I really like that you hav Not a "perfect" sniping gameplay in the Background. seeing you miss your target or the enemy running away is exactly what Most People Come across. keep up the good work!
personally i didn't find your tips too useful for my playstyle i like the proper snipers and to lay prone and the zeroing function is way more useful than staying on 100 meter and just winging the shot tho you did have a few good points that i use myself like not being scoped in too much and to move alot. tho for other people what might read this and are more like me and use the proper sniper versions i do atvice try to be as small of a target as possable if your behind the top of a hill of trench crawl up just enough to see your target and shoot and move after one or max two shots. P.S. i'm a console player so might be that this applies more to my and or the console playstyle.
Christofer Bajen I have 24 stars with gewehr95 infantry, and 18 stars with MHenry,and I have a job (carpenter),that mean that I have a life.Every gameplay I play the k/d ratio it's like 25 kills minimum,so yeah,not all the snipers are in the back of the map finishing the gameplay with 8/10 kills.

But console has more aim assist. Also, if you practice and hone your skills you can be better on console than most people on pc. Look at OneCheesyMofo for an example. He's probably better at aiming than a majority of pc players, and he plays on PS4.
Actually, that would only be true if you had a mouse against controller players. Sniping is easy on console because everyone else is using a controller too.
Nathan Wingard It's my favourite as well. I think it's very underrated because it doesn't have a sweet spot, but the quick reload, high RPM and the ability to stay scoped make it so deadly

I played this game for 26h, but I'm curious what other people use when they use the sniper a lot. I also notice that a lot of people just sit somewhere and wait, and thats something I cant really do. I just run around like a rat and shoot some heads when people run in the open
Westie why did you not mention the importance of spotting enemies, vehicles, mines etc while playing as a scout? A HUGE amount of BF players still neglect to spot and help out the whole team.
IMHO the sniper class is and should be used as more as harassment. You want to force your enemy to keep moving and not heal. I generally aim to lower the health and let my friends kill them off. You also want to drain their moral that way they die tired and without the will to live. That way they rage quit find the first sniping video on youtube and tell the world how guns need to fire rubber bullets...
He is a real player. Not one of these guys that just show the 1 killstreak that they went on in 4 games. I prefer people that put up gameplay of them doing well but also making mistakes as it shows how you can learn from them.
Quick tips()()>> The drifference between using a sniper and marksman variant A sniper variant comes with an bipod and higher magnification scope while the marksman comes with a palm rest and telescopic sight but however like wedgie said sniper variants give off that big white scope glimp while marksman variants do not. If you like that sniper version or it's the only one in its class such as the Russian 1895 which has no marksman try using the sniper shield to cover yourself and use the trench periscope this is the same as a 10x magnification scope but without a glimp so consider that. Or use the head on a stick this gives out a fake scope glimp and while you sit there and watch them snip the decoy they become marked and you can take them out. In closer to medium use the Flash flare gun to blind all of those enemies who see the scope glimp and take them out while they are blinded. :) leave a reply for more tips and other stuff on taking out tanks
Fantastic video! This is exactly how I see the scout. Moving around, spotting enemies, stay close to your team/platoon, short to middle range sniping... and so on. I hate players who lay on the ground in one spot to get a kill in a while. These guys will never understand this brilliant game. So many thanks for this fantastic video!

