This was a great album, but if you haven’t heard Nick Heyward’s solo album “North of a Miracle” you should! It has the same feel with a larger band. Top 10 album for me!
Right back in my 1968 SAAB 96 in Sacramento in High School in 1984! Warm summer nights listening to these cats and much more! For whatever reason Sac had Brit Bands all the time at Galatica 2000, Club Can't Tell and a few other magical spots. Ahhh the world has changed, but man we had it good.
And I was running around Sacramento in a restored '65 Mustang listening to Haircut 100. People still bring up that I was a huge fan. Yeah, it was good times I'll never forget.
Yeah, it's not due to incompetence or anything on the band's part. It's usually due to sound levels and dealing with amps, etc. Easier on a morning show to play the backing track through their existing equipment.
I love these guys. ! played the grooves off the LP when it came out. Love+1 was our song for me and my girlfriend right through the summer before she left. The album still makes me smile though. Takes me back to my 20's . The 1980's had the best tunes and MTV and MuchMusic played music videos all the time and I had a stereo TV plugged into my monster stereo stack. Good times.
I live in the states. Had never heard of these guys until I bought a George Michael VHS and he mentioned Haircut 100. That name always stuck with me. Then I saw bands reunited and got introduced to them. Love plus one at first listen. Great band. I just wish this performance was more inspired. Hope yall come to the states!
I can't wrap my brain around Nick Heywood as a middle-aged man. I will always mentally envision him as a grown boy or very young man singing his 1983 video, "Whistle Down The Wind". That song made an emotional mental impression in my mind that remains to this very day. When the song came out, it gave me bittersweet memories of my youthful college years that ended just one year before. Now I felt rudderless, not being back on college campus and wondering what to do with my life and where it was going. It took another year for me to accomplish that.
I have a very shaky link here. When I bought that first album I was dating a girl who worked with Nick Heywards mum. I said hey can you get this album autographed for me, and she laughed and said are you serious ? 🙂 I said well maybe not. It was not very cool as we were into the style council and Paul Weller at the time, but I did like that album. Glad they are still around as is Paul Weller.
I saw Nick at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles in early 2018. I was super intoxicated and called my ex-wife and told her where I was at. We loved Haircut 100 and music was the only connection we had in our relationship.
@@mac1975To be fair the Nick Heyward and his band mates repaired any rift in the early 2000’s for Bands Reunited, a tv show. The ‘Bongo Man’ Marc Fox and Nick have both spoken very highly of each other since, but I’ve heard Marc has retired from music or at least live playing.
Love Plus One reminds me of being a 10 year old again in early '82. Much happier and simpler times back then and when the charts had much more variety regarding musical genres, the artists actually had talent and most of the songs were happy and uplifting - unlike all the depressing, soul-less, talentless, fake, auto-tuned, two dimensional garbage we get today. Despite obviously looking a bit older, Nick Heyward still looks great for his age and still a handsome beggar as well as drummer Blair Cunningham. Les and Graham are looking a bit worse for wear though, bless 'em.
The band is decimated. Of the legendary Haircut 100 there is practically nothing left. Nick never repeated himself. He was cocky...he thought he was just the talented one. His talent was extinguished after 'North of a Miracle'. Now he is just a jukebox of a time gone by that will never return.
@@Michael-TJ Sorry, I've been following Nick since his debut with Haircut 100. I have never found in his later productions, apart from 'North of a Miracle', work that could be considered 'wow'. Today, Nick is riding high on fame again thanks to Haircut 100. I certainly wasn't happy when the band split up after just one album... but alchemy is not possible with just one chemical element. He, when working on solo projects, for me, does not convey any emotion.
I saw them when they played the Coffee Break Concert in Cleveland at the Agora…a free concert on Wednesdays in the morning at 11… great band…great musicians….unique because everyone in the band had a different influence musically…and when combined…a glorious noise.
One of my fave 80's albums! I still play it loud to this day!
Boomer age 63
Thankfully Nick's vocal is fantastic.
One of the best songs of the 80's and this band will always be fantastic❗️
Nick is still lovely
He has aged rather brilliantly and is still a good looking beggar and Blair looks great as well.
As for Les and Graham . . . . Not so good.
Flippen amazing... 80's 🎶 will never die... 🔥
I stress to all my friends that Pelican West is one of the greatest albums ever produced.
It is! Perfect blend of various styles. Unique and original and nothing compares.
I doff my cap to you!
This was a great album, but if you haven’t heard Nick Heyward’s solo album “North of a Miracle” you should! It has the same feel with a larger band. Top 10 album for me!
And not to forget, the amazing "Bläsersätze".I loved! The Sun is dancing.
Nick looks in such great shape- healthy and happy!
Haircut 100 nick Hayward fantastic day's. See what I did there takes me back to 19 years old great day's
I saw them last month in Los Angeles. They were amazing! Their set was too short. I wanted more!
Really? I'm so sad that they played here and I had no clue. They're just going to have to come back 😊
What!!! I missed it 😢 Cheers from the SGV👍🏼
love you guys, its a great gift to the world that you are back.
So great that these guys are again performing concerts! I really missed them and their wonderful sound/songs!
One of my favorite bands of the 80’s….still listen to the album….looking forward to the new album. Wish the horn player was still on board.
Great bass player.
Such a great band. I hope that live, they still have live horns and percussion. When I saw them in 1982 it was just amazing.

