I often got shoulder pain from reaching for my track pad. I now use a curved keyboard tray and a mouse platform at the end of my chair arm. I also keep a mouse on my left side to switch between the two during long sessions. I cut my desktop, shelves & keyboard tray with an arc that matches my natural reach. I did the same with my reach up and down. Create an environment that is adapted to you not the other way around. No sharp edges. Built in wrist rests
Sound advice. Have been experiencing shoulder 'twinges for a while now so a keyboard with the right-hand numbers (never used) a roller mouse and a bottle of Aleve should correct matters!
I have an ergonomic setup at home (Motor desk, keyboard tray, compact keyboard, ergonomic mouse, ergonomic foam cushion for feet) and I still have shoulder pain. I workout 4-5x a week. I've been working from home since Covid but do go into the office a few days out of the week and I only seem to have pain while in working at home instead of at work. Could this be because a lack of muscle weakness and endurance?
Haha man, I just read this and was like, "this seems familiar..." I think you had the same kind of comment on a Bob & Brad video, basically the same thing here --- pain at home, but not in the office (as much), despite investing a lot of time in ergonomics at home, working out the upper body and traps, etc. I saw a doctor who basically just brushed me off, "ah you're young, do some stretches, sit straight, shoulders back, you'll be fine." Really frustrating. Did you ever figure anything out that helped? Getting kinda desperate here...
I'm having issues with my forearms when I contract my elbow. Like if I bring my hand up to touch my shoulder from the front, my forearms start tingling within less than a minute. I have a Microsoft ergo 4000 keyboard that I've used for years, but I'm about to upgrade to a Kenesis Freestyle Pro. I was using an Evoluent vertical mouse and just swapped it to a Hippus Handshoe mouse a couple of days ago. Can you think of anything else to try? Oh. I have dual monitors but they were on one arm that wasn't easily adjustable. I'm switching those to be on two separate arms that are adjustable on the fly. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the helpful advice. I have been dealing with shoulder pain over the past couple months when at my desk and wasn't sure what the cause was. I immediately noticed a lot less should pain after switching to a narrower keyboard. I wish my old keyboard (Microsoft Ergonomic 4000) I really like came without the number pad attached. This week I am trying to get used to the newer (and narrower) wireless version. I am tempted to get out my hacksaw and make the old keyboard smaller!
Instead of calling it right shoulder pain why don't you call it "mouse shoulder pain" if the issue comes from how the mouse is placed/used. Because the name "right shoulder pain" is nonsense. Think about it.

Can you please tell me which keyboard tray you are using? I am having terrible pain and looking for a keyboard tray. Thanks in Advance
IBM trackpoint has helped a lot after I started using it. I rarely use a mouse.

Would love to know some excercises to relieve the pain. Also try to match your audio levels
wow that made an instant impact, thanks Steve you're a legend
If your a gamer you can invest in a gaming key board which is only about 1/4 the size and button count of a traditional keyboard
Thank you. This helped me diagnose my issue.
What about the Left Sholder (the keyboard arm) 😅 I'm in allot of pain
