Just got my spring the other day, took me maybe 10 minutes to disassemble, upgrade, and reassemble thanks to this video. Word of warning, this makes it even more difficult to pull the slide back, if you don't have good grip strength you may want to avoid this mod, my gf can't even pull it back at all anymore(shouldn't be a problem for those of us who are just kids at heart and not body). But I must say, wow, the power increase is pretty incredible. Far better than I expected. I put some petroleum jelly on the o-ring to get a little better seal and the gun shoots so fast now that i couldn't possibly want anymore in fear i might break something or really hurt someone. The nerf balls fly across my house seemingly instantly(~50ft from one end to the other, going over 130fps, there is pretty much no time to react), could easily take out someones eye by accident, even from just a ricochet. Fucking sick, I love it.
@Not Pancake YT surprisingly no issues at all, still the exact same as it was. Still takes a ton of force to pull back. I expected some parts to break with just how much extra force this thing puts on the gun but I gotta give it to nerf, they really over engineered this one
@@YarshNBDP I've got 2 springs coming in for mine and I wanted to ask you how/why the petroleum jelly improves it and how/how much you applied it. I want it to be mean like yours haha
I ordered a Kronos and a k25 from your website a couple months. To my surprise, this was a really easy and effective mod, even for an 11 year as myself. Now my Kronos averages a speed of 120-125 FPS. For kids under 14, I would recommend a K25 spring cause a k26 would be a little too hard to prime, and would therefore be impractical to use in a Nerf war. I highly recommend this mod from out of darts.
Thank you! I was not modifying a gun, but my son took his sister's gun apart to get a non nerf ball out that had jammed it up. So I was brought the pieces (which were amazingly all present) and asked to get it back together. This video was exactly what I needed. Thank you.
I bought the Kronos spring from OOD and upgraded my broken Kronos. I watched this video and was able to mod my first blaster. I felt so accomplished! Thank you Luke for this video!
Absolutely lovely tutorial and I've seen quite a few for the Kronos at this point. Exceptional lighting, clean presentation, and well spoken. Well done sir! Looking forward to seeing more.
My parcel arrived yesterday morning with your pre-cut K26 and my Rayven parts, I'm looking forward to installing the spring, it seems like a pretty simple mod, so shouldn't take too long,. Thanks Luke, you're an absolute diamond.
@Outof Darts I’m about to mod/paint one of these and this quick video has helped me plan out my build so much! I paused and screenshot a ton of images from this to use as reference. I couldn’t be more appreciative. Thanks!
Ordered the spring off of etsy after watching this video, thanks for the extremely quick shipping and thanks most of all for turning the kronos into a hand cannon lol. Priming is definitely more difficult, but that is to be expected from such a strong spring.
I dropped you and your Etsy store a mention in the "show more" section in my review of the Kronos, for the K26 upgrade spring you sell. It's a great blaster and I look forward to modding mine at some point when I get the K26 for it. You do a great service in cutting the spring to the right length and removing all the sharp ends for the Kronos, saving us who don't have the special tools to do it for ourselves. Thanks Luke for the great videos, store and service you offer, you have a great selection, I'm spoiled for choice, I may have to get some Hammershot cylinders from you as well!
When I got my Kronos I thought is was you know just gonna shoot a few feet like yknow standard elite range. Oh how wrong I was. Why even mod it is fires as far as the regular rival blasters
If you get a chance look up the physics behind the Tippmann A5 Flatline Barrel on paintballs. The Kronos works the same way. There is a notch on the top side of the barrel about an inch inside. It's easy to feel, just put your finger in the barrel and you can feel it. What this does is as the ball exits the chamber it creates an upwards spin on the ball. This is effective upto a certain range, and what it does is makes the ball fly straight up to a certain range. After that if the spin still exists and the momentum is still present (which is what happens with higher tension springs being in) it'll zing off to a random side based on which way the axis of that spin will rotate, left, right etc. This is based on the balance of each individual Nerf ball. Some will balance to rotate one way or another, but the same ball will also zing off in a random direction. So, if the balance of the ball is more towards one side one of the two 360 degree access, there is no way of controlling which way that ball will be facing when it reaches the notch to generate that backwards spin that will make it go straight. So, it is advantageous to have a higher speed, which will get the ball to go further and be accurate... but where with the normal spring the ball will just start curving down, with the higher tension of spring, the chance to arc will be reduced to an accurate degree. Well... that's the physics part of it anyways, how it actually reacts can vary.
