- In this Genshin Impact Origins video I tell the story of possibly the most misunderstood character: The Electro Archon Raiden Ei! This video took AGES to produce but I could not be more pleased with how it came out. I hope you all love it too!

Technically Ei is one of the original Archons since her and her sister ruled together, so if she had the gnosis instead of her sister she would still be the original Archon but since the gnosis changed hands she's considered the second.
I always thought they shared it... Like somehow they both were attuned to it at the same time.
Well, the way I see it goes something like this:
If the president of a country has a twin who works for him as his private assassin, do you consider the twin the president too? They didn't rule together. Ei just fought all of Makoto's innevitable battles. Once her sister died and she gained the Gnosis, Ei became an archon, The Second Electro Archon.
She technically the first archon but not officially since its can only be one archon, which is why she "suicide" so makoto can become archon

We’ve heard it all before, yet the story of the archons, and how they lost their closest friends, is still as tragic as when we learned the story of venti.
I guess it’s the ways they deal with their losses that makes it sound completely new once again.
Venti took the form of his long gone friend, so that he may never forget his closest friend to have ever been.
Zhongli became the living encyclopedia we know today, and dedicated himself to his duty as an archon.
Ei so far has taken it the worst, I think. She straight up abandoned everything relating to a future, and tortures herself by refusing to move on and reminiscing of the past that never will be again.
Thinking of this really put her character quest in a different light to me. It wasn’t about how the people view the Raiden Shogun, but it was rather a wake up call to Raiden. She still pursues eternity, but realized that the eternity she seeks is clearly not the right way for her, or anyone, because it’s impossible to go back.
That’s exactly how I interpreted her quest as well. It provided tremendous growth for her. She’s starting to realize the flaw in her implementation…. And that what she hoped to accomplish was impossible.

@@TeyvatHistoria - There was a line that struck me when I did her quest. Her line was "Perhaps... Perhaps I've been holding on to everything too tightly". It was such a beautiful line and hearing her say that herself was such a great development for her character.
@@kikovillanueva7189 How good is her character quest? Around the time it came out, I have heard mixed reception. Some enjoyed it and found Ei very cute while hanging out with her, while others were disappointed that they got that instead of a good in depth look of her character through her dealing with the aftermath of the Inazuma Archon Quest while witnessing the impact of the Vision Hunt Decree she established left on her people
@@granmastersword - People had mixed receptions because people had different expectations for her after the Archon quest. People who wanted to learn more about her after the events of the Archon quest liked her story quest. People who wanted to learn more about her past and her lost friends that were shown in her teaser probably didn't like it because it focused solely on Ei. So, I guess it depends on your expectations after what happened in the Archon quest.
@@kikovillanueva7189 well, there was also the bit that many, even the CN players, felt disappointed with the quality of the Archon Quest, feeling somewhat rushed and underutilizing characters like Kokomi that had plot potential because Mihoyo really wanted to boost sales for Ei's banner, which from what I have seen it was a success
My favorite character is Fischl, I like how she decided to turn make-believe into reality, in a way that allowed her to become a better person, without losing sense of where she really came from.
Fischl is indeed one of the greats!
Its a little leak acknowlegy, but theres supposedly a book coming wherein Makoto creates Ei, based upon Ei. And that Ei had once before given over her power so that Makoto could rule, thinking her to be better at the job. The Archon of Transience may have at one point given her all to become makotos sword, makoto reforged that sword into Ei as we know her, and she once again, turned herself back into a sword, despite not remembering her having done so in the past.
Its, a wierdly and maybe fitting cycle for an Archon of both Transience and war.

@@beashemmad.sayson545 Kinda agree, but I's also not willing to believe some fo the 'fictional' branded stories actually are in a setting with cyclical storytelling and roles.
If Ei were created, perhaps it may have been with Kitsune saiguu's assistance, and the Yae provided the help and techniques later on for Ei to advance her plans and move forward construction her own bodies [Scara/shogun]. The scrolls did mysteriously appear... and Yae seems to take responsibility and care with Scaramouche as Ei herself implies she does.
If Saiguu left notes and knowledge, Yae may be the one pulling strings, and fully aware Ei might also have been created and all her ancient friends wanted her to open up, and find her own excitement and reason to live in and enjoy the moments.
Imo, it's like... Guoba lost his old identity as Marchosius. He was a black slate and an innocent once again and has to start over, but Ei was surrounded by friends and had her sister.
Character wise: The assessment that Fictional Ei, might find herself lacking and choose to devote her power to helping her sister ascend instead of herself is righteously in keeping with Ei's character. Her knowing it to be denalable and false... is kind of outside of her knowledge.

