  • Herbalist, Grower, and Medicine Maker, Greta Dietrich of Woodswise Botanicals, a certified botanical nursery, will demystify herbal medicine with a practical and grounded approach Learn the craft of tincturing, history, types of alcohol used, and reasons why we use a tincture instead of a tea, infusion or decoction. Greta will also cover when to use fresh or dried herbs, why it’s important to measure, how and why we must always label, determining dosage, as well as the responsibilities of being a medicine maker. In part 2, Greta begins by describing the weight-to-volume method.

I learned tincture from the traditional Mexican culture. I like to repeat the 30 days, removing and replacing with new leaves, to make it stronger. I believe that when the medicine is done with love, this added to the tinture additional healing properties.

Thank you so much for explaining the actual math method in a way I understood. This is so very helpful. You definitely helped raise my tincture making to a higher level.

I watched this 2 years ago, saved it, and ordered the book Herbal Antiobiotics by Stephen Harrod Buhner. I picked it up again as I'm currently enrolled in an herbal program. It IS such a GOOD book!!!! I appreciate that it includes a section on collection/which parts of the herb to collect, when and the differences between first year and such. Example: juniper berries. I am really looking forward to ordering and reading the other one, Herbal Antivirals. Also, regarding these videos-I like her series. Thank you Greta for the book recommendations and sharing your knowledge ❤.