they corkscrew off when the friction from the air is greater than the force of the spin that generates the lift effect. the molds for the standard darts are not symmetrical so eventually the ridges along the seam drag and change the angle of the rotation, causing a change in the lift vector and it changes direction. if you fire the kronos sideways you lose that extra range from the magnus effect but instead you can shoot around corners :p
I ordered two of your easy prime springs for the Kronos. I'm planning to disassemble and upgrade both of my Kronos', as well as paint them. I couldn't think of a better way to do a minor upgrade than replacing the springs they've had since I bought them both. One definitely shoots harder than the other, this should equalize them. Then, the paint should make them truly amazing.

Thanks for this simple and easy to understand tutorial. Mine ball pusher sometimes jams and I can't wait to crack mine open and see if I can fix it now
Im in Switzerland and kind of want to buy springs from your website but I dont know how much shipping will be If anyone could tell me that would be awesome
Interesting. I used a section of k25 the same length as the original spring and get an average of 140 fps now. It was incredibly annoying to precompress but once it went back together it functioned flawlessly.
I can second this. I saw very similar performance to the k26 I had previously installed. I found the k25 a bit smoother on the prime as well. K25 also gives a lot more room for fine tuning by the user due to the extra length. It's easy to find a balance between performance and prime difficulty just by removing a bit at a time.
I haven't had any issues with accuracy. the only difference i've noticed is at a higher fps, the rival balls sort of "jump" upwards at the end of their range before dropping down.
Thanks for the k25 tip. I was having trouble priming with k26, but no trouble with k25. It's just that little bit lighter to compress but still a great improvement. I am getting 110fps average with k25, and 80fps at best with the stock spring.
1:50 y'know, that's the first time I've seen a nerf video mention eye protection, which is funny because just today I got whacked in the eye by a flying piece of plastic I had just nipped off a sledgefire. Gotta love the irony.
We try to remember mentioning eye-pro during every mod that requires them (almost every mod). Depending on the FPS cap, you *could* get away without eye protection at games, but it doesn't mean that you *should.*
I’d really like to see your take on MrHeathpants’ return spring mod to the Kronos. If you could make that modification readily available, that would be terrific! The return spring mod is something that Kronos needs!
The biggest problem with a return spring mod on the kronos is that it would make it harder to reload, it has to be primed back to give access to the internal mag
So for those talking about Heath's mod making it hard to reload, he did add a steel reinforced mechanism to hold the slide forward while reloading. I plan on doing one myself in the following fashion. Epoxy upright "nipples" on both the inside of the front plate and the mag chamber the same length as whatever decompressed tension springs you're using. Add said springs to both sides. Then in the removed safety lock hole, add a piston of some sort attached to a steel/reinforced bar that's long enough to block the slide while primed. Then reload, push that bar down, slide lurches forward, ready to go.
Outof Darts im late, but what about if you add a slide lock like on a real steel 1911? So you pull back the slide and push up the lever with your thumb and it keeps the slide back.
At 5:38, you showed the cocking mechanism to stop it for half/full primed. How does it disengage since i dont see it connected/related to other parts of the trigger. Am having trouble wth my unit and found out that the cocking part stops the gun from firing
With the K26 in there it's a monster to prime, most of the balls went sailing over the 6' high fence in my 50' long garden. the hop-up makes them sail right over the fence with level shots. I'll have to print a T-Priming handle or another kind of priming grip as it just slips in my hand when priming sometimes because of the lack of grippy surfaces on the Kronos.
an important note: The piece you refer to as an optional safety is not part of the safety switch on the side. Rather, it's the lock that prevents pulling the trigger while the blaster is half-primed. I recommend leaving this in so you don't accidentally pull the trigger and have the breech slam close on your fingers while loading.