The closest I have seen to Ei reliably living in the moment of her own volition and initative, is trying to convince traveller to spar with her. Even going so far as to pretend to be the Shogun thinking he might not be able to face her seriously.
That, unbidden! Conforms to all of her values, It's inside what peoples expectation of her is, so it's allowed.. training with people whose company she likes is something she enjoyes, working to better herself (Growing) and also being considerate of others, putting their feelings before her own... but also being selfishly motivated and, needy?
Honkai stated Fischl is an Isekai Traveler. See Sonic the Hedgehog's Storybook Series, Shield Hero,… See also 'Alice'.
My favorite character has to be Hans Archibald (also known as "fake" Stanley). Originally, I expected him to be just another endless liar in a multitude of fandoms, but ended up having my own heart shattered into pieces of how he wishes to make his friend a legend by living as him.

My favorite character is Raiden. Her loneliness was something that really hit home for me, and I could really relate to how she handled it, making choices I’d later deeply regret.

This video actually made me appreciate Ei more, unlike other Archons her history for me is much more rich and somehow much more relatable as her being the second body double to Makoto doing the battles that Makoto couldn't do thus making her "The Warrior" that has suffured from great PTSD which affects her decisions later on. Don't get me wrong ZhongLi and Venti also has great history but unlike Ei they both are portrayed as this typical God of Peace or giver of Peace as Ei is portrayed as this true warrior that deviates from the typical Archon personality.
My favorite character is Hu Tao, I just enjoy her personality and how despite the darkness of her field she manages to make it feel warmer.

Zhongli is definitely my favorite. Not just because his English voice is so gorgeous, but also his incredible breadth of knowledge paired with that occasionally painful lack of practical understanding is so amusing. It's strange to contrast his brutish warlord persona from the archon wars with his cultured presentation in the present, but in those moments of "how can someone so learned be so foolish" you can see hints of his historical recklessness.
'Sieg Geon!' Zhongli's EN VA seems to be Gundam's Char… Yeah, Colony Drop / Colony Fall…
He wasn't brutal.
He just kept is cool a little too much
But it was useful by decreasing the chance of foolish mistakes.

Ei's story puts her sharing the top spot for me with Albedo. Both of them are my favorites due to their stories being so great compared to the rest of the characters. Ei's story of loss and Albedo's mysterious origin all make the game so much better.
Let us not forget that Albedo and the Raiden Shogun puppet are likely cut from the same cloth so to speak.

@@Outlaw58D I have a sneaking suspicion that the ancient lost art Ei used to build the puppet was khemia, or if not, then it’s still a form of Khanrea’ah technology.
While the Archons so far have lost as part of them. Ei is the first one we meet where this is a major theme in their Archon quest.

My favorite character has to be Kaeya. Despite presenting himself as an open book, he clearly has a mysterious past and his origins seem much more complex than the traveler is led to believe. His possible connections to Khaenri’a and the abyss are fascinating and I hope we get to learn more soon. Even the parts of the past that we do know, such as his estranged relationship with Diluc, reveal a lot about Monstadt’s past and his current motivations. His design is also remarkable considering he’s a free character. Kaeya’s also a crazy fun physical DPS!

I'm so excited to learn more about his backstory! Recently I watched a stream where someone played the prolog and know I have this weird feeling that Kaeya, just like Dain, already is aware of our sibling. Not only does he seem very suspicious about the traveler when meeting them the first time but he also comments about the travelers style of gliding, saying something along the lines that he remembers a similar style of gliding from long ago. 👀 Ahh~ I can't wait for the story to focus on the Abyss again.
As soon as I saw The shogun's name in the title, I knew this video would be good. Ei's complex history makes her such a good character in game and for theorists to pick apart. She's by far my favourite character.

My favorite character eh? It's gotta be Ei! Her design is beautiful, and her playstyle is amazing. Her story is complex and is still unfinished, because she still has things to learn.

my favorite character has gotta be venti tbh, his story and his struggle with loss resonate deeply with me, as well as the way he used to deal w that pain. it might sound sad, but i find it helpful to my own journey through life

Xiao has been my favorite character ever since I saw his beta footage. Learning more about his story only made me like him even more. A silent proctector, the solitary guardian of Liyue, the very last Yaksha, the golden-winged adepti are only some of the many title he bears. He had to fight for a tyrant, and was saved by the god of contracts. He had (probably) to kill the former Yakshas once they succombed to the darkness, an unimaginably painful experience. I can't wait to have more information on his interactions with Venti!! I love everything (except the english voice) about him: I love how he's so agile, which is showed in his gameplay, I love how the pain he has to endure is part of his kit. It really shows that Mihoyo put a lot of effort in this character.

