I think the bypass should be just a bit higher up to get a slightly higher pressure in the negative spring. The surface area is smaller for the neg spring so it needs to have a bit higher pressure to perfectly balance the air spring. The Fox rear shocks do this. The same goes for the RockShox line of SoloAir forks. Bring back the DualAir system. It's just better. I just switched from a RS Pike to a MRP Ribbon Air with independent pos/neg air spring adjustments and it is so much better.
I have a 7 week old 2019 34 Float Performance Grip that sucks down its travel 20-25mm every single ride. I have to sit on the front tire and press up hard on the bars to get it to equalize the positive and negative chambers so it will extend to normal ride height..... Turns out this is a known issue due to either incompetent assembly with way too much grease fouling the bypass port, or just a bad design - or both..... My 1st and last Fox product.
Yeah, it seems if you are having any issue with Fox forks with the float NA air shaft. The FIRST thing to check is this, remove air shaft , clear of the huge glob of grease, and re apply a sensible amount of slick honey (or other cheaper alternative)
I called fox about this, when they assembled the air shaft there was to much grease. U need to take out the air shaft inside that stanchion is the air bypass ( it’s small ) use a screw driver with a rag on it to clean the grease out of it and u should be back to normal. Dnt use to much grease to reassemble
Bottom cylinder is fixed in the stanchion. Cant move upwards cause the inner diameter above it is smaller. Downward movement is stopped by a retaining ring in the stanchion right underneath the bottom cylinder. The upper cylinder is fixated at the bottom of the casting.
Can anyone confirm the difference between the NA and NA2 air shaft? I have a 2017 34 PE, just trying to find out exactly whats inside it, its not the EVOL shaft.
@@409nh8 jeah but the shortest shaft you can get is 140mm so if you would want your fork to be 100mm you would need to add some neg plate travel spacers and than the airshaft seal can't reach the bypass I think.
Yes, you need to buy a 130mm Air shaft. There's a few good videos on how to do this yourself, with a list of tools needed. Check on Fox tech page to get the model fork you have, so you order the correct air shaft.
Que feliz son los que tienen suspensión fox para es muy caro y no puedo comprarlo porque es muy caro mi horquilla es una suntour xct 26 es buena la xct 26 mi bici en giant talon 3 29 me dice si es buena
Simply put Fox makes such great products!
Veeeery informative! Always wondered what the float everywhere means xD

You wont beleve how much they have "progressed"

What does it mean when you have a hard top out? My forks clunk on top out like there’s no bump stop or something…
2009 fox float 36
There are quite a lot of posts and videos about "clicking sound" from Fox float air champer. Do you have suggestions how to solve that?
What about the riders weight and sag?
is this anything to do with why my 160 fork only sits at 150 when I'm not even on the bike?
Sir Marti Jack pump more air In It? worked for me...
you might not be set at the proper sag
Does the oil insde the air chamber (3cc, according to manual, SC32), goes down throught the bypass hole?
it does
que programa es el que ocupan para la simulación???????
What keeps that big bottom cylinder from being stuck at the bottom accidentally enlarging the negative air chamber?
Bottom cylinder is fixed in the stanchion. Cant move upwards cause the inner diameter above it is smaller.
Downward movement is stopped by a retaining ring in the stanchion right underneath the bottom cylinder.

So forks can be heated up after a long trail.
Air pressure effect
But if you would lower your fork 's travel than this bypass port won't work will it ?
No it will work. The airshaft is just shorter so all its doing is pulling the lowers up

How much cost this ?
Fox 34 Performance 2017 presumably. Version 140 mm. Can it be reduced to 130 mm?

Can the fox34 float rhythm 150mm (stock on giant trance 2) be increased to 160mm?
Yes, you just have to install the longer airshaft
Open it up,if you see a spacer you can remove it
rockshox: nah imma make a 30mm fork cuz y not
A little late on the season for new info.
Rockshox vs Fox
Which one??
My friends have pikes and they think my fox 36 performance elite is nicer but they are pretty similar and you can't go wrong with either
Broke the rebound on my fox 34, anyone know if it's fixable?
It is

You guys should read a short introduction of pedagogics - the explanation about the volume spacers is inconvenient.
Anyone else read the title and thought this would be a video of Michael J. Fox testing a matress?
Wow, reduces feedback to the rider. No engineer EVER said! Stupid marketing people that dont understand their products
hey fox: now just thank rockshox for the idea ...
+FOX marzocchi is better