Muchas gracias por tu video, desde nuevo no pudo utilizarla y como fue regalo no podía aplicar la garantía, pero gracias ti ya la reparé, muchas gracias por todo!!
I already ordered a cut spring from you, and yeah, it now stings a little when you get hit. Thank you for giving me the main internal part to transform it into the Rival Desna. Now it just needs cosmetic work. I also re-inserted the plunger rod upside-down initially, so yeah...
@@-Soapy- , I think that when the drum is slid in, it activates a little trap door where the air pressure can come through. lets say if you have a alphahawk (or any blaster where you need to push the button to slide out the rotating drum), it activates the trap door when it is slid in, so the air pressure has a place to escape. When you fire it and the trap door isn't activated, the air pressure has nowhere to escape, which therefore can harm the blaster. I know practically nothing about modded blasters, but I am kind of sure this is why it is bad for the blaster.
@@-Soapy- but if you want to know why to not dry fire a blaster that doesn't have a rotating drum and the trap door and everything, I am really not sure. Maybe it is better for it to have something in the chamber?
is there a way to make the safety easier to release with the thumb of your shooting hand? I have to use my other hand because it is so damn hard to push up!
My dad bought my brother an already modded version of the Kronos and my brother actually added on the pullback primer for the gun which makes more powerful even more than yours.
I'm sure that higher tension springs can also wear the mechanisms of the gun faster. I think if you want faster shots that are accurate, you're going to need a heavier projectile.
newuser312 I feel better about myself, I thought my months of not going to the gym finally got to me. Right now I just ordered the new K25 spring, to see how much easier it's really going to be! 😅
Thanks, I followed your tutorial and it Worked very well, I'm in Mexico so I ordered the spring from amazon. I want to mod my takedown to, do you know if the spring measure is the same as the Kronos? Kind Regards.
Awesome vid! However when I went to order two, the cost of shipping was more than the springs. Any way shipping can be discounted? Im in Australia. Thanks
You say k26 spring but link says k25, k25 seems firmer then stock but following your guide line i cut it to the size of the stock spring as it stuck out past the hook... is this wrong? Thanks
Is that tube thing at the front of the gun below the barrel vital to the gun? I was thinking about attaching a light to the gun and i was gonna put it under the barrel
Hello I am new and just took my gun apart like you said and then I found this piece on the ground after I took it off and I was wondering what it was do you know what it is by chance? It looks like a little oval with a wedge piece on top and flat piece and then two little knobs on the bottom
I was able to install the spring and pull it back, but now it appears to have trouble pushing back forward without slamming it in which just resets the mechanism without actually firing the ball?
I tried one the opposite way and it didn't feel as smooth. Putting the cut end on the catch side seemed to create a little point load at that point of contact and wanted to push the plunger rod and catch out of parallel. The square end on the catch side seemed to help keep everything in line.
I know in airsoft pistons, some spring guides and piston heads feature ball bearing guides, so the spring can freely rotate and not worry about the spring ends catching. If the nerf springs are anything like those, diameter wise, may be worth looking into.
I just got the pre cut springs and installed. Double checked everything to make sure i installed correctly. Put it all back together and i can pull back to prime but i cant push it back forward any recommendation?
Try loosening the screw in front of the trigger hole, the one in the black plastic. Loosen it a bit at a time, then you should be able to prime it as usual.
I’m having an issue priming it, I can get it about halfway and then it locks, I’ve checked the video about 5 times now and I have no clue what is causing this

MNemJef,mr_bruhman on reddit you don’t have to respond he posted this a year ago
Wait only 70fps for the stock spring? It’s supposed to be 90fps
He said 70 feet range not f/s
@@nglfrlollmaotbh oh lmao
i thaught you would do this. LOVE UR CHANNNEL!!
Hey Out of Darts, can I possibly commision a dual Kronos or Artemax for my nerf war loadout?