After advancing into betterment, I highly recommend going into the infantry variants of scout weapons... You can set magnification to 2x, versus the Marksman variant having 4x, which really has no noticeable advantage-plus, instead of sitting back like Chris Kyle, you can play the objective if your game mode includes capturing or pushing enemy lines. I never resort to any scope use accept for when all I want to do is counter-snipe from many hundreds of meters away. Scoped-weapons make close-quarter-combat quite difficult for abundantly clear reasons. Infantry variants are for the aggressive, skillful, close to long-range combatants who end up with many tens of thousands of points.
Personally if I'm using a long range scope, I switch to my secondary pistol and use that to scope in. While it's not 8x or 10x mag... it makes it easier to see and look for targets far away rather than use the scope, when you find the target, switch to sniper and take them out.
*I've been playing BF1, and the introduction of "elite" classes made me question/consider the following... Should future Battlefield titles incorporate weapon/gear weight? -Should opting for one gadget or no gadgets, instead of the default two, give the player a faster movement speed and the ability to scale objects? -Should over-equipping be an option, at the cost of no sprinting or even running, plus no scaling objects?*
Another gr8 tip not only to bolt-action rifles but also to some self-loading rigles and even pistols is reloading only when you have let's say on the Mark III 5 bullets, your reload animation will be much faster than reloading at 4 bullets. Because reloading a clip of 5 bullets instead of putting every single round one by one is quicker.
Mars auto is like shooting a cinderblock in your hand and watching it snuff a guy out in an instant It's crazy that it looks like an artillery piece exploding too when hip firing, hip fire kills are the most satisfying ever in this game for me I'm an enthusiast on the gun haha
looks like your mouse sensitivity is mega high and it's killing your sniper'in. So much of BF is at longer ranges and high sensitivity just makes you skip pixels as you aim and thus miss. The longer the range the more pixels skipped. Good rule of thumb, get a big mouse mat, 12" of mouse movement = 180* rotation, it will take a good few hours to get used to it but we'll worth the pain. BF1 also has some nasty nasty sensitivity multipliers dependant on zoom levels that you should switch off! there is a setting called "uniform soldier" that removes it and forces a consistent sensitivity through out. And lastly turn off mouse acceleration. Muscal Memory is pointless when the game is trying to "enhance" your sensitivity all the time. Also SMLE infantry or your doing it wrong :)
I think I'm doing something wrong. I use the following: -M1903 Sniper (Springfield) with x10 magnification -M1911 -Sniper Shield -Trench Periscope -Impact Grenade -Bedouin Dagger Am I doing something wrong? I think I am.
Best tip I can think of is from real World sniping: Don't silhouette yourself. Don't stand/crouch/lay anywhere where the light sky is behind you (top of the walls on Fao Fortress, top of ridges or rocks etc.) you stand out a mile. Also, if you're shooting through a window stand back away from the window so your gun doesnt stick out and announce your presence.
I like your points here, but I have to agree that these tips don't apply to everyone. I mainly use the Russian 1895 Sniper with 8x magnification, use the sniper shield and trip wire bomb, and tend to stay in one place, watching over a few objectives until I'm spotted.

Since I am a console player, I use the M1903 Experimental. When it comes to close quarters, I use it's pistol ammunition to take down enemies. When there's an enemy in the distance, I'll shoot him down, usually not succeeding on killing him. I might start using the Martini Henri Infantry once I get it.
bad tip not using zero, i can't count the times I've killed someone who was diddling with adjusting after every shot. USE THE ZERO FUNCTION btw periscope is god tier
I'll admit I am getting super frustrated with sniping. Every freaking shot seems to miss, and I am not entirely sure why. The scopes seem inaccurate af, and I'm about to give up on this damn game, tbh. Your video is my last hope, otherwise, I am done with this crap.
how do I compensate for the enemy team always being able to make a scout completely ineffectual or just being better? usually when I try sniping I just end up with a cavalry sword in my head or a model 10 jammed up my ass soon after spawning in, getting no practice and being unable to learn. how do I compensate for that westie?!
the thing I like about this guy/guide, is that he shows clips, in which he looks like a normal sniper. whenever I see a sniper guide, i see them run arround an headshotting everyone ect. But thank you for the guide, I knew most of the things but not the 4.00× Magnifier thing :)
I am using the same gadgets like you. But the K bullet is buggy for me. Sometimes when I switch to K bullet the game is not loading the K bullets into the rifle instead just pull up another rifle wich cant even damage vehicles. And I instantly turned off auto peek when I first loaded a game in multiplayer. Its just annoying for me.
Thanks a lot. Scout and medic are my worse classes so far but now I'm getting better with scout. I wish I could put my Lawrence of Arabia's SMLE skin on the marksman or carbine variant though
playing on PC looks amazing but it's soooooooooo much more easy to aim, seems like there is much less rocoil and so on... console on the other hand is a bit more challenging. On PC I dominated on anything I used easy. On my console, I can not do the same thing at well. I still play well but not with all those 200m+ headshot after headshot consistently
so I just redownloaded Battlefield one because I had the urge to play it. The first game I joined into, i ran 10 ft forward got sniped I then proceeded to equip smoke grenades and spawn on an objective. immediately i was suppressed by a sniper, I threw my smoke grenades towards the sniper then got shot by another sniper to the other side of me. I respawned yet again on the far side of the map trying to flank towards an uncontested objective halfway there I was sniped by someone all the way at the end of the map by the enemy Spawn sitting on a hill behind a bush. I respawned on one of my squad mates that was about to enter a fight, the gunfight was pretty crazy it was probably three of us and three of them and then more of our teammates ran to help and the same with their side and once there was only about 4 of us left and 1 of them, two snipers on the other side of the map killed all of my teammates that were there including me. I then proceeded to exit the game and delete Battlefield 1 for the same reason I deleted it in the first place
Will enabling uniform aiming assist me I play a close medium and far range scout dependant on the map and I want to know if I'm changing for x2/x4/x6 magnification am I always going to be loosing that muscle memory
I never really though of a K bullet as an annoying tactic... I always thought it sucked at taking out vehicles! Now it all makes sense.... finish off a tank that's in critical... thank you man! Its more viable for me now lol
Pretty much summed up my style of scout play. Another thing that messes with muscle memory is nerf & buff. Hope Dice doesn't get to crazy with it like activision 🙄
I'm getting a K bullet bug. Instead of the K bullet I get another gun with 5 round magazine and 25 bullets total, but when I kill someone it says that it's a K bullet shot. And the gun doesn't make any damage to vehicles. Does anyone get the same bug?
I have had so many games lately where the enemy team had about 15 snipers killing me and my team multiple times so many so that I've made a dedicated counter sniper class using the good old springfield I've killed 3 snipers in under a minutes it's the most gratifying feeling getting revenge on the snipers.
I don't get why you don't like the zeroing, personally it's very helpful and I have won several snipers vs sniper encounters because I don't have to compensate a lot compared to somebody who doesn't is zeroing
I can't snipe in this game. Don't know why but everyone in the Asia servers is like Deadshot. They never miss a shot, everytime i poke my head out i just died instantly. Side strafing doesn't help either.
These tips are what really work for me *misses 90% of shots* lol, not bashing just funny, I miss alot too still, sad part is I miss alot of shots that should be easy on enemies around 100m away that are still yet when I just shoot moving targets even further or in blimps it takes only 2 shots lol

