions
She's going to catch you out boy
It all seems so underhand
Now she's the only thing that ever made you feel like a man, man
Madman madman
Where is the tenderness, the tenderness
Where is the tenderness, the tenderness, where is it
I held your hands
Rings but none on that finger
We danced and danced
But I was scared to go much further with it
Just half a chance
Make sure that one night you're here but
Next night you're not
It always leaves me searching for a little
Tenderness, tenderness, tenderness, tenderness
Tenderness, tenderness, tenderness, tenderness
Tenderness, tenderness, tenderness, tenderness
Tenderness, tenderness, tenderness, tenderness
Songwriters: Mick Billingham / Roger Charlery / David Wakeling

saludos de PERU.
Seems like yesterday when I first heard it.Yes time go by fast.
Yeah, I remember this song from the 80's. I'm glad he played it now it's in my alternative playlist.
You are right. The style of music really changed in '93. I was so depressing. And '82 was when the 80s got its sound with bands like Duran Duran.
Word! That's exactly what I was like back then, too. And people who were older used to put down '80's music as crappy, saying past music was better.
This reminds me so much of my best friend K, and our time living together. We had so much fun, as well our bad times (my leaving the six pack "plastic rings" in the fridge). the curtains we put up the night before her wedding (won't the wrinkles just "hang out?" There is real joy in this one. Dave is an original singer, songwriter and is enormously underrated. Brings back great memories of those club days...:)
Brings back fond memories. You made my day. Thanks

Even if don't like this particular genre of music, if you're honest, you've got to admit, this is a great song !
You know,it wasn't a big hit in America in the 80's.But now, when I go to clubs that had a 80's night, this song go over HUGE!!!
Nice song.
Estuve buscando esta cancion por dos años..
GRacias por ponerla ^^
I find the tune so light and exuberant, yet the lyrics are so discordent with such anxt. Yet it doesn't seem really that desperate a lovers situation. Funny and yet it works. You just made my day :-)! Any other classic videos keep 'em coming :-)
Been blasting this in my truck for the last couple of days - always reminds me of Target for some reason. :)
OMG you totally made my day!!!
:)
This is my favorite song EVER, thank you so much. I was sad when it was pulled.
Remember the time when MTV actually meant "MUSIC Television"? This was one of my favorites from the 80's. My brother had the tape this song was from.
I love this song,
it was at the ending of the movie "clueless"
thanks
This song is played in the background at the penultimate scene in Weird Science starring Kelly Le Brock. Never knew it was Dave Wakeling and Rankin Roger.
definitely a making my day three minutes and forty-five seconds! thanks!
