  • * I forgot to mention in the video that the type of crackle medium I use is the "Folk Art" brand. I can find it at Hobby Lobby always.*
    In this video I remake a broken miniature I have had for a long time into something I know I can use in my projects: an aged leather wing back chair. Enjoy!
    Also if you have any suggestions for miniatures you would like to see me make leave a comment for that as well!

    I been subscribe to you like 12 videos ago. I just want u to know I have been through so much in the last past year with losing my husband of 20 n my best friend... I lost so much. My home all my miniatures n supplies n things I had... I thank u for ur videos because it helps me to remember the good times. When u speak of ur Family in other videos n ur husband n how he may want to get the babies out of the room...lol. Just so much that u do takes me back when u speak. I have not seen one video of your I didn't love. I love ur personality, your honesty and how humble you are. I see a superstar...and yet ur so humble. N you were just so cute on ur live video when u we're excited that people started talking to you. Ur just adorable. N your talent is extraordinary. Thanks for your videos. Please don't ever change... You never know who you could be helping as you been helping me get through my lost... Just taking my mind off my pain. I just love watching you. Thanks again n may God bless u and ur Family.

      Yakeema, I am so sorry to hear you have gone through so many losses. Especially losing your husband, I can only imagine is extremely difficult. I am glad that in some small way my videos can bring you some joy. You have no idea how much your words mean to me and I will keep you in my prayers. You have also reminded me to be thankful for what I have right now as I know things can change in an instant. May God bless you as well my friend!

    Hi Ara, thank you for another fabulous video tutorial. I love how you remade this mini leather armchair with paint and Crackle medium. Have you ever tried Crackle Accents by Ranger? It's a shiny 3D crackle medium that you can use on miniature artworks to create lots of the sort of very fine cracks that you see on old paintings where the paint has cracked over time. There's also a product by Pentart called 2 - Part Fine Line Crackle Varnish that creates the exact look of old porcelain with fine cracks. You brush on the first part and let it dry, and then brush on the top coat which cracks as it dries, and you can use a hair-dryer or heat gun to make more cracks appear. When that's dry you highlight the cracks with any solvent - based antiquing paste or even eye shadow powder works perfectly. I use a cheap eye shadow palette of earthy colours, but you can use any colour you like. Whatever you use to highlight the cracks must be solvent based or it won't work. The other product I want to tell you about is Dixie Belle's 'Dirt' which is a powder pigment that comes in charcoal grey, light silver grey or brown - which is the colour I have. It's made for brushing over clear wax to give a vintage look to painted furniture but it's great for creating the look of real dirt in miniature abandoned buildings and haunted houses. 👻

    Such a awesome "re-do" !! I'm trying this soon on an old chair that's too good to toss, but I've not known quite what to do with it...you've come to the rescue once again!! Thank you!

    Love it! Leather finish reminds me of the patina taken on by old barber chairs. I think the only thing I would do differently is... Brass furniture tacks for old leather furniture. Beautiful work. 👍😊

    💜 I have to say, you have the best channel on RUclips for this. They fed me your Adam's Family ending video randomly, and I am so glad they did. You are so talented. Plus you go through each piece you can with us, which is so much, so I know I'm not the only one who appreciates it. I already made even smaller minis for bottlecap jewelry, but you have inspired me. I'm making Harry Potter's cupboard under the stairs. I just started, so I will send pictures when it's worth looking at. Lol Keep it up woman! You are awesome!

    If you don't want the aged look and want a new black leather chair, would you just mod podge, paint black and mod podge again?

    Looks great! I have seen others use gesso instead of mod podge as a base coat. What are your thoughts on that?

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  5 лет назад

      I think if it works for them then that's great! I think mod podge would probably create a smoother surface to give the leather effect... but gesso may as well. Not sure. Thanks!
