The Discord Sudsers know that the bit I said at the end about Mr is a lie. Had to film this in advance for the sponsor to approve, and at that point it was true. 😅
Inventora looks handy dandy. I dont wanna think about how many/hours/days I spent setting up my excel s'sheet. 😮💨😮💨 Wow that lather thou!!!!! Videography work from your 8 yr old is "On Point" 👍👍👍 Great vid and yes your right, we shouldnt overlook using the cheaper oils.
You can also get lye for cheap at Ace hardware, Lowes etc, just read the ingredients carefully to make sure it's 100% sodium hydroxide. I adore canola oil, it's in my base recipe plus 1 of my specialty ones
@Soap & Clay Ace is my go to when I haven't been paying attention and need it while waiting for the next shipment to arrive lol. Obviously I need help monitoring my inventory 🤣
I used canola in a bar and a good friend who was using it said she not only loved it, but it was the best thing she'd used in forever for shaving her legs!
@@catchthis7563I'm not certain from a scientific standpoint unfortunately. However, using it personally it was just a little silkier than some of my bars without it, and my skin felt a little smoother after using it.
I would definitely switch from olive oil to canola oil if I could find a high oleic canola oil, but all I can find is mid oleic canola oil. I did try a recipe where I replaced all of the olive oil with canola oil and the lather is weak.
I always learn SO much when I watch your videos! Never heard of Inventora before. I make soap just as a hobby. Haven't thought much of what the bar ends up costing. But this sounds interesting for sure.
Nature's garden and wsp are so quick for me. It's brambleberry that I hate. Takes literally 3-4 weeks. But I use canola all the time. It's great. Luckily my customers aren't oil snobs
I shop most of my soaping oils in the grocery store and not from special suppliers. Our normal grocery stores dont have big buckets of oils, 2l are mostly the biggest. But turkish stores carries 5l buckets of olive oil, sunflower ect. The drain cleaners that you can buy at hardware stores have Additives and are not usable for soap but you can get pure lye at the pharmacy. I only get DOS because of our invironment. Germany is cold and dry during winter but hot and very humid during summer.
I love canola oil specially for my shampoo bars. Regarding coconut oil Big Lots has the best price and is my to go always. They also offer a 20% discount via email. LOVE your soap!
I love this video! Thank you. I don’t get how you reached your cost for fragrance though. Even buying a large amount I don’t come near your calculation of .16666 per ounce. I went to the same company website and found the same fragrance.
Knowing spreadsheets doesn’t make you a nerd. 😂 but with my spreadsheets I have to input my values AND THEN do data entry. This saves so much time for me!
I’ve used all kinds of oils and the only one that gave me DOS was when I used 10% chia oil…it was great for the face but… and thank you for doing a thing with the software
Hello.I like to work cheap because I am poor. So thanks for the video. How long did you let your soap cure? Also, did you run your recipe through a lye calculator with the fragrance or without?
I personally would blow out the Crisco Ingredients and include all of them on my label. I know other soapmakers prefer to not list ingredients at all on their labels or just list vegetable shortening.
Thank you I was looking for a better inventory app. I have been looking to also sub olive oil with canola oil or at the very least half and half. Olive oil is getting super expensive. I laughed out loud when the blender stick came apart. My life every time I make a batch I am like what the what?
Check out Inventora - you'll thank me later.

Our ace hardware doesn’t stock lye. It’s weird.

Some Walmart’s carry 100% lye for ~6/lb ace hardware too for around 8 I believe

I thought a mouth immediately. 😂
I definitely saw red lips on the first soap you showed! Not a disaster. 💋
I think it depends a little on where you live because NG is in a neighboring state to me… I received my order 2 days after I ordered.
How would you label crisco and canola if you sold them?
I personally would blow out the Crisco Ingredients and include all of them on my label. I know other soapmakers prefer to not list ingredients at all on their labels or just list vegetable shortening.

Fred Meyer’s DIDN’T have lye?? Dang. That place has EVERYTHING!
I wonder if it can be found in the drain cleaner section.
No lye, no lie!
Why didnt u get the lye from the grocery store?
Not available!
What is Crisco? We don't have it in Israel.
Hey. Sup. First, or whatever.