I always wonder if your weapon is not so good with barrel. Do it have something to do with bullet drop on sniper weapon with barrels or without. I just play without, but do it have something so say? Yeah, sniping in this game as a casual is just straight up not fun. The comp players just snipe you with a 360 no scope from across the map (in my experience).
Hey guys just want to ask. At 4:00 when he ads the trees appear but when he unzooms they dissapear. Why is that, do high tech pc have this thing too?(I have a medium tech pc and it just hurts my eye's )

I like to use iron sights more only because I play the scout class pretty aggressive so I can PTFO. I find that the Fromer Stop get me out of most jams.
Always on the move while aiming but stop right before you are about to shoot and when suppressed find cover and don't shoot if you cant find cover then dont aim directly at the target because of random bullet deviation
Nothing about leading the target. That would have been good to see. Great tips nonetheless, I always mess with zeroing so I will keep away from that and see what happens.
i always had the k bullet but barely used it. with tripwire bombs i got more kills and it notifies me when there;s an enemy in that spot. so i know if they're nearby or going towards the objective. very usefull if used right

I see people in videos and when they snipe someone, they instantly knew how far that snipe was. How can they tell? I don't see any type of notification when I get the kill, that says anything about the distance.

I always use a trench periscope and a tripwire il use a spot and k rounds depending on the situation but for the higher magnification it's always better to use a trench periscope due to no glare plus u can spot for another sniper or just teammates
During the whole video you were using the sniper with equipt bayonet. Here comes my question-do you use bayonet on your sniper often or it is just for the video

forgot to say that when scouts use the metal plate cover in there gadgets use the k bullets to kill them through it
It is also easy to shoot them through the hole they look out of as a scout.
It also goes thru Special dudes Armour.

