    I'm getting one of these next year as a gift, my late grandfather got his from work and my aunt is giving that watch to me. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

      Sehr viel Trial and Error. Das Filament muss genau richtig sein, nicht zu steif und nicht zu weich.

    I do not understood why they made those cases like that. Well done on the restoration. My nephew is sending me his Cosmic to service...it will be my first Omega.

      I have now, after this project, worked on a few more Cosmic 2000 watches and I got used to it. What I learned and found quite cool is that you can basically have the inner tube completely installed and then swap the outer case with bracelets and so on (if you habe multiple different of these watches that is). And I find that pretty cool.
      Good luck with the Cosmic service and lots of fun with the watch for you nephew.

    Great video. I recently purchased a Cosmic 2000 where the movement assembly is not set. I think it needs a new O-ring (at 27:03). Do you know where I can source one that would fit?

    • @GermanWatchmakingChannel
      @GermanWatchmakingChannel  3 месяца назад +1

      The Original O-Ring is "088NS5083 | SEAL O-RING D31 D32.6 Ø0.8" You can still buy it on cousinsuk or maybe find it on ebay (if not sealed in omega packaging, it will not be the original tho ;) ).
      But any Rubber O-Ring between 31 and 32 mm with 0.7-0.8 mm thickness will do basically. You can get an assortment of all diameters at cousinsuk or even on amazon. In my opinion that makes more sense than to pay a lot for the "original" part. A bit of grease should be applied tho. Have fun with your new watch! regards

    Does the spring on the seconds pinion also provide a little pre load so the movement of the seconds hand is smooth?

    • @peterrumpelmayer457
      @peterrumpelmayer457 11 месяцев назад +2

      Yes. It is very important that the spring gives the right amount of pressure. Too little and the second hand can jitter or slip. Too much will cause too much friction and give bad accuracy and poor power reserve.

    Well done!How did you figure out the date jumper was the wrong one?

    • @GermanWatchmakingChannel
      @GermanWatchmakingChannel  9 месяцев назад +1

      The mechanism was not working as it should so I had a look at the part. Since there was no wheel actually engaging the day ring I looked it up on the spare parts sheet for the caliber 1022. Then I compared the 1020 - 1568 with the 1010 - 1568 part and saw that it is just different ones for the two movements. Pretty nasty trap to leave behind tho. And cost me about 30€ on ebay. Luckily the parts for the 1012-1022 movements are still widely accessible.

    Great video en very good quality. I am an amateur and started to service this caliber as well. I do have a lot of broken parts that I need to order. I find it difficult to find the spare parts. Can you help me out by letting me know how to get these parts? Thanks in advance.

      Hello. You will find a lot of the parts on ebay, or might as well find a donor movement that you can take the parts from. Otherwise I recommend checking out cousinsuk(dot)com. Under watch parts, branded, and then movement parts you will find a lot of brand new old stock parts that you can use. Sadly these days we have to pay VAT since it is not EU anymore but it might be very worth for other stuff as well (oils, gaskets, crystals, mainspring..) that are very cheap there. Depending on your movement you also wanna check out the parts for 1012 or 1021, sometimes a part will be listed there and not under 1022 even tho they are exactly the same parts (Except for the date stuff). Good luck.

    Hello, I need your help. first of all I would like to tell you that I love your videos. Being a watchmaker too, I am stuck on an Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000. Do you know where I can buy supplies for this watch? (glass, gaskets etc.) thank you very much!

    • @GermanWatchmakingChannel
      @GermanWatchmakingChannel  5 месяцев назад

      Hey, I can definitely help you. Since I restored this watch I have kind of specialized on the cosmic 2000 for some time. I found most of the needed things on cousinsuk(dot)com. With the reference number, lets say you have a 166.128 or 166.132 you can search under watch parts branded - omega for that exact reference. It might help to add a zero and search for 166.0128 or 166.0132 to find more results as a little hint.
      The case back gasket you will not find tho. To get you hand on the original is pretty difficult. You might be lucky to get them in some forums or 3D print your own (which is also not so easy to hit the right material). I also found some other solutions, you can hit me up on the email attached to this channel if you want me to elaborate further.
      The original crystal is a Ø31.0mm (2.00mm thinck) Mineral. I would really recommend to take a saphire of the same dimensions since it will not scratch. Also can be found on cousins. Let me know if there is something else you need to know or just write me on the email. reagards
