I saw Blackberry Smoke live and was blown away. I describe them as one of the most "professional" sounding bands I've ever heard.

Charlie is a very humble and cool cat. I just loved them from the first time I heard them...rock/blues/country/soul all mixed together....thats my thing for sure!!!!!

I could not agree more that simplicity is huge with writing music. If you play, you've most likely played tons of covers, and what do you notice?... well, what I notice is that acoustic / unplugged versions of even the most highly produced songs are just simple, but effective chord progressions. Some of my most favorite songs are just F, G,C songs, or A,D,G songs, etc... They say country songs are "3 chords and the truth." Totally true! And, I'd say blues, folk, and rock could say the same sentiment. Nothing at all wrong with simple. Love it!

@MichaelPalmisano You produce EASILY the most thoughtful and entertaining guitar content on RUclips. I'm not a musician, but music is a constant throughout my daily life and your videos have deepened my appreciation for the talents of some of my favorite player, such as Derek Trucks, Marcus King, Charlie Starr, Warren Haynes, etc. Your genuine enthusiasm and passion for the music you analyze is awesome and sets you apart. Keep doing the rock gods' work my friend. Who knows, if I watch enough of your videos I may just have to finally pick up a guitar myself...

I would love it if you would do something by The Avett Brothers. Probably start with Murder in the City.

If you haven't reacted to The Steel Woods yet, you should! I'd recommend maybe "Rock That Says My Name" or their cover of "Whipping Post", but anything really! Their guitar player Jason "Rowdy" Cope just passed away. He used to play Jamey Johnson. They are SOOOO good!

Love the videos. You offer great perspective on how bands tie music together to make a group effort and it is very interesting and taught me a lot about guitar. I love that you show several independent artists (I’m from Texas so it’s all I listen to). However I would recommend looking into Whiskey Myers. They are an East Texas Rock and roll band and being from the area, I can say they make some of the most honest music you can find. They have several live songs on RUclips, not sure which you could choose from legally but “dogwood” epitomizes our area well

What Does "Rode Hard and Put Away Wet" Mean?
The expression "rode hard and put away wet" refers to a person who looks worn out or unwell. "Ridden hard and put up wet" is another variation on the same phrase. The expression originates from the southern and western United States. The first use of the term is uncertain; it was already in relatively widespread use by the mid-20th century.
The phrase itself is derived from horseback riding. When a horse is forced to run quickly, it works up a sweat. Before being put back into the stable, it should be allowed to cool down by walking the last part of its journey. Even after arrival, it may need to be allowed to walk a bit more to cool down. The rider should remove saddles and other tack and give the horse a small amount of water. Once the horse is somewhat rested, the rider or groom rubs the horse down before returning it to the stable.
Horses that do not receive this treatment can suffer from a number of complaints. Chills and muscle stiffness can result from being left damp. Horses also frequently become bad-tempered and resentful if left untended.
By analogy, then, a person who is "rode hard and put away wet" seems ill-conditioned, tired out and unhappy, much like a horse that has undergone the same treatment. The expression also has a secondary meaning implying that the person has been neglected or mistreated. The phrase can be used to refer to a single instance of this appearance in the case of a person who has had a tiring and difficult experience. It can also refer to a person who habitually appears weary and disheveled, such as an insomniac. In some cases, it can even be a compliment, describing someone whose rugged appearance testifies to his or her toughness and endurance.
The phrase "rode hard and put away wet" is common in popular culture. Country and western singer and comedian Tennessee Ernie Ford used it as a catch phrase in the 1950s and pop-punk band Diesel Boy used the phrase as an album title in 2001. Actors June Raphael and Casey Wilson named their two-woman comedy show "Rode Hard and Put Away Wet." Due to the popularity of some other euphemisms involving riding, some people incorrectly assume that the phrase has a sexual connotation. As a result, it also appeared as the title of an adult film in 1998.