Should future Battlefield titles incorporate weapon/gear weight?
-Should opting for one gadget or no gadgets, instead of the default two, give the player a faster movement speed and the ability to scale objects?
-Should over-equipping be an option, at the cost of no sprinting or even running, plus no scaling objects?*

Another gr8 tip not only to bolt-action rifles but also to some self-loading rigles and even pistols is reloading only when you have let's say on the Mark III 5 bullets, your reload animation will be much faster than reloading at 4 bullets. Because reloading a clip of 5 bullets instead of putting every single round one by one is quicker.

bit off topic but I actually love the Autoloading 35. something about the fast fire rate and lack of rounds just makes me perform carefully and fast

yeah it's not like sniping is easy or anything
looks like your mouse sensitivity is mega high and it's killing your sniper'in. So much of BF is at longer ranges and high sensitivity just makes you skip pixels as you aim and thus miss. The longer the range the more pixels skipped. Good rule of thumb, get a big mouse mat, 12" of mouse movement = 180* rotation, it will take a good few hours to get used to it but we'll worth the pain.
BF1 also has some nasty nasty sensitivity multipliers dependant on zoom levels that you should switch off! there is a setting called "uniform soldier" that removes it and forces a consistent sensitivity through out. And lastly turn off mouse acceleration. Muscal Memory is pointless when the game is trying to "enhance" your sensitivity all the time.
Also SMLE infantry or your doing it wrong :)

-Sniper Shield
-Trench Periscope
-Impact Grenade
-Bedouin Dagger

you really dont need a scope i have 400 kills with the smle infantry with the 2x magnification
It's easier to aim with ironsights at close range, making encounters more consistent.
Best tip I can think of is from real World sniping: Don't silhouette yourself. Don't stand/crouch/lay anywhere where the light sky is behind you (top of the walls on Fao Fortress, top of ridges or rocks etc.) you stand out a mile. Also, if you're shooting through a window stand back away from the window so your gun doesnt stick out and announce your presence.
I like your points here, but I have to agree that these tips don't apply to everyone. I mainly use the Russian 1895 Sniper with 8x magnification, use the sniper shield and trip wire bomb, and tend to stay in one place, watching over a few objectives until I'm spotted.

Since I am a console player, I use the M1903 Experimental. When it comes to close quarters, I use it's pistol ammunition to take down enemies. When there's an enemy in the distance, I'll shoot him down, usually not succeeding on killing him. I might start using the Martini Henri Infantry once I get it.
bad tip not using zero, i can't count the times I've killed someone who was diddling with adjusting after every shot. USE THE ZERO FUNCTION btw periscope is god tier
I'll admit I am getting super frustrated with sniping. Every freaking shot seems to miss, and I am not entirely sure why. The scopes seem inaccurate af, and I'm about to give up on this damn game, tbh. Your video is my last hope, otherwise, I am done with this crap.
how do I compensate for the enemy team always being able to make a scout completely ineffectual or just being better? usually when I try sniping I just end up with a cavalry sword in my head or a model 10 jammed up my ass soon after spawning in, getting no practice and being unable to learn. how do I compensate for that westie?!
the thing I like about this guy/guide, is that he shows clips, in which he looks like a normal sniper. whenever I see a sniper guide, i see them run arround an headshotting everyone ect.

