This video made my install yesterday very easy. Thank you for taking the time to make this!

It's called damping, not dampening.damping is what shocks do. Dampening is what you do to a towel.

It is definitely a noticeable difference, I don’t have the exact numbers but Acura states that the sport mode on the Integra Type S is closer to the CTR comfort mode. Also the road I was testing on is quite bumpy reguardless, just easier to try and see differences in settings. The ITS comfort mode is very smooth, I just didn’t include it in the review

Excellent help on this mate. Have you found any issues on bumpy roads? Eg the car hitting bump stops or anything due to the softer damping? I think this is great that we can hit R+ mode and not have a broken back. With everything in R+ and just the dampers on sport with this change it seems like perfection especially for the crappy roads that we all have 90% of the time

I was busy searching to see what shock absorbers can give a smother softer ride mean while it's an electric model this entire time!

I ordered it yesterday for 202$ plus 20$ shipping.
Can’t wait to install it, as currently I use comfort mode exclusively. Sport and +R are unusable, and even comfort has compromised traction on bumpy roads due to the aggressive adaptive damping ramp up in the fl5.

@@ASJC27 where did you order from?...im in socal in my brief search it looks like its nationally backordered. i did order from an acura dealer in utah claiming it should be in stock end of december. i paid 210 shipped. but ya will ship when they get it in stock.

Does anyone know if the type S ads module can be put into the aspec Tech (which also has an ADS system)?

Thank you for posting this. Can you confirm that you do feel suspension firmness changes between modes (comfort, sport, and R) with the type S unit? Im concerned it may default to only one suspension setting. Thank you again.

After driving some more with it do you plan on keeping ITS or switching back to stock? What mode does the current comfort feel like? Thanks again for the post.

Damping... Dampening means you're getting it wet.

You could put the Civic one somewhere in the trunk and make a small circuit with a switch so you could choose which one you wanted. Do you think the loss of +R mode suspension settings is worth getting the softer settings?

    • @TexasExotic
      @TexasExotic Месяц назад

I thought about making a switch for track purposes as well. Good thing is it’s pretty easy to swap between the two modules without one.

I need your help on a totally unrelated topic 🙏 pls. Can you measure your FL5 wheel center caps pls 🙏 and your steering wheel ren H badge also pls . I want to order them for my FE1 Sí thru my local Honda dealership but their techs don't know anything about part measurements just remove and replace, the internet Honda specs says that the older type R gen FK7/8 center wheel bore is 64.1mm in the rim but some one measured the actual emblem center cap at 69 mm in this case the cap for the FK type R is larger than it's wheel bore the wheel was made with an under cut 🤔 can you help pls my Si FE1 wheel center bore is 64.1 mm with a center cap measures 62mm Diameter so the FK8's center caps will never fit , pls 🙏 you have and FL5 the lucky one please can you measure your pls 🙏

The ads is the computer. It controls the damping of all 4 wheels.

  • @nYdGeo

...and everyone that bought an FL5 and feels that the shock damping is too extreme, are crying for 'a softer ride', etc., should all realize that they've bought a far more capable, hard edge sports car than they intended or likely know what to do with, and just deal with it instead of actually lowering the cars capabilities trying their best to turn their budget Porsche into a Camry. The Acura's ADS unit's highest mode is equivalent to your current Sport, it's Sport mode is equal to your Comfort mode, and then they have their baby-food Comfort mode, which can barely maintain control of the stock FL5 springs. You may as well swap the springs too and completely ruin the car.
I guess it's great that you can do this, but you're not like Type R drivers I know. FK8 Type R drivers bought and put in the LE ADS controller to up and improve the damping, often to suite their heavier springs. I hope the FL5 controller is as good if not better. In the meantime, I'll see the real FL5 Type R drivers with their original ADS controller on The Dragon, the Cherohala Skyway and on the track. If I meet you folks on one of those, good luck trying to keep up.

It's not that serious. most of us don't commute on race tracks. the good news is you can swap out to the stock unit in ten min if you need to go to a track day.

You need to drive the FL5 in Australia with our third world roads.
