One thing I like about this movie is how each character resembles the personality of a Beatle. Their positions on each instrument are switched but Jimmy is Lennon, Guy is McCartney, Lenny is Ringo and T.B. Player is George. Very clever whether it was intended that way or not.
@@Vixen743 They exaggerated the personalities. Paul wasn't as pure as Guy and John wasn't as mean as Jimmy. they were complicated people. And Jimmy did have a point, their original songs were better than the stuff the label wanted them to record. Imagine if the Beatles didn't insist on doing their own songs. Too bad the Wonders didn't have a George Martin who would let them record their own songs
Rumor has it that Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shacks Shooters are releasing a new album and appearing in another movie shooting this time in Fort Lauderdale during Spring Break! :)
I prep some 7th graders to play a talent show. They only knew one song so of course i told them if the audience wants an encore, “you run, run off the stage”.
Heckler: Hey, when are you guys going to play That Thing You Do? Lenny: Ah, has our fame preceded us? Heckler: We came here to meet girls and dance, and we can't meet girls until we dance! Lenny: All right, this seems like an opportune moment to pick it up a little. This one's for the kid in the back *after the shows* Hey, wasn't that our fan? Wait, what happened? Where was I? Oh yeah, playing songs on my guitar.
You Nailed it! From Skeech's sun glasses, to the little round pedestals the guitar players stand on, just like we used to do on all the TV shows in the 1960s! And... where are the mystery (hidden) guitar amplifiers? But... in this video.... NO amplifiers! UPDATE! Wait a minute! Not lip-synch. Robert pointed out the wireless guitar cables plugged in. Very clear on all guitars and bass. Clearly seen during the lead guitar solo at 2:00. Each plugged in, cable goes to hidden transmitter probably on their backs under the coats. And, they ALL have earpiece vocal monitors in their ears! So, receivers also strapped under their coats on their backs. You can even see one wire hanging out the lead singer's back at 2:10. But.... this is not authentic with 1964! I knew NO ONE who had wireless guitars and earpiece monitors in 1964! We had to have cords plugged into the guitar and they went to the amplifier. And... IF anyone was so modern to have /want feedback monitors, they were small speakers on the ground in front of you, usually along the front of the stage, facing backwards toward the players. These guys are great, but... too much modern high-tech electronic gear!
Thy are using wireless transmitters. You can see the antenna sticking out behind the Gibson 335. Also, the drums are miked. At the end the lead singer strikes the strings of his guitar and you can hear it clearly. The amps are probably just hidden out of sight. But I would like to have seen the amps.
Beatles appearing live on Ed Sullivan had "hidden" amplifiers -- and it was all absolutely live. First clue to a TV lip-sync are guitars not plugged in and/or absent microphones.
@@alaniglesias6624 As I recall the Beatles DID play live, but... their guitars had the usual cords plugged in... you could see the long cords running off stage to amplifiers that we did NOT see. Take a look at this video: ruclips.net/video/jenWdylTtzs/видео.html It clearly shows the guitar cords, plugged in, cords running off stage. Amps out of sight. But... they did NOT have wireless guitar transmitters strapped on their backs out of sight! No one did in 1964!
I love the look and song.
I AM SPARTACUS!!!
Oh I'm not here with these fellers. I got a pig in competition over at the livestock pavilion. And I am gonna win that blue ribbon.

As a TTYD Super fan (complete with tattoo), this is probably one of the best covers I heard! Well done!
REO brothers bring me here....they justify their cover with this song :) love this music
Agree, great cover. But what? No Emaj7 at the end??
"I am Spartacus !"
Just as long as the drummer 🥁 has the shades on I'm fine. Aloha from Honolulu, Hawaii 🤙
😎
Pitch perfect cover. You guys nailed this terrific song.
You are my biggest fan!
Great cover. Seen many of them. So far this is the best one!
Thank you!
Great job, guys! We're recording this and several others from that terrific soundtrack.
Thank you! Great soundtrack!

Love the REO Bros... Great Beatles covers, too!
Beautiful music I love it.
Wow you are best of best.
Beautiful Rickenbacker guitar.
🤪 LoL awesome one of my favorite movies, now all you need is to recreate the Captain Geech and Shrimp Shack Shooters scene...
Haha!
Awesome! The harmonies are spot on. One of the better covers I have heard. Love the suits also. Keep up the great work. Where do you fellas call home?
Great cover! Best I have had heard yet! Adding the suits really made it look great too. :)
Thank you!
That was awesome! In 2020 still.
I'm winning that pink ribbon
Take us there, skitch.
Very cool! Absolutely love it! Thank you!😊
You guys really nailed it the harmony is spot on. I really had to watch and think about it to make sure it wasn't the cast.
Thank you!

It was intended and Lennon if that is true as far as this goes Lennon was an asshole!!
Did the bass player really not have a name in the movie?
@@ebreaks Yes. In the end credits he is referred to as T B Player. His character's name is never mentioned in the film.
@Dyna TC88 Where did you get that from?

Thanks for showing the bass player !
🤣
"Careful girls....he's engaged"
Check out the Reo Brothers cover! Outstanding!
Brilliant......and groovy. 😎😎
nice job!
Sweet memories with lyrics
Nice Jack Casady Epiphone bass.
REO BROTHERS BROUGHT ME HERE!
What happened to the last chorus? Sounds like backing were singing the correct lyrics but the lead was repeating the first chorus' lines!
“What about only in my dreams? We only got one take?”
You can tell they were heavily influenced by Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters. . . :P

Greaat Performance! You Guys Really Brought the Movie to Life
Thank you!
FREKING AWESOME!
Which one of you is Spartacus ?
This is fantastic! Tell us about your band(s).......you guys sound great together!
Thank you!
I prep some 7th graders to play a talent show. They only knew one song so of course i told them if the audience wants an encore, “you run, run off the stage”.
Hi Thomas, Tell me more about this band. I am so curious to know more. I'm in the music biz in Northern California. You guys are remarkable.
This was just a one off deal for us. We don’t really get to play together that much.
Love the Rick😎
I love This! So much fun!
Thanks!

Jimmy: "That's too fast...the tempos too fast..." LOL
That was funny! I love that song and you nailed it!
Haha! Thank you! 😁

Hey, that's "On-Ed-ers".
Well done. ...but that last chord should be a maj7th
That drummer’s in the wrong band. flock of seagulls auditions are down the hall...
Actually, that drummer got skillz.
@@michaelb.5687 I think he means the haircut looks similar to the iconic flock of seagulls haircut
Oh C'mon now! Are you in a music band? Do you have hit record?
Great. Is this the original band that played the song in the film ?
No.
"Atta baby"
Pretty cool
Nice Ricken Backer

Guy that’s too fast. It’s a BALLAD!!!!
Just Saw the NSync version. Those Guys got nuthin' on you. Keep Rockin'
The irony hear is this is the tempo Jimmy would have wanted and it never would have been a hit. Guy set it all in motion. Nice job though fellas.
In the garage scene, they're playing at roughly 110bpm. The dudes here are going at about 130bpm.
Good job..👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you!
I'm very fond of you

Lovin this is 2021 ... Question is are you a cover band or was this just a project amongst friends ? It was great either way!

One of the fellas from Fountains of Wayne, I forget the name...
