they had him on the boat because waterways are under federal jurisdiction. He was not a sherrif on the boat.

Meh, either way they just needed to get him alone. They threatened him off the boat too and shot up his car.

Something most people miss is that one of the two guards of the prisoner who committed suicide was named Childresss. Great job guys. Now on to the thrilling finale!

Had there been no crime to solve, I'd still watch 8 episodes of these two detectives just chatting shit to each other. 2 of the best written characters I've seen in a long time

Just one thing: Maggie didn't help convince Marty, he already decided to work with Rust when he went to visit her.

I believe the first time we saw the man with the scarred face, he had a beard, and it was sunny.

I think he meant "nobody should have this" as in it shouldn't exist in this world, a tape of that nature

Marty did feel compelled to help Rust, I’m sure, out of him knowing Rust truly was onto something and truly was a genius at what he does. But Marty also owed him. A-lot. After how Rust helped him cover up what happened in the shootout in the woods. Not that it wasn’t what those individuals fully deserved and then some, but nonetheless. Don’t forget Marty did have a prior debt to Rust. Which any man worth anything would pay. So glad to see y’all are enjoying this absolute masterpiece. It’s truly lightning in a bottle that i will have to see be replicated to believe it can be done. And it has not yet. Rust is my favorite character to be written for tv or movies still to this date. Im from East Texas, not far from the Louisiana border. It was cool to hear them name drop places in Louisiana and actually know a lot of folks in those actual towns. Been with y’all for a long time now. Really enjoyed y’all’s thoughts and reaction to this one.

If you watch the scene where Rust is questioning the groundskeeper when he's cutting grass at the school, you'll notice Rust's wheels were turning. Marty honks the horn to get Rust back to the car, but Rust wasn't done with him.

There was a big but very brief clue In episode 3: Wen Rust goes to talk to the maintenance guy whos cutting grass outside the closed down school in Pelican Island , the camera pans over a sign that says "Closed until further notice, God is Working!". A pole obscures the sign for a second and the only readable text spell out "NOTICE KING".....

Love you guys, but one thing that homeboys wrong about is that that videotape would do nothing to rust or Marty, any jury, no matter how good the judge or how good lawyer is, would take one view of that videotape most likely throw up and that would be that
    A, win

One thing I really like is how everything about the case was mundane until Rust and Marty interviewed that lady who was a maid for the Tuttle family. Up until that point it was some awful pedo ring with some cult bullshit involved, and that was it, but the moment she goes into that trance and starts talking about "Carcosa" and how "death is not the end", shit just changes. Sure, it might still just be a pedo ring with a lot of influence, but you gotta ask yourself: if people go mad like that, if they get that affected, maybe there's something more to it. What if Carcosa, or whatever led them to dream about Carcosa, is real?

6:09 more so debt, like russ said. they closed the case early which let bad people continue doing bad things so they owe seeing it through to those victims and their own piece of mind
