I think it expresses the purpose. Either 1) God should show his faithfulness (by keeping his promise and putting a man on the throne) for the purpose of helping or motivating the children to take heed, etc. OR 2) God should put the man on the throne for the purpose of helping or motivating the children to take heed, etc.
I pray my advice is good and has an edifying effect. I have serious disagreements with my KJV-Only brothers: I do believe their doctrine is both wrong and (therefore, and to that extent) divisive. I tend to think they feel the same way about me. But I also believe that we share some extremely important common ground that we can build on.

The James 1:21, the word, "naughtiness" is translated "wickedness" in other translations. I noticed a slight contextual conflict, in that, modernly, I would see "naughty" as either a slightly old-fashioned word for a child's misbehavior or as being sexual in nature, neither of which seemed quite right in James 1:21. Wickedness makes more sense intuitively. I checked Merriam-Webster and for "naughty" it has "wicked" as archaic. And, using Strong's the Greek word means wickedness. That's as far as I got in the process, because I don’t have full access to the OED.
This reminds me of the confusion I felt as a kid reading books and stumbling over phrases like 'all but' meaning 'almost', and 'but for' meaning 'if not for'. Familiar words, used in an unfamiliar way -- not quite false friends yet! -- though I wouldn't be surprised to find that 'all but' and 'but for' become empty or even actively confusing within a couple of generations.

James R White's book on the subject, "The King James Only Controversy" helped a lot. But your resources would have made it much quicker and smoother. Thank you for your kind heart and love for people in the movements. As you stated, there is a lot of good in them. It is the extremes that give the whole movement a bad rep.

There was a proto translation before that (mostly by Stephanus J du Toit), but it was not authorised by the Churches. But yes, the 1933 translation, revised in 1953, was the first completed Afrikaans Bible in South Africa, it used the Textus Receptus as Greek text and the BH for the OT. Before this translation most Afrikaans congregations relied on the old "Dutch Staten vertaling", so the translators relied heavily on this and the KJV, but they did all the translation directly from the original languages. One person that did the lion share of the translation work, was a brilliant scholar lovingly called "Totius" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Totius_(poet) He was the son of Stephanus J du Toit. He was also responsible for most of the revision, he died in 1953 the same year the revision was published. Purportedly applying some last-minute touches the day before the Text started printing. The 1933/53 Translation followed a more literal translation philosophy, and besides the TR being used, reads a lot like the ESV in many instances. It does have a fair bit of archaic Afrikaans words and therefore a request was sent to the South African council of Churches that a new translation should be authorised. This culminated in the 1983 Nuwe Vertaling (New Translation) that follows the NIV very closely in translation philosophy and original language texts used. In 2020 the latest authorised Afrikaans translation was published, it used updated textual bases and updated the Afrikaans language, but they returned to a more literal translation philosophy, but not as literal as the 1933/53 Translation. I'm still going through the new translation to see how it is, but so far I like it. I've used the Afrikaans 33/53 translation as my primary Bible since I was a child, and really started studying it in 1998. I fell in with the "KJV and 33/53 only" movements around that time (partly because of a tract by Jack Chick called "sabotage") and it was only around 2010 that GOD graciously led me out of being an ardent KJVO 33/53 only proponent. The King James Bible is following its most direct ancestors, the Geneva Bible and Bishops' Bible, both of which took this wording from the Great Bible (which appears to be the origin of the "so that" rendering in English; Coverdale uses "so that" in the next clause of the same verse, but he uses a simple "if" in this clause). Notably, the Revised Version changed the phrasing to "if only" in 1885, and Noah Webster had already changed it to "provided" in 1833. The NASB, NRSV, and ESV have since stuck with the 1885 phrasing.
I recently learned in Hebrew studies that phrases/words like "but" or "so that" are English translations of Hebrew verbal form changes. It signals a break in the previous sequence of verbs and starts a new flow, or it indicates a parenthetical idea. But I'm still early on in studying, so I'm not sure if that helps here.
@@markwardonwords Sort of. I learned that in my online Hebrew course, which I'm taking through a program called Biblemesh (quick plug for Biblemesh: they're actually really worth looking into). The course doesn't use a primary text book, all the information is in the course, which you have to purchase to view. I'll check my other Hebrew textbooks later to see where I can find that. However! I can point out an example. Jonah 1:4 KJV says, "But the Lord sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken." The phrase "so that" is translated from the Hebrew conjunction. It does not show up as "and" here because the verbal form intentionally switched between "there was a mighty storm" and "it was about to be broken." The conjunction, rather than being prefixed to the verb (like it was for there was a mighty storm), is prefixed to "the ship," and the verb for "about to be broken" is in a different tense than the previous chain of verbs. It's a way they indicate a change in the flow of thought in Hebrew. The translators decided to use "so that" rather than and" to indicate the original texture. But, like I said, I just starting to learn this stuff, so I'll try to find that in a book.

Wow! I never caught that. I checked KJV Bibles I have with word helps to see if they did. Schuyler & Cambridge Concord with helps in the back did not. Old Thomas Nelson KJV with helps in the text did not. New Thomas Nelson KJV & TBS Westminster Reference Bible had word help in the margins for 1 Kings BUT THEY BOTH MISSED IT in 2 Chronicles. Interesting though, Noah Webster caught it both times and changed it in his Bible the 1833 Common Version, better known now as the Webster Bible. Thank you for bringing this to light Mark.

On a theological tangent: Christ does not sit on the throne of David yet. He is sitting on the Father's throne in an intermediary session until He returns to establish His kingdom on earth. Then and only then after the new Jerusalem capitol city sets down will He be able to go in and sit on David's (as opposed to His Father's) throne.
Koine Greek seems to consistently use 'hinah' to impart to a following verb a conditional meaning, to be used where English would use the words "could/should/would" according to context.
I'm doing as I'm told, pausing the video at the beginning. I would have assumed "so that" means that David's line will always have a man on the the throne of Israel in order that the people of God will be obedient, basically the civil function of the Law for government keeping order like Romans 13.

Well Peter. The temple is the Body of Christ and only God is righteous. So, you need to be in the Body of God, his Holy Temple, SO THAT, you are found in him (God), as a new creature in Christ, not having your own righteousness.
