    NEW UPDATED MODEL FOR QUICK RELEASE SWIVEL LATCH DEVICE:
    • Updated Latching Device
    ***************************************************************************************************** Mobile workbench with a quick release vise.
    New idea for quick release vise mechanism.
    Easy to carry and easy to attach to different surfaces (Table, Table Saw, Sawhorse, etc.) with a couple of clamps. Total table length 60 cm and width 36 cm, Jaw Opening 18 cm.
    I used Finnish birch plywood as a material. In the future I’m going to use a similar mechanism when I make a vise for my workshop table.
    *****************************************************************************************************
    Uusi idea pikasäätöisestä ruuvipuristimesta.
    Kätevä pieni työpenkki pikasäätö puristimella.
    Helppo kiinnittää erilaisille tasoille (pöytään, sirkkelin päälle, työpukkeihin ym.) parilla puristimella.
    Aion tehdä samalla mekanismilla puristimen myös minun kiinteään työpajan pöytääni.
    Kätevä kuljettaa mukana, vaikka autossa. Materiaalina kotimainen koivuvaneri.
    Leukaleveys 36 cm ja aukeama 18 cm.
    Pöydän kokonaispituus 60 cm.

    I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. If you just let the table open or close on it's own and don't force anything, it works great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh Once it's set up, it's pretty solid. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.

    I like how it works. Seems to be nice and strong. Tip. When making the notches for the "spring clip" in the long release nut...put a bolt in the long nut and add another nut to lock it on the end then simply put the bolt thread end in your drill and start the drill while keeping the grinder on you mark. This will make a much neater grove. Not that it will be seen after its installed but everything made with love works better I find. Great build. Going to build one. Thnx for sharing

    • @OSPuupaja
      @OSPuupaja  3 года назад

      Thank you for the comment.
      You are really right. I could have done that part a lot neater, using a drill and angle grinder. But this was only a test piece that then remained in use. My latest model for this part consists of two nuts with a spring in between.

    Looks very interesting. To make a real product out of this would require it to be made out of steel, which in this case would be very expensive. If you can figure out a way to use less mass in the locking, then I think you could go further with this.

    • @OSPuupaja
      @OSPuupaja  4 года назад +6

      Thank you for the comment!
      On the other hand, the mass gives more stability to the workbench.
      Weight 14 Kg,
      I think the weight of like this (mobile)workbench is very reasonable.
      This is for a wood workshop and is also a woodworking project,
      so plywood was a natural choice.

    14:14 What is the function of the snap ring?

    • @OSPuupaja
      @OSPuupaja  2 года назад +1

      The locking ring holds the spring in place. The spring presses a small round piece of metal (14:06) against the threaded rod. This increases the friction between the threaded rod and the locking device. This friction ensures that the metal latch moves in and out of the locking cavity as the threaded rod is rotated. At the same time, it ensures that the latch does not spin automatically into the lock cavity when the clamping jaw is pulled open. I have made an updated version of the lock device. You can watch the video from the link below: ruclips.net/video/eBe69-nLFj8/видео.html
