Love that you chose the Cobra MkIII (THE classic Elite franchise ship) based purely on stat's ... good choice! 😄
keep an eye on those credits, never fly without rebuy, safe travels commander, o7!
Thanks, will do! o7
I’m guessing you in the”starter zone” to keep you safe at the start-do missions until you see “explore the galaxy” - that opens galaxy to you
I am not sure where I am, but went to jail twice and then mess up with my base locations again
@@Foxyloxy.X The game puts all new players into starter systems where missions and NPCs are easier, there's a filter on the galaxy map that can highlight them. be careful tho because once you leave the starter systems you can never go back. its to prevent experienced players from seal clubbing newbs
Nice to see someone new getting into ED
😂😂😂 i joint today aswell bought the game yesterday ,man getting the code to verify is a pain but i got it to work .man i love this game best space sim ever
yeah same, I feel you. but once you get in, the game is amazing
@@mikescott29 The new launcher is out today, and it's meant to streamline the whole process for new players. You were just too early ;-)
Agreed. I love this game.
84 probably refers to 1984, when the original version of the Elite game was first published.
o7
And btw you made good pick with the cobra
Thanks
cobra is the best multipurpouse ship for a beginner. The best choice, congratulation
Cobra Mk3 is a ship I still use, after years of playing, and billions of credits earned. It is great for running missions, visiting Odyssey settlements, etc. A great balance of speed, cargo capacity, jump range, maneuverability, and decent hardpoints. As for Thargoids, they are considered "end game" content as they need good ships and decent flying skills to defeat. However, you can see them in a few places, such as Deciat (near damaged megaships) or Delphi (more damaged megaships and some surface sites). If you are careful and don't get too close you can watch them, without being attacked.
I see, thx for letting me know
The Cobra is a really nice ship. Once you get rich and try out the big ships, it can be fin to go back to the smaller ones and spare no expense on upgrades.
I've got an upgraded and engineered Sidewinder that I've been having a lot of fun with. Sell value is something like 1.5 mil. It's a nice change of pace from a Python or Krait.
Been playing elite since 2014 and i still fly the cobra as well.Sometimes even the Mk4 lol
Love seeing new Cmdrs fall in love with ED. Im a major SC player but still love ED. Enjoy glad i found your series!!
Thanks! If you are a SC player, please check out my SC channel

Cobra 3 is the best multipurpose ship for beginners with low budget. So you chose well.
Never fly without enough money for a rebuy!
I was 87 credits short for my Python. 87. Let that sink in.
Painful, I have experienced it
1984 was when the original Elite was released on the BBC Micro. Folks who played the original Elite in E:D are referred to as "84'ers". I cut my teeth on my buddy's C64 in junior high, so I call myself an "86'er".
Use night vision and ship lights when landing on the dark side of a body, it'll help you see the terrain. ;)
If I could only own one ship at a time in Elite Dangerous, I would progress from the Sidewinder to the Cobra Mk III to the Python (or it's counterpart, the Krait Mk II).
If I really wanted something between the Cobra and Python, I'd get an Asp Explorer.
These ships represent those which are the most flexible in ability. Other ships can be better specialists in their chosen function.
Disclaimer - I have played since launch and have one of every ship type on my fleet carrier. Each is fully outfitted and engineered for a specific role or function.
Thanks for the ship suggestions from your deep experience in this game. Then these ships will be my goal to get and to get engineered first
So great to see you enjoying this game! o7
It's cool you are doing these videos. Elite is a great game.
Glad you enjoy it!
never ever fly without a rebuy! a good way to avoid this is to make sure you have at least double the amount you need to buy a ship, that way not only you'll be safe, but you'll have enough scratch to outfit it properly and get the most out of it :)
safe travels cmdr, it pleases me as an ED veteran to see new people go in all starry-eyed and have a good time in the old Milky Way, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. o7
P.S. : try to learn landing without an auto-dock, it's an experience of its own and you'll feel proud once you get the hang of it!
Really fun to see this. You'll have fun upgrading that Cobra bit by bit and it stays good at missions and odd jobs even as you get much further into the game. I recently did a "Soft reset" by putting all of my money into my carrier and hopping into a sidewinder. I wanted to have a go at re-learning combat mainly since I've been away for ages. The Eagle is fun to fly but I found it just lacked the firepower to stop medium ships from escaping when they wanted to run. I quickly upgraded to a cobra mk 4 instead and I'm having more fun with it (Although the cobra mk 4 needs engineered parts and advanced modules unlocked to work at all and for you and most people the cobra 3 is going to be much better to use). The cobra mk 3 is going to serve you really well.
