A gig like this why you can’t beat live performances- 4 musicians absolute masters of their respective instruments but listening and playing together as tight as a ducks arse
I saw CAB at some Los Ageles club back when they first formed. I remember Tony MacAlpine walking in off the street through the front door about 3 minutes before they were to start. As soon as they were done, Tony scooted right back out the front door. It was like he wasn't really in the band; more like a hired gun who was off to another gig.
Amazing that Patrice Rushen was not mentioned in the video title. Patrice (keyboards) is maybe the most accomplished and is known for her 1982 hit "Forget Me Nots". The music for that song was used for the theme song for Men In Black ("Here come the men in black").
Fair enough, I think she should be on the title too, but... Maybe the most acomplished? That's a bit much, don't you think? If Virgil Donati is not the single most "acomplished" drummer in the history of humankind, then he's most definitely top 5 ever.
Maybe most well known......in certain genres. Most accomplished? Um, do you even know who the rest of the players are? I mean, TMac is a better keyboardist/piano player, and he's the guitarist. Bunny? Discovered by the legendary Chick Corea at age 17. and Virgil? Sheesh. She is probably the worse musician up there, by a considerable margin. Let's not confuse "well known" for "excellence". And I'm not saying she is bad, because if she was merely "good", she wouldn't have this gig. Just that you apparently have no idea just how good the other 3 are.
@@JMoore68 I started listening to Tony in 1995. However, it is your opinion that Tony is a better keys player. I'm of the opinion that pedigree matters. Dennis Chambers, as an example, can play most any genre of music and so can Patrice. Examine who all they've played with. Patrice has also served as musical director on several TV shows. It is likely they all came together because they each believed they were playing with the best at each instrument for this fusion genre. I doubt that even Tony thinks he is better at keys than Patrice. Tony is damn good guitarist. I am a fan. But I find that I listen more to Greg Howe when I want "black speed guitar based on the major scales". Both were Shrapnel musicians but Greg has shown himself to be more versatile (to me). I wasn't viewing this video and wondering "who are these folks".
@@JMoore68 By accomplished I mean who has done more in their musical career? Go to their wiki pages and note their accomplishments. Yes, I know who the musicians are.
I agree with those individuals ,who complain about sync problems. The bassist's solo is completely out of sync/or he has replayed the solo at a later time.Other then that nothing is all that noticable.
Virgil playing so much better here than he is now. I cant even listen to him for more than 10 seconds now. Unfortunately he lost his way to complication land and it doesnt even sound good...
I've always been a huge MacAlpine fan, but I don't really care for his tone on this. Doesn't fit the music. Very squeaky. Brunel's bass sound is fantastic though. Donati is a stellar drummer.
Let's not forget the excellence of Patrice Rushen friends
👍👍👍

Yo how could you forget the amazing and legendary Patrice Rushen!
So great. Thanks for uploading!!!
this is a gem, thank you very much!
liam erick no kidding....uploader has achieved Champion status lol
Patrice should definitely have been in the title, ,she is the most widely known musician in this performance.
In the title...lit with a spot...given a close up camera shot! It's like someone calling the shots decided to make her invisible...a shame.
She should be in the title, but that is a stretch. I honestly had never heard of her. She is great.
@@EthnHayabusa It’s not a stretch just because YOU don’t know who she is. She’s the most successful and well known out of anyone on that stage
@@EthnHayabusa You should educate yourself. She has put her stamp on music and clearly the most pronounced on the stage.

Could someone help me with the setlist of this amazing performance please.? Thanx.
This is new live performance of last year? And the present time what? God bless them
Patrice Rushen, wow!
just ooses skill and mastery of ones instrument

PATRICE!!!!!!!!!

this is almost great, but is it possible to sync the audio to the video?
lol
They play faster than sound..
Patrice Rushin on keys
man, did an MI AV student do the synching ?
Wow! What's up with the lack of sync?
It's frustated, the sound is ok, but the image sync boring.
I tried to fix by apps ,but i'm not satisfied by results.
Oh that's a relief. I thought they were playing so fast my brain couldn't catch up. lol.

Disagree , he’s more exciting than ever ..
Damn, synch issues are outta control on YT these days. Geesh.

The same thing I said about Frank Gambale with The Elektric Band. Amazing!!! (but could he change up from that rocker tone ALL the time)
@@michaelclark1167 couldn't agree more.
Tony live is questionable. I think he gets a little too stoned before his performances lol.
I wish Cambers was there. I like Virgil but not in this context.
Virgil is nice but does not have the feel like Chambers.
I argued
Too many notes; there's no melody here.
😂😂😂😂
