Younster to Master Pro, Dave you have always been the MASTER of B. Dylan's "All Along the Watch Tower". Again, saw you during a bad time in 1986 or 1987 but you were OUTSTANDING" in your performanceb in KC.at a small venue. YOUR FAN was there to uphold your spirit and pride for a Rock and Roll Hall Of Famer before they knew you had it in you. May all the best come your way Mr. Mason. A HUGE Fan of yours.
Dave Mason played 12 string acoustic guitar on Jimi Hendrix' 1969 version of All Along The Watchtower, which became a Top 20 single in 1968, and was ranked 48th in Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time
saw dave at the biloxi hard rock and it was more than expected. this guy and his band are amazing and it was more than worth the ticket price, actually feel like i cheated him for the performance i would pay double to see him again, if you haven't seen his live show you are missing out on a great talent. hats off to him and his band.
@brokeEstring Hey Now ! ! ! ! You just sparked me to download some old Frank Marino as well. As much as I dislike mp3's I did find the FR&MR discography....14 albums. I've been listening to them ever since. Thanks to you for posting and reminding me of an old favorite! Cheers!
@KelownaDirt Hey now......Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush. ....great performer. Hendrix first heard the song "All Along the Watchtower", by Bob Dylan, at a party he was invited to by Mason, and promptly decided to record his own version. That night he recorded the song at Olympic Studios, South West London, with Mason playing acoustic guitar. It was released on the Electric Ladyland album in Sept 1968 I recently told my youner kids that they WILL know the song AATWT! Cheers
@happygleason Bass-Gerald Johnson, Guitar&Vocals-Johnne Sambataro, Keys&Organ&Vocals-Anthony (Tony) Patler, Drums-Alvino Bennett. Go to Dave's website for their bios.
That is right and he was having a hard time doing it and Hendrix was getting real pissed at him. I guess he has had plenty of time to get it down by now.
gerald johnson (bass player) doesn't play the bass, he uses it as an extension of his body . . . oh, ya, then there's his facial expressions . . . too bad his playing doesn't come through in the recording (excellent performance by all, though) . . . he's some badass musician

He was one of the 10 best rock guitarists 40 years ago and has improved. His voice amazingly is almost as good as ever.

Dave Mason still has it. I've always thought his version of this song was the best ever recorded. And that includes numerous legendary rock artists.
Bass player cracked me up, awesome.
