@1:33:44 James Hyter became a legend during 21 years of singing Ol' Man River with The Annual Sunset Symphony Orchestra that concluded the Memphis In May festivities. His involvement with the song began in 1968 with his portrayal of "Joe" in the musical Showboat production at (the then named) Memphis State University. He moved to Memphis with his parents from Alabama when he was a week old and remained in Memphis for the remainder of his life. He attended Booker T. Washington Highschool, served three years in the Army, and he also received an accounting degree at Henderson Business College. The Memphis community created The James A.Hyter Vocal Music Scholarship Fund. Hyter is known not only just for his outstanding performances in Memphis, but also for his European tours as a soloist with The Greater Memphis Choral, various regional and national symphonies including The Memphis Symphony. Hyter took the stage for the last time with the Sunset Symphony in 1998. He was 87 years old at the time of his passing. His historical marker stands in Tom Lee Park. Thank you, Mr. Hyster for sharing with Memphis and the world your beautiful baritone voice; what a great contribution! Job well done, Sir.🏆🎶🕊️

I never, ever imagined I would ever see this, but today was finally the day after 36 years. What happens here doesn't perfectly match my memory of the night, but enough of it does. I'm 95% sure I'm the boy with the ridiculous mop of hair at 1:26:01. I've always wondered how much of a goober I looked like staring awkwardly into the camera, and now I know. Thanks for uploading!
I wasn't old enough to appreciate what I was seeing, but I'm grateful to have personally seen James Hyter's "Old Man River", and we were up pretty close. I also clearly remember being at the ceremony for the first lighting of the Hernando-Desoto bridge that same year.

Rekindling old memories is the main reason I do this. Glad you found yourself in there that's amazing.
