This young man in Fresno got ran over by a car because he tried to chase a robber that took his cell phone.
Yeah. A $600 phone and a $100 wallet are far more expendable than going to the hospital or worse - death. Nobody is asking ppl to give ur stuff away but should it so happen that there is a struggle - it's smart to prioritise YOUR SAFETY before securing other items like phone, wallet, car keys etc. While carrying groceries a for a few blocks - my friend was shot in the leg by a robber because he refused to let go of his wallet which barely had $34, his DL and bus pass in it. Took 3 weeks to recover (no pay as he had already used his leaves) plus 3 wks of physio, and $275 in hospital bills that the insurance did not cover. Was it worth it?

I was living in the streets in early 2000s after high school due to drugs... It wasn't bad as it is now with so many on the streets coming from other parts of the world.... Drugs took everything from me but I finally broke free in 2014..... Changed my life for good.. I try helping those on the streets when I can. Offer them jobs and food, some are changing and some enjoy the streets asking for money to get high. Life is better without drugs😊❤

I don't remember when was the last time I walked in a big city like NYC or LA without looking back. Like every 30 secs or so. Just a lil short of being paranoid but far away from being mugged. Post COVID unemployment has gone up so expect these incidents to go up. Always try to walk in day light. Try taking routes that are covered by CCTVs and are not too isolated. Keep $5 as mugging money. Last but not the least - ensure your safety first - losing a $600 phone won't matter much if you go to the hospital or worse - die.
