We build much of our life on assumptions. Alan Watts has a beautiful way of dismantling those assumptions, letting us down gently and then painting a new vision on a new foundation. Although Alan Watts passed away nearly 50 years ago, his words continue to make sense in a time where common sense is lacking. I am currently working with Alan Watts' son on a graphic novel to illustrate the wisdom of Alan Watts. If there are specific Alan Watts speeches you love and would like to see in the book, please send them my way (Email info@afterskool.net). And if you want to help support this venture, please consider supporting After Skool on Patreon. Thank you. www.patreon.com/AfterSkool

Your Watts video "The Illusion of Time, Money and Ego" jump started my journey and changed my life forever. I'm so happy you keep returning to the Watts well, the man's already a genius and yet your art takes his words and provides a whole new context that imaginations can really grab on to...and it takes his elevated concepts and makes them so much easier to understand. I am in grateful awe.

It puts you into a state where nothing matters in a good way. You truly don't give a shit about anything and you're just happy as fuck as a result, because nothing matters. Nothing matters, nothing means anything, there's nothing to do, there's no point, there's no goal but there's also no boredom, there's no negative meanings attached to the meaninglessness, it's just perfectly meaningless and it's awesome. You're basically just like sitting like a cat on a windowsill enjoying whatever experience is before it, just being and it feels amazing.

I am bursting out of tears, I have been spending my whole life trying to find evidence that nothing matters, but forgetting I am the one who is making things matter. Because of all this overwhelming thinking, it lead to stress symptoms and depression. I tried my best to make sense of everything around me, trying to find my own meaning in life than questioning it again. The more I think, the more everything falls apart. I feel lost in this universe, trying to find the definite universal truth, getting stuck in perspective thinking. It's just so distressing to think that everything is just perspectives and nothing is actually true.

People are drawn to the things he is talking about because these things have a tendency to resonate with us all. And the reason they resonate with us all is because they’re speaking to an ultimate truth that we all know. Deep, deep down, far, far in our very selves. The ultimate and undeniable truth. The thing WE ALL long for and seek, via different means. Love, joy and peace. An end to any and all suffering.

When I was 19, meditations revealed a great truth. I saw with my own eyes how we are all connected. Then later on I saw How the more we try to quantify existence the more shortsighted we become.
As children we get it. The world is colorful and one thing not parts. Then our societal enforcements systematically indoctrinate us into objectivism instead of subjectivism. Those people, that cloud, that land.
Such sensibilities ain’t spiritually sustainable. It creates walls where there are none. It cheapens life to a heartbreaking degree

I was aware of its presence on the wall, the flowers drawn on it, the shape of it. Before I could only see "a clock." I recognized it for its "meaning" its purpose, rather than actually seeing it. In this way we often see the world through a lens of interpreting things according to categories or stereotypes.

When I was young I heard an older person complaining that in this world problems are always 'solved' by creating new problems. I didn't quiet understand it then but I always remembered it.
I recently quit my job because I was over and over again getting this 'haven't-we-been-here-before' feeling .

The world itself is one single piece. But seemingly we're unable to draw any picture about the world, without cutting things into pieces our mind can cope with. The realisation of the world is rather a realisation of the observers limits. I really liked the video! Great work - thanks a lot!

I came across this video EXACTLY when I needed to hear it. Manifestation is a funny thing to observe as it's starting to unfold. Words and analysis will never capture that distinct feeling of alignment!

This video taught me how to write fiction. I kept trying to overanalyze every aspect of a story/novel. It's why I could never finish it. I kept dissecting it and it gave me the illusion that I was writing a book. However, I was back where I began again and again. I was no closer than where I started. It's not complicated. Stop investigating. Stop overanalyzing and overthinking. Just write the damn thing. Do it from your heart and be honest.