I'm very pleased that this video was made, because some didn't really see the pain that pushed her to go ahead with her idea of eternity. My love for her character was already set in stone, but now it's engraved in time.

My favorite character is definitely Venti. He has a fun loving attitude and is a free spirit (of course), but he in a way began the trend of when you hear the story of the archon's past, it makes you cry for an hour and a half.

I’ve been basically obessed with Kaeya since day one and after I learnt more about his lore he became one fo my favourite characters hence I even main him (although to me current archons we got introduced to all have very compelling interesting backstories and I love them a lot too)

Thank you so much for this video. It made me cry. I relate to Ei so much, she’s become my favourite character as a result of all she’s lost and endured, as well as the obvious post-traumatic stress she suffers wherein she is obsessed with avoiding any further loss, even at the halting of progress and of the future.
Having endured more than my own share of trauma, the theme of her character and story resonates deeply within me.
I’m glad her story, and my interpretation of it was able to reach you in such a way. That’s what it’s really about. Sharing my passion for these amazing stories, and giving us all a way to absorb them in a more meaningful way.

People may not mind, but I'd want to share my thoughts about your narrative. I'm not sure how to express it in English, but it goes something like this. It's difficult to grasp what you're trying to say, just like it is with poetry. It's strange since I had no issues with any of your earlier videos. But in this video, I kept losing track.
Tbh i really love amber, Her existence in the manga just puts a smile on my face. i really love her personality and backstory which gives me all the reason to love her even more!
Same,I wish mihoyo buff her so she have her manga ver power. Like, at least make shield as one of cons or something.

As much as I feel bad for Ei and the loss that has traumatized her, it still doesn't justify her unwillingness to listen to the voices of her people or even her remaining few friends. In my eyes she is very much like a young and naive teenager, selfishly thinking all their problems would be solved if the world around them simply didn't change, she then goes and makes a puppet to govern her nation while she isolates herself- which is a terrible idea for someone who is obviously still mourning the loss of her friends and sister. She lacks the wisdom Makoto had as the face and soul of the 'Electro Archon'.
A lot of people hate her story quest where we take her out to see present day Inazuma, but I love it! It was what Ei needed! She needed to see with her own eyes how her people are doing, and in a way show how her vision of unchanging eternity is useless and even cruel to both her and her people.
Ei needs people to challenge her ideals, but they can't do that when she's stuck in her own world so its up to the Traveller because Yae Miko will just do what she's told most of the time and the other Archons just mind their own business. And with the Raiden Shogun being created to stop anyone who threatens her ideal of "Unchanging Eternity" including herself it feels like this will only end in tragedy somehow... Kunikuzushi I'm looking at you specifically.
Oh we certainly will have an issue with our boy Scaramouche in the future.
The thing with 'unwillingness to the voices of her people' is that... her own subjects lied to her. The Tri-commissions which are supposed to give accurate reports of what happens in Inazuma just hid the fact that the civil war was still raging on and that people were a lot more opposed to the Vision Hunt Decree than she thought. The Kanjou and Tenryou Commissions basically made sure that the 'this situation threatens Eternity = stop current situation'-protocol in the Shogun Puppet never activated. And... the only other person Ei had when she isolated herself was Yae Miko. Everyone else was dead. And Miko didn't seem to try to snap Ei out of it either.
Such a beautiful video. She has an amazing story. Her tragic losses make her so vulnerable and likeable. Even though she is a fierce warrior, mourning portrays her as a teenager who locks herself away because of how sad she is. She is a relatable and realistic character.
Ninnguang is my favorite. Not just because she climbed out of poverty through hard work, but she still remembers how to be humble and is actually pretty funny with her moments with beidou
My favorite character is Aether, i think that for a protagonist he's got a pretty unique design.
My favorite character is Xiao. I'm a sucker for a tortured soul. His character design is amazing. I love the color palette they chose for him and his outfit as well. Most of all, I love how he interacts with the traveler and does things for her (I play as Lumine) that he wouldn't do for anyone else. His karmic debt pain has lessened as a result, too. His Japanese VA is also one of my faves from anime.
Praise Venti the tone deaf bard who helped Xiao retain his sanity with his powers, allowing him to be around in stable conditions
This was absolutely fantastic!!! You did an astonishing job with the video and description of Ei. I am all about samurai culture and the shogun was the main ruler in the Edo period of Japan. The Raiden Shogun will forever be remembered as a Great Warrior, a wise leader, a mother to Scaramouche, and a friend.
4:30 "Transience" was actually Makoto's ideal; exact opposite of eternity/stagnation. When she she died and Ei took over her identity as her kagemusha is when Ei was disillusioned and moved Inazuma toward the ideal of Eternity as a response to all her loss.
I loved the theme of this video, the effects you chose and the atmosphere your narration creates. Absolutely amazing. My favorite character is Xingqui. I look forward to more videos from you either way! :)