I am using the same gadgets like you. But the K bullet is buggy for me. Sometimes when I switch to K bullet the game is not loading the K bullets into the rifle instead just pull up another rifle wich cant even damage vehicles.
And I instantly turned off auto peek when I first loaded a game in multiplayer. Its just annoying for me.
i use almost every tip in your vid but i still suck, and the aniper class is my favorite class :(
Try using the carbine variants of guns with low magnification. This makes it so much easier to hit shots.
Thanks a lot. Scout and medic are my worse classes so far but now I'm getting better with scout. I wish I could put my Lawrence of Arabia's SMLE skin on the marksman or carbine variant though
Westie why when you get revived by a medic do you have to switch your gun to fire? Is this a glitch and will dice fix it?
playing on PC looks amazing but it's soooooooooo much more easy to aim, seems like there is much less rocoil and so on... console on the other hand is a bit more challenging. On PC I dominated on anything I used easy. On my console, I can not do the same thing at well. I still play well but not with all those 200m+ headshot after headshot consistently
so I just redownloaded Battlefield one because I had the urge to play it.
The first game I joined into, i ran 10 ft forward got sniped I then proceeded to equip smoke grenades and spawn on an objective. immediately i was suppressed by a sniper, I threw my smoke grenades towards the sniper then got shot by another sniper to the other side of me.
I respawned yet again on the far side of the map trying to flank towards an uncontested objective halfway there I was sniped by someone all the way at the end of the map by the enemy Spawn sitting on a hill behind a bush.
I respawned on one of my squad mates that was about to enter a fight, the gunfight was pretty crazy it was probably three of us and three of them and then more of our teammates ran to help and the same with their side and once there was only about 4 of us left and 1 of them, two snipers on the other side of the map killed all of my teammates that were there including me.
I then proceeded to exit the game and delete Battlefield 1 for the same reason I deleted it in the first place
Will enabling uniform aiming assist me I play a close medium and far range scout dependant on the map and I want to know if I'm changing for x2/x4/x6 magnification am I always going to be loosing that muscle memory
I like using the periscope. Allows me to gauge range better and sight the rifle correctly.
I never really though of a K bullet as an annoying tactic... I always thought it sucked at taking out vehicles! Now it all makes sense.... finish off a tank that's in critical... thank you man! Its more viable for me now lol
Pretty much summed up my style of scout play. Another thing that messes with muscle memory is nerf & buff. Hope Dice doesn't get to crazy with it like activision 🙄
I'm getting a K bullet bug. Instead of the K bullet I get another gun with 5 round magazine and 25 bullets total, but when I kill someone it says that it's a K bullet shot. And the gun doesn't make any damage to vehicles. Does anyone get the same bug?
I have had so many games lately where the enemy team had about 15 snipers killing me and my team multiple times so many so that I've made a dedicated counter sniper class using the good old springfield I've killed 3 snipers in under a minutes it's the most gratifying feeling getting revenge on the snipers.
I don't get why you don't like the zeroing, personally it's very helpful and I have won several snipers vs sniper encounters because I don't have to compensate a lot compared to somebody who doesn't is zeroing
I can't snipe in this game. Don't know why but everyone in the Asia servers is like Deadshot. They never miss a shot, everytime i poke my head out i just died instantly. Side strafing doesn't help either.
I just use the K-bullets on infantry and I do good which means M1907 Springfield infantry is in the multiplayer just with tiny anti vehicle use
These tips are what really work for me *misses 90% of shots* lol, not bashing just funny, I miss alot too still, sad part is I miss alot of shots that should be easy on enemies around 100m away that are still yet when I just shoot moving targets even further or in blimps it takes only 2 shots lol

I always wonder if your weapon is not so good with barrel. Do it have something to do with bullet drop on sniper weapon with barrels or without. I just play without, but do it have something so say? Its better with or without? See that u use it wth barrel on ur videos. thanks to the other tips westie :)
Yeah, sniping in this game as a casual is just straight up not fun. The comp players just snipe you with a 360 no scope from across the map (in my experience).
Hey guys just want to ask. At 4:00 when he ads the trees appear but when he unzooms they dissapear. Why is that, do high tech pc have this thing too?(I have a medium tech pc and it just hurts my eye's )
I hate the sniper variants i always try to run with the G.98 sniper but as soon as i aim everyone knows where i am and there's no way to hide it, sniping is sniping anymore, all everyone does is quick scope with the marksman variants

I like to use iron sights more only because I play the scout class pretty aggressive so I can PTFO. I find that the Fromer Stop get me out of most jams.
Always on the move while aiming but stop right before you are about to shoot and when suppressed find cover and don't shoot if you cant find cover then dont aim directly at the target because of random bullet deviation
Nothing about leading the target. That would have been good to see. Great tips nonetheless, I always mess with zeroing so I will keep away from that and see what happens.
It's funny cause he says stick to a magnification but I switch between the spring field sniper and the gewher 95 marksman and I get plenty of kills
i always had the k bullet but barely used it. with tripwire bombs i got more kills and it notifies me when there;s an enemy in that spot. so i know if they're nearby or going towards the objective. very usefull if used right

Westin I thought that Marksman Scopes were 4x, 5x, and 6x, while Sniper variants were 8x, 10x, and 12x.
I'm just not a huge fan of Scout's gadgets. Apart from spotting flares and trench periscope, none of it aid your team in any way :/
'the scout class has powerful assets you can use to help your team' - 99% of scouts are unaware they are in a team, they use FPS as a personal shooting gallery.
I see people in videos and when they snipe someone, they instantly knew how far that snipe was. How can they tell? I don't see any type of notification when I get the kill, that says anything about the distance.

I always use a trench periscope and a tripwire il use a spot and k rounds depending on the situation but for the higher magnification it's always better to use a trench periscope due to no glare plus u can spot for another sniper or just teammates