Nick sounds fantastic after all these years. The whole band sounds tight. Amazing.
Nick looks great ❤
I love seeing them and can't wait to see them live. But this is Nick Heyward singing along with the original album track.
Same music defo, the guys have to be ‘acting? miming? haha… it has to be a tv studio thing I guess
They are singing live, the only thing recorded is some of the backing music.
Yeah, it's not due to incompetence or anything on the band's part. It's usually due to sound levels and dealing with amps, etc. Easier on a morning show to play the backing track through their existing equipment.
One of the greatest 80s bands! We loved them here in New Zealand.

MuchMusic and CFNY! FTW!❤
These guys are all in good shape.. classic tune
Can't deny how good this is

It was one of my favourite akbums i playrd it over and over on my mums living room i still have it my uncle bought it me for my birthday at the time

Good for them. Looks like they’re really enjoying being back together.
I cant help but love them!
Bloody excellent!!
Nick looks good
I recently saw them in concert. Great show!
I liked the gag about the seagul eating the pasty you brought up from Cornwall Graham! Good one bud.
Love these guys❤
You guys are sounding even better in 2023! Hope to see the guys on tour.
Nick singing live but Recorded track
@@chris-w4n9w In part because if anyone noticed, two guys are not there.
sounding better , its the actual record with nich singing over it
Happy vibes.
Super band! Love them!
Reminds me a bit of the later US group The Ocean Blue.
Im waiting for him to say "Oh Behave, groovy baby"
Bet Nick was relieved they didn’t show his Tarzan loincloth segment from the promo vid 😂 I like the end of Fantastic Day when they all fall off 😂

Good anecdote!
Fantastic 😂😂
still brilliant
Shame they didn't play it live just the vocals. I saw them a few years back live for a VH1 show called Bands Reunited and they sounded great.
Heheh... they cut out Nick swinging around in the music video on a vine like Tarzan boy all half naked and such. :9
Glad Nick is still cute. Some of us get hideous when we get older.
😅😅
what happened to the other two , who were in the group, theres only four of em there .
Where is the sax player and the conga player? Are they no longer in the band?
Could be they retired from music or didn't want to join?
@@GVike They weren't asked back.
was there any reason why the other two band members aren’t present?
The sax guy teaches and the bongo man fell out with Nick years ago…😢
@@mac1975 he still has his chops

Hard to believe in another 40 years, Nick will be 102 years old.
Love Haircut 100 but those interviewers are incredibly annoying.
They sure are.
Well this isn't live. There are instruments playing that aren't even present.
Schofield the arse bandit
Nick Heyward looks like Austin Powers
basically Nick Heyward Karaoke....

Hopefully you dont change the lyrics to some PC nonsense...like i just saw them do on the live tour.. and it ruined the vibe.
Bring back Philip Scofield.

Still have same cassett 2024 still plays hard to belive !
That's good going for a cassette! I remember them getting mangled a lot back then, hence why I preferred vinyl records.

Why doesn't the black drummer say anything
Did you even watch it. ?