Just like ChaosFlute, my favorite character is Zhongli for the same reasons - the quirky combination of a gentle, high-society living encyclopaedia and brutal warlord.
Also, he is the relentless enforcer of contracts, but, whenever he gets the opportunity, he is very conpassionate, as Havria's story shows: he took her refugees in without asking anything in return or even signing a contract with them. They needed shelter, he gave it to them. Her descendents even get away with insulting him on His face!
Oh boy you can't imagine how often I wished that time stands still forever... Ei is such a relatable character. "Where there is progress there must be loss." I feel that quote💖 May the Electro Archon protect you⚡️🌩
My favorite character is childe. He has 10 minutes of soundtrack all to himself, has a very mysterious backstory, and is the most caring big brother in all of teyvat!
My favorite character is Childe. I see myself in him because like him, I also love to seek out tough challenges in real life but still capable of being a responsible and good family man. His thirst for battle reflects my desire to be a better person than who I am now

Aether's gotta be my fav charatcer. The feeling of being isekai-ed into another world you know nothing about being shared with an in game character and the perspective it offers is pretty cool. Plus the feeling of growth and you learn more and more about the world and unlock new powers appeals to me.
My favorite character is Beidou. She's the one who made me an i-frame god practicing from her counter skill which is the best skill of the game. She so fun and strong although i've sit her on a bench in such a long time when new character arrive but she'll always be my day one.💕
My favorite character is Venti, he just has a fun personality and looks cool. Plus, he was my first five star and still is a carry for me to this day
Makoto, Sasayuri, Chiyo and Saiguu all met a painful death. Which led to Ei too afraid of making new friends, cause she would be scared to lose them too. Imagine if the Traveler befriended her he died at the end, would that be terrifying enough a thought for Ei too ? 😢
Favorite character to play is Xiangling because Pyronado brrrr but I’ve been thinking lately how much I love Fischl’s story. The story kinda gives me trans-coded vibes ngl. It’s not perfect but it’s relatable so I love and appreciate it.
Ei is such a tragic character. She lost damn near almost everything, even almost losing inazuma itself.

Wonderful video, great job with the visuals especially. My current favorite character is actually Thoma, even though he’s not quite out yet. His role in fighting the vision decree and saving the traveler, for starters. but the wholesomeness of the hot pot scene along with all of his hangout events (I cried laughing at the cats and dogs with sweaters ending!) just makes my heart happy.
Second would be Zhongli, because the juxtaposition of his current persona, being wise, logical, and calm vs his ancient history of war, domination, and unrelenting punishment for those who break contracts (think the Sal Tarrae character quest) is absolutely fascinating. It shows not just character development, but flashes of who he used to be, in conjunction with his power to both protect and destroy. As if protecting (jade shield) is who he is now but destroying (meteor) are his present and past respectively. I love this game’s lore so much, so I love watching your channel!

Kazuha is my favorite character ! His lore is really interesting, it's just different from others (despite losing his friend). The fact he fled Inazuma to Liyue is so interesting. When I watched his trailer, I found his voice so soothing as well !! His character design is really different as well. Looking at the other Inazuman characters' outfit designs, they're nothing like Kazuha's. The fact that Kazuha has a bandage on his right hand because he burnt his hand whilst holding the vision is so cool.

My favorite character is Ganyu. She's the opposite of me. Work efficient, reliable, better sleeping schedule than me. I also like learning about how she has found it difficult to be the bridge between two worlds.

