    Definitely attach the crampons to your boots! Especially with the ankle injury this fall, you are more likely to have stability issues this winter. Take care of yourself, so that you can take care of all of your animals.

    I like the idea of an occasional feature of introduction to one of the animals (not only the chickens). You could give far more detail and history than we get in your usual vids?

      Highlands are generally non aggressive and far more likely to just butt you a little ...obviously those horns can do damage but highlands seem to forget they have those much more than other horned cattle. an idea for your permanent water spots.... dig out a hole bigger than your water tubs and put a metal grid over the hole. it needs to be strong enough to hold your animals and with small enough mesh to not be a danger for their feet. the water can than easily flow over witout creating a risk for mud or ice.

    WOODCHIPS - FYI if you're spreading the wood chips in your hoop coop, it may be detrimental if you want to grow stuff in there. Wood chips not only take a very long time to break down, but they also suck all the nitrogen out of the soil in the process. You may be better off letting them compost somewhere else for a year or so and then bring them into the hoop coop. I work for a landscaping company and we have to deal with that when our clients have put down wood chips and can't figure out why their plants are not thriving.

      @PredictableEnigma from what I understand yes, I learned this from the Hubermab lab podcast. He talks about dopamine a lot. But if you listen to his podcast with David Goggins they talk about the part of the brain that gets bigger when you do hard things you don't really want to do. So Morgan's approach of doing the hardest thing first falls more under that umbrella imo, still a legit way to get stuff done.

    • @tfox285
      @tfox285 Месяц назад

      If you have more than one bull they will fight so fiercely they can kill each other. If only one is a bull and the rest are steers the fights are not as aggressive. Then even though the steers will eventually be meat they can be around longer to grow bigger. More than one intact bull is no joke, we had two bulls once under two years old and they pushed each other around so badly one fell or was shoved in a way that broke his hip. He had to be put down and dressed out in the middle of our very not level and somewhat in the woods pasture in snow. It was miserable, and a shame he had to suffer even though we put him down pretty quickly. The snow probably didn’t help with whatever caused the injury. We had friends who really came through, they had a butchering business and although they didn’t usually do field work and mostly processed wild game they couldn’t see letting an animal that size go to waste. Country people are there for each other.

    Hey, Morgan. Maybe it is time you do videos re-introducing your flock animals. Since Sampson and the peking ducks you used to raise; the only ducks i recognize now, are Frank and Beanie. Do your geese have names or just called meatbirds. 😂 enjoy watching your videos, man! 🤙

    Wonderful video! What is it like having the geese, ducks and chickens all together? Are there any cross-species conflicts that arise?

    Instead of having the gates wide open, like you have done, Maybe face the gates so the form a \ / with the point facing into the yard, you want to put your cattle into. Like a sheep trap. If you Google sheep trap, it should come up. It'll make less likely for the other cattle to get out.

    I think I’m the Abbey of my family 😅 5:08 I would watch the hell outta the “get to know my chickens” segment. 8:48 weird optical illusion that makes it look like a tree is walking across behind Morgan. 🧐 I like the little bear logo on the screen when you minimise the window 🐻

    Your farming style with cows is I believe, far more influential than you may believe. I saw in Australia a person showing how to communicate with cattle to get them herded rather than the usual forcing snd driving them about. So not the worst way to farm.