I love the cobra mk 3, that's why I call it my second love, my first love is the sidewinder, and third love is the python
bigLOVE from the Island of Pearls
84 is the year the first version of Elite was released, 1984 for systems like the BBC Micro and Commodore 64 Also, most of the base stats on those ships can be improved with better modules, you'll find you could get them to run faster and carry more cargo overall. It all costs money though :)
Love the pimped out Cobra Mk 3!
lol...thx!
My recommendation is to find night vision in your settings and set a key binding to it. It will help you when flying in the dark.
Wonderful suggestion, I don't even know there is a night vision in ED. Thanks~
@@Foxyloxy.X also you have ship lights
Remember to fly the ship you like not the ship you should.
Prefer fun over efficiency, so you continue to enjoy the game :D
Fly safe, o7 commander!
Thanks for the tips! o7
Facts. I've owned every ship in the game, and I roam around in a Sidewinder.
I saved my credits and went straight from the Sidewinder to the Cobra MkIII. It’s pricey for a new player to A rate… but it’s a solid ship that can do everything asked of it until you can get a Python or Krait MkII.
Indeed, I made so much money with the Cobra III just doing combat missions alone, if you stack them
@@Foxyloxy.X Just saw your Odyssey video. It’s not as polished as Horizons, but it’s gotten way better in the last year+ or so. And the money in Exobiology is insane.
The Hauler is a lovely little ship - I used mine as a general little trading ship and then a taxi once I upgraded to a Type-6. Consider an Eagle for Courier missions - it's cheap, can be upgraded cheaply and once engineered can zip about!
I always found the Adder to be a better choice. It's not that much more expensive and it gives you the option of multicrew and a size 2 hardpoint.
The Cobra is the Original Ship from the 1984 Elite game, Its Classic and Timeless
It is
Makes me miss when I used to play before they f consoles
I'm enjoying your content. You seem like a natural. Have you considered live streaming Elite Dangerous? The ED community are very nice and you’ll get lots of hints and tips from the chat.
BTW The Cobra mk 3 is a legendary ship within ED lore. I really like it even though I have the biggest ships.
I am considering streaming, need some time to set up thing. And I do love the Cobra 3, so far my best ships.
@@Foxyloxy.X Live streaming would give experienced cmdrs a chance to help you when you get stuck.
My advice would be to not accept 'help' that gives you tens of millions of credits early in the game. It's better to make your own way, learning as you go.
I think 84 means 1984 when 1st Elite came out on BBS Micro.
Thanks for the info
Yeah, you're 100% correct on that score. (I was 14 when Elite first dropped in my lap).
The unavailable ships are rank locked, you need to reach a certain rank with the imperial navy to unlock that ship. It's the same with federation ships.
So I learned the rank system
I almost miss my MK3 despite having everything. I might have to take her out for a spin around the block.
The original Elite was released in 1984. That's where 84 comes from. 10:06
That's what 84 comes from, thanks for letting me know.
The cobra Mk3 is 'the' Elite ship lol can be effective in pvp too - bobblehead can be used as a make shift G-indicator as it reacts to G forces
👍
The Thargoids are an alien insectoid race. Humanity is currently at war with them.
Always have insurance rebuy in reserve or you lose ship it if destroyed
This lesson I learned the hard way.
Its not the money you should be worrying about when buying Fed Corvette, just saying 😏
Also one is not buying Lakon ships for their design
Cobra mk 3 is the classic ship
you forgot to look at the delacy ships. Zorgon ships are a subsidiary of delacey not the same company
Use night vision when on the dark side of a planet.
👍
Really, you could gather the money to get AND upgrade quite a bit of an Corvette in a week or two, with the proper money grinding
Would have to grind Fed rank concurrently, in order to get that Corvette :)
There's a lot more to the 'end game ships' than just the money. A basic Corvette, flown by someone who doesn't know what they're doing, can be ripped apart by an experienced player in a much smaller ship. Alternatively, a fully engineered Corvette, flown by someone who knows its strengths (and weaknesses) is something to be feared.
How are you enjoying the audio compared to star citizen? Also, you might not have noticed, but you do earn ARX just by playing the game. ;)
Go anaconda with a hybrid of alien and human shields and weaponry you will be unstoppable
Soon you'll have enough money to buy 2 of every ship and a fleet carrier to store most of them on
Easy Money
