I couldn't agree with you more, Mark Hamer. This great song along with so many other great hits from the '80s definitely sounds much better than a lot of the so-called music we hear today. The music we heard back in the days when "Love Plus One" by Haircut 💯 first came out sounds like music that was properly written, whereas today's pop music sounds more like a random collection of bits & pieces thrown together in just 5 minutes to meet an urgent deadline. Mark Hamer, you sound like you have great taste in music and you know great music when you hear it. Rock on, buddy!!😀🎸😃🎸
These dudes, man. Having so much fun. Smiling, dancing, enjoying the music! None of this serious, plaid-shirt wearing, beard-sporting, brooding, experimental, "I'm-a-musician" bollocks. This is nothing will ever surpass the 80s - fun, joy, splendid melodies, expertly-crafted singles.
Whoever said the eighties were awful obviously weren't there.Everthing about the eighties l loved. Even unemployment because l got to work in the USA for a while. And the Music will always be there for everyone to enjoy.
I used to play this for my daughter when she was very young and I would twirl her off the ground holding her wrists, the rest of her body flying as we were spinning. And now she's in her 20s and told me she wants this to be our father-daughter dance when she gets married.
In 1982 I would play this gem at my Fraternaties weekend bashes. The ladies just loved it and asked me to keep repeating Love Plus One..The 2nd story dance floor was actually shaking! Ahh great memories of being 21 in 1982...RR
And this sublime slice of lush pop was considered no so serious in its day. Imagine supposedly disposable pop sounding THIS GOOD. The 80s were peak pop - it doesn't get better than this. I almost entirely ignored this song when it was a ‘thing’, but now I totally appreciate the brilliance of this song, and especially Nick’s cheeky skills in front of the camera. Thank you, fellas 😊
Still remember seeing this for the first time as a 12-year-old on an afternoon video show (for those of us who didn't have MTV). It was such a fresh change for me both sonically and visually from the heavy long-haired hippy vibe of the 1970s. It and other music from this era really had a big impact on a young preppy kid. Felt like a new era, which in a way I suppose it was.
This and The Lotus Eaters First Picture of You were the sound track to my first love. I was in my late teens. She was blissfully unaware. I left home for the RAF, knowing full well I would never quite get over it. I'm 60 now, and I was right. I've never got over it. Love hurts.
My friend still giggles that I liked this song, when I go over to his house, he will loop this song for an hour, I was in the 80's back in the 80's he was punk.
+Lisa D. Oh god yeah! There's way more to it than that. This present era is caustic. It needs an enema. A release. "Social media" has replaced actually going out! I'm just glad I know the difference, because what passes for social anything these days isn't cutting it with me.
You are so right! Teenagers these days think being social revolves around cellphones which they are slaves to - without even realising it. They even text each other when they are in the same room! No smartphones, Facebook, twitter, etc was needed in the '80's, and we had even more fun!
This was absolutely one if my favorites. I miss the world and music of the 80's. I was so young. This one makes me have bittersweet memories. I can't comprehend being almost 64 in a month. Great music❤❤❤
I'll be 60 next year! When did THAT happen? I embraced all the years inbetween and I'm still having a laugh even now. I hope you have a great birthday Sharon. *hug*
I grew up surrounded with music. My parents were huge classical fans as well as Gilbert & Sullivan etc and they were involved with a church were they ran a lot of fellowship for young & teenagers etc so I was exposed to the music of people who were up to 10 to 15 years older . So I grew up with the 60’s & 70’s and come the 80’s I was 19 and lived through one of the most amazing decades of music the world has ever seen with so many amazing artists with the whole range of talents and personalities to the max. I am a life long lover and addict of good music and I have every record / cd I have ever bought over the years. The only original stuff that I had that I no longer have was my record collection of music bought from the “import” record stores in Sydney which were stolen after a break in which included all of Elton Johns record up to 1979 thankfully I eventually was able to buy them again but they were not the original pressings which is a bit of a bummer. Long live the music from the 80’s !!! 🇦🇺❤️🇦🇺❤️🇦🇺❤️
It's September 13, 2023, and this is the first time I've ever heard this song, and I'm now a huge fan of this music group. I want to hear more songs from these guys.

One of my most favorite songs from the 80's, along with ABC's The Look Of Love. :)
OMG, yes. Or Be Near Me.❤
I almost entirely ignored this song when it was a ‘thing’, but now I totally appreciate the brilliance of this song, and especially Nick’s cheeky skills in front of the camera.
I'm a Punk, and I like this song.
The 80's were such a fun, carefree time. But maybe it's just me. I was in highschool then.
they were really the best of times I was clubbing and drive inn dancing women mates the best of times
It was! I lived through it too. So different than today. Smartphones? No. Facebook? Nope. But life felt so much alive.
***** Yes, maybe because people talked face to face? But I think there's more to it than just that.
Lovely, wonderful song and video. 80s, musically such an unbelievably eclectic and unique time never to be equaled or repeated, sadly.
*hug*
I'm an 80's kid and I Love to run to this. Thank you Haircut 100 for making this amazing track; its part of my life.
One of the best hits out of the early 80's.....fantastic!!!
yes superb like everybody wants to rule the world , there are no songs today as good as these or close , though Pink is good , like her song Try
And don't forget"my every changing mood"
WHEN MTV WAS AMAZING!!!
definitely dear.
When they actually played music videos!!!!!!!
We didn't have our MTV until I was in college. I saw this well before that on HBO's little "Video Jukebox" filler.
When MTV showed videos
Everything But Music Channel.
I would give anything to turn the clock back to the early 80s. The music was wonderful, I was fit, young and strong. Life was great.
Who is listening to this during the Coronas lock down in 2020!

It's September 13, 2023, and this is the first time I've ever heard this song, and I'm now a huge fan of this music group. I want to hear more songs from these guys.
The whole album has this vibe! 💃🏻 🎉
Research Nick Heyward---- He was /is lead singer of Haircut 100 and luckily still alive !
Another overlooked band (same era) is Bow wow wow 'Do you wanna hold me' check ✔️ it
nah, nither band was ever overlooked, not if you were a teenager with access to MTV in the 1980's. But as far as history goes I get your meaning @@lancetranter5695
@@lancetranter5695 bww was great and she's still beautiful!
After all these years I still love it..I pull it up every so often it just reminds me of how care free the 80' were

I can't ever imagine being in a bad mood while listening to this song.
Nor I. I'd have to turn it off and wait for my mood to improve.
Impossible!
Agree!😉
The Good Old Days! Never thought I'd be saying that to music of the 80's 😮 Dam those were days my friend,we thought they'd never end, we'd sing and dance, forever and a day 😮
Classic early 80's..Columbia House 13 albums for 1 cent
Never paying the penny tho...
Every time you move you can start over 👍🏼
Then you don't buy the other albums and realize that you are underage and cannot enter into a contract legally, so you keep entering into contracts (their attorneys couldn't touch you).
Haaaaa.... bringing back memories!
And the anticipation...waiting weeks for 'em to come in the mail!
PLEASE TAKE ME BACK TO THE 80’S!!!!!! ❤️
