    My grandpa was a watch restorer. He'd get watches sent from all over the world to repair and I sit on the step by his shed and watch him. This video has reminded me of great times growing up. Thank you.

      Mine too. He was an engineer in the war, had stories from far flung places all over the world. Could turn his hand to anything. Growing up, I genuinely believed my grandpa could make anything

      For real, I had no idea how complex it was on it inside, I always thought there were just a few cogs. What's up with that spiral thing? How did the creators come up with this whole contraption? It's like old school mechanics.

      My father in law was a horologist and actually made me a watch it still works! I now appreciate just how much work went into that and will treasure it even more

    My father was a jeweller, watchmaker/ repairer. I love hearing your children in the background it reminds me of my childhood and watching (pardon the pun) my father work his magic on watches that no one wanted to try and repair. You truely remind me of my father and how clever he was repairing watches and jewellery. Thankyou for making me smile and reminisce. God bless you

      Things could be repaired more often, but sometimes it's almost cheaper to buy a new one. Also, years ago, people would do their own repairs, my dad repaired all kinds of things but sadly those skills are being lost because no one bothers anymore.

      It gets easier to remember once you’ve disassembled a movement a couple hundred times because you forgot something. It eventually gets easier, you learn where things go. ;) I just repaired my first watch as a hobby, it’s quite fun.

      Heart surgery isn‘t nearly as subtle. You can compare it to middle ear surgery, just as complicated and everything is minuscule and extremely fragile.

      I fully agree!While my children always have said, "Dad can fix anything!" I know where my limits are. Even if I had all of the necessary tools, this would be WAY beyond my skill set. You Sir are a very talented person!!!!

      Today it's probably easier than before, due to cheap and full HD video filming. Anyway, I'm sure they start with the easiest watches and then they move to more complicated. It's a learning process, like everything else.

      why are you blaming "society"? Blame companies that purposefully sabotage their products so it won't BE worth it to get the item repaired. and instead by a new one all over. When youre poor, thats just the lifestyle you can afford. You decant afford to buy longer lasting products because they have a higher upfront cost. Its not wrong for people to survive the best they can when companies aren't upholding their moral responsibility to make products that last so there won't be so much waste to begin with. Their greed has lead to environmental catastrophe. Not the consumers.

      It is a simple movement... after watching like ~100 watch repair/restoration/service videos you will start to recognise the pieces. Well, apart from screws, I still don't know how to recognise which one goes where.

    Words cannot express how impressed I am with your work. I recently had to send my TAG Heuer to the factory for a repair and it was very expensive. After watching you work, I will never again complain how expensive watch repair is.

    Good work. I work at a Jewelry repair shop in carefree az. We do some watch work but send most of it out to out 2 watchmakers.
    My grandfather was a Horologist and had a school of horology in Phoenix in the 40s and 50s. He always tried to teach me the trade but i was to busy chasing boys. Now i regret it daily.
    I just love watching the work being done.

    I have no idea how the hell I got to this channel but I am so glad I did. I have always admired watchmakers because of the time, patience, and steady hand they have to have. Amazing. The reflection in the glass of you dancing, and the comment about your "emo" daughter made me laugh.

    My first watch was a mechanical one. I don’t remember the maker but it had jewels and glowed in the dark (Radium) and that was very cool. I said good by to mechanical watches as soon as electronics became available. Never have to wind them everyday. Now I have an Apple Watch - have to charge it everyday. See how far we have come.;-) Watching these videos is strangely attractive. Maybe some day I’ll get a mechanical watch again and wind it every day.

      The movement is an ETA 2512, most watchmakers are used to work on these (and it's variants) and know the architecture.

    This was AMAZING and really demonstrated your impressive skills, plus you've got a fun personality and I even enjoyed the 'bad' singing lol. This video also made me suddenly remember a moment years ago when I observed my neighbour fixing watches. I was five and it was the most intriguing thing I had ever seen, but I somehow forgot about it until just now. So, thank you.