I have two, I’m thinking of nodding them and duel wielding them by drilling out a hole in the back “rails” and tying the priming bar to a vest
is there a way to make the safety easier to release with the thumb of your shooting hand? I have to use my other hand because it is so damn hard to push up!
My dad bought my brother an already modded version of the Kronos and my brother actually added on the pullback primer for the gun which makes more powerful even more than yours.
I'm sure that higher tension springs can also wear the mechanisms of the gun faster. I think if you want faster shots that are accurate, you're going to need a heavier projectile.
Great video, thx man.
are there custom bullets you can buy to push the fps even higher?
Great vid, I'll be hitting you up for those custom flat end springs when they are available!
Is Air Restrictor removal not a worthwhile mod on the Kronos? Could an airsoft- style hop- up be used to get more distance?
Didn’t realize how niche this was
Just got my K26 in today, worked got a nice performance buff...but was waaaaay too hard for me to prime more than halfway 😅
thehollowlingwin just did the mod. I'm a grown man go to gym a few times/week and this thing is hard to prime. Man this thing shoots hard though!
newuser312 I feel better about myself, I thought my months of not going to the gym finally got to me.
Wow very video return spring, thank you for sharing
Awesome vid! However when I went to order two, the cost of shipping was more than the springs. Any way shipping can be discounted? Im in Australia. Thanks
I think blastertech sells a Kronos k26
Where can you get those springs?
J’ai acheté un nerf kronos mais quand je tire, les balles se bloquent dans le canon! Avez-vous un conseil?
You say k26 spring but link says k25, k25 seems firmer then stock but following your guide line i cut it to the size of the stock spring as it stuck out past the hook... is this wrong? Thanks
Is that tube thing at the front of the gun below the barrel vital to the gun? I was thinking about attaching a light to the gun and i was gonna put it under the barrel
Does it hurt when modded?
Yes. The higher the fps, the more range and velocity the high impact rounds get, but that also means more pain.
O2D I got my new spring and holy smokes. Scary! Any chance that spring is going to wear out the OEM parts?
Hello I am new and just took my gun apart like you said and then I found this piece on the ground after I took it off and I was wondering what it was do you know what it is by chance? It looks like a little oval with a wedge piece on top and flat piece and then two little knobs on the bottom
Also do you know where the two big screws go?
Hmm. I'm not sure what that is by its description. Send us an email with pictures and we might be better able to assist you! orders@outofdarts.com
I was able to install the spring and pull it back, but now it appears to have trouble pushing back forward without slamming it in which just resets the mechanism without actually firing the ball?
What would happen if the spring was long than the tube
UnpopularWaffle the spring would catch it and get trapped
Why do you put the open cut end of the spring on the plunger head side? I did the opposite with my M6.
If I were to remove a maverick sling and interweave it with the Kronos spring would that make it any better? Or would it have a chance of breaking it?
Im 15. This nerf gun is accurate for nerf. Very inpressed
I just got the pre cut springs and installed. Double checked everything to make sure i installed correctly. Put it all back together and i can pull back to prime but i cant push it back forward any recommendation?
kaotikz I just got mine in the mail today and having the same issue. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.
Jake. I just dismantled it again for the 3rd time and still something is prohibiting it from going back forward
Try loosening the screw in front of the trigger hole, the one in the black plastic. Loosen it a bit at a time, then you should be able to prime it as usual.
Nicholas ill give it a go. Thanks for the tip
Will you be making pre-cut springs for other rival blasters? I'm looking for a decent spring for my Artemis.
Great!
what spring length do you think will be good for the , Prometheus i think, the upgraded Artemis
I have a question. How do I attach the safe lock for the Blue Kronos?
Beside being very hard to prime would a 120mm 22mm 15kg spring destroy my krono?
I’m having an issue priming it, I can get it about halfway and then it locks, I’ve checked the video about 5 times now and I have no clue what is causing this
Your screwdriver is a XShot dart in disguise.
when modding mine i like to catch the plunger in the catch mech to put it back in... probobly too hard to do with this spring lol
How do you transport nerf blasters especially rivals while traveling internationally? Would customs or security question them if they are in the checkin baggage?