But personality-wise, it's Kujou Sara because of our similarities: growing up in a military family (my grandfather was really strict, but thankfully my father is less strict and let's us enjoy any hobby we want to growing up), and my obsession with having three of everything 😅

Awesome video as always Teyvat Historia was able to grasp the depth behind Ei and her strange ways... I personally loved the Inazuma Archon quest and it is true certain parts were a bit told instead of shown, but in the end there was just too much to say to fit in the 3 act parts format. We can discover the rest slowly as we keep exploring the lore of Inazuma...
My favorite character is Childe, first of all, his design is amazing and sleek, really showing his battle prowess off through his clothing. His personality is one that shows friendliness with hidden intentions behind it and we see that in the Archon quest. His training in the abyss and his moves that correlate with the Abyss herald have a sense of mystery surrounding them. Can't wait to see his story continue in the future. Also Griffin Burns is an amazing voice actor for Childe.

My favorite character is Ganyu, she is sweet to everyone and is possibly the hardest working character in the game. I can relate with no character more, as I totally resonate with pushing yourself to total exhaustion for the good of yourself and others. I also love her play style in the game, with massive bow damage and a crazy fun burst as well. Also, ties to the moon are dope, and her plenilune gaze constellation makes one of my favorite connections to her character design.
Got back into genshin impact and finished inazuma and sfter defeating Ei i was soo intrigued with her story, wanting to understand her story alot more my bestfriend who loves gi and loves her and seeing this video.
I've dedicated everything to my beloved Hu Tao ever since her release, still been farming artifacts to perfect her.
My favorite headcanon is that Ei gave Razor and Fischl a friend in their Visions.
Love the video. Raiden has a place in my heart since I can relate much to her attitude of seeking to escape the grasp of marching time and progress. Though a lot of people didn't like her story quest since it wasnt epic like venti or zhongli but more of a dating simulator, I appreciate the fact that the story focused on sending her back to reality and becoming more acquainted with the present Inazuma. At last, she has finally learned to give her divine gaze as Yae Miko suggested. What her people really needed from her was her warmth and support.
For my favorite, Rosaria. she was brought up by thieves who killed her family. She was given a new life by Varka. Out of gratitude, she protects Mondstat from the shadows. I hope they give her a hangout soon and give more lore. She's like that intimidating and irritating friend that's lowkey loving and kind.
My favorite character is razor , he may not have lots of words with us , but he is most loyal to you.

My favorite is Yoimiya. She's fun, lively, lives for her passion and takes care of everyone. Underrated story quest too. The best bit was seeing how silent she fell when it was finally time to see the fruits of her labor. As a creator who sees long term benefits and beauty of transient occurrences, she's kind of both a compliment and a foil to Ei's ideology.

My most best favorite character in the whole lore/game is Ei-chan definitely, not Raiden Shogun, but Ei-sama herself. Electro is my favorite element in the game regardless the weird inconsistent DMG; Inazuma weirdly is the saddest lore so far in the game--my masochist heart; and Raiden Ei is the freaking Archon... she's the freaking electro God with human nature (flaws everywhere) who also happens to make people sad and frustrated, but still lovable.
My second best fave is Ningguang.
My favorite character is Amber because even though she's nos super great at alot of things she tries her best at everything. She's not a god or an adeptus or any thing like that, she's human and she's making the most of it which makes her a very humble and down to earth character.
Honestly, Raiden is my favourite character. I love how badass yet cutely clueless she is

My favorite charecter is Aether, the first thing i saw him i already liked him, he's level 60 now and im ar46! He's really cute and his personality is really simple, i like his calm charisma also no matter how much people he helped, he never really snapped that much out of it.

Hu Tao, my main and favorite character. At first I didn't really like how she acted cheeky, that plus after trying her playstyle which consumes 30% hp/skill, I felt like she isn't one for me. I benched her for I think 3, 4 months? Only when the thought of having a 2nd main for abyss did I start to build her. I started to play her more and more till one day I realize I've fallen inlove with her. Her unique sprint, big PP dmg and even her voicelines I found cheeky in the past I think it's cute now. So Hu Tao for me
My faborite character is Hu Tao right now just because of how quirky and crazy she is, i plan to pull for her weapon when her rerun comes out!
It’s a hard choice but my favourite character is Noelle. The hangout events just made me fall in love with her. She’s so earnest and strong.
My other close picks would be Sucrose, Ganyu, or Venti

My favourite character is Zonghli, because he's wise, calm and has many many knowledge, even as he was a archon for thousands years, and a very powerful one. (Also his ultimate is cool !)
