By the way, would you recomend some of those tunings for casual playing ?
haha Piccolo strings can definitely be fun. I've found them very useful for busking. Check out my buddy, Zander Zon, for more piccolo tunings. Using guitar strings can be problematic (too short, ball ends too small).

This is nuts. I accidentally killed the stock strings on my 5 string Jackson just by trying to tune to Eb Ab Db Gb B so I could play Kind and Flaneur by Plini. Also, this Jackson is my first bass, you inspired me to start learning to play!
That tuning doesn't look right... Please tell me you didn't try tuning your B string up to an Eb?
You gotta get a pack for 6 string bass and use the 5 highest strings

Kryten FiveTwoThreeP the tuning is normal EADG plus a high C, then down a half step. Yes I did try it, and that is why my strings sounded dead until I changed them. I stopped short of going all the way that high cuz I got really nervous, and then decided to shelve that song for now.
@@rcjd7834 Cool, I've got a 5-string with a high-C myself, a Cort Action DLX V. I managed to find a 5-string set with a high-C sold by Warwick. Haha that's crazy trying to tune it like that, but we all make mistakes when we're new. I snapped a string the other day by not paying attention to what I was doing and turning the wrong tuning peg, and I've been playing for 6 years lol
This is the first time I saw a bass string break. Judging by the reaction of the bassist, it was his first time seeing a bass string break.

When listening to C9 standard tuning, I actually can still hear the tune. Just really a faded tune. I don't know if it is the pitched background audio or the bass. Edit: Tried it on my laptop, C11 tuning is really faded and didn't able to hear some notes but I can still hear the tuning. Still don't know if it is the pitched background audio or the bass.
I believe it's just a sub-octave. I don't remember if a sub-octave is in overtone series, but especially on bass, it is there.

I think it might be your brain filling in the melody, while Nathan already provides the placement of the notes as he plays, so we likely unconsciously fill in the blanks, as brains tend to do. I also kind of feel like i hear it, but i kind of don't. It'd be easy to test it, see if people recognize a melody that was played a moment ago like this, vs starting a new melody right away at this pitch.
@@Dice-Z maybe, but if it is my brain keep looping those melody, how Nathan can't hear the melody since he is the one playing the bass? If he can't hear it, that means we also can't hears it. It is because all the melody was from the speaker and Nathan should able to hear the melody but instead he only heard the bass string acoustically. Besides, I heard those notes from my laptop speaker, not hears it magically.

You're probably just hearing artifacts that happen to be in human hearing range. Or maybe you are actually an animal. Hard to tell over the Internet.
40,000 Hertz is the top note in that range. I can still hear most of the "lower" notes to some extent but the higher ones are pretty much lost on me.
Your speakers/headphone need to support that frequency in the first place.

sounds like you start running into aliasing artifacts at and above C7 or so. try increasing your sample rate
