Issssssss marveous. Love this musical. I use this audio for my next cover. Thank you very much😊😊
Everyone who is saying these lyrics are incorrect ACTUALLY they are correct! These lyrics are not from the movie they are from the west side musical Broadway show. So yes they are correct.
The problem is not the movie versus the musical, it's transliteration errors. For example, it's not "distant through all the OPALS"-- that makes no sense-- but "distant through all the APPLAUSE". (I apologize for the shouty capitals, I would underline if I could)
Actually I have seen both and in the west end its meg that sings the first part until Christine sings my father once spoke of an angle but then you have right about that it's the right lyrics. And in fact this song is a mashup of the songs mirrors and phantom of the opera. I'm kinda a nerd with musicals so I just have to tell the truth.
"distant through all the opals" ? "let the words all tunes" ? come one buddy, you can do better. its "distant through all the applause" and "yet the words aren't yours"

The first one who sings is Meg, is applause, yet those words aren't yours, and who is this great tutor. Oh and btw: they don't have a key change each time Christine sings. I will be on Broadway performing this once is graduate from college.
I have actually seen the movie AND the broadway production live in three different places through out the world including the Vegas Spectacular version. I have NEVER seen this version performed on any of the three stages I've seen it on nor was it in the movie. I own a dvd copy of the 25th anniversary edition in Royal Albert Hall, which I have yet to watch. I have not seen Westend's versions but obviously they have taken some liberties of their own and changed the original Andrew Lloyd Webber lyrics. it could be because of prop/set/costume changes etc or any manner of technical details that they change the lyrics to make the scene work. There is actually also an alternate version o the Phantom of the Opera Theme song as well, which I've never seen performed but does exist. There is nothing wrong with creative license, and while I still sing the original lyrics that are exchanged between Meg and Christine with this kareoke version (and prefer it) there is nothing wrong with posting or sharing alternate versions as music does change and adapt all the time. I.E. Some Pop songs are constantly being gender swapped (so lyrics change), some are re-stylized with new bridges or lyrics added to give it a personal touch. So To say this is WRONG, is wrong in and of itself. It just may not be the version the majority of us are used to.
Lots of the lyrics were changed like "opals" instead of "Applause." And "let the words all tunes" instead of "yet the words aren't yours." It's much closer to the lyrics heard in the 25th anniversary, those of which I just listed. The movie says "Christine you must have been dreaming..." And so on which are the very original lyrics but over the past 29 years it's been changed a few times.
What I meant by lyric changes at the beginning of that last comment were the changes that this track uses because of copyright and creative license, but the musical has seen many lyric changes as well
+Katie Tucker Personally I think applause makes more sense than opals and the words aren't yours makes more sense than let the world all tunes. But yes, copyright, artistic lisence etc. makes sense. Change can be nice sometimes though if you've heard/ seem the songs/show several times it adds something new to the recording/performance so that it's not just the same old thing again. Everyone will always have their own preferences to which versions they like best though and there's nothing wrong with that.
To the author... have you ever seen the musical, film, or even listened to the song once? This song is a duet between Christine and Meg. You have attributed all vocals to "Christine" and this is inaccurate. There is a section when their vocals overlap singing different words - if you'd heard the song even once, you'd know it's not possible for one person to sing two parts at the same exact time. Also the second part which is actually sung by Meg, your lyrics are incorrect: The verse is: "I watched your face from the shadows Distant through all the applause I hear your voice in the darkness And the words weren't yours." Not that I'm not happy for the karaoke song - I just suggest you do more accurate research next time you decide to post a karaoke song and include the lyrics. It is pretty useless to put up the lyrics if you don't know who sings them or even what they are actually singing!!
Diane Shepherd.. Aye the names are probably wrong, but I just upload the videos, I don’t make them. However it’s been up for six years so I doubt many truly care..
You may want to recheck the lyrics, or at the very least pick up an easy piano book the worst of the mistakes on this is: "I hear your voice in the darkness, distant through all the opals, I hear your voice in the darkness , let the words all tunes." when in actuality it should be "I watched your face from the shadows, distant through all the applause, I hear your voice in the darkness, yet the words aren't yours' makes much better sense doesn't it
the verse that starts this song is sung by Meg not Christine
You are so right. The karaoke completely ruins the song.
Apparently
Yeah it's not even the right key it's weird
That and the lyrics are totally wrong. I sing this as a Phantom of the Opera Medley with my high school Concert Choir from London Ontario Canada back in 96 and 97. I was the solist so I know these lyrics like this back if my hand.
The first part is sung by Meg
Yea I was confused too
It's official, by the end of my life I want to have played either Meg or Christine. If it's in an amateur production or professional I don't care, I JUST WANT TO DO IT.

YES SAME SAME
@Total Emma I have a question for you, I know your comment is 7yrs old, but I wanted to know how it went. This is legitimately, the strangest version I've heard, and seen lyrics to.
Meg sings the first verse. this is when Christine has finished her performance at the beginning of the show and Meg went to visit her best friend after the show to congratulate her whilst being curious about her singing teacher 😊
Christine does not say where in the world have you been hiding
meg says it
It doesn't tell you the part, it's just in the musical before Meg starts singing she says "Christine..." and then begins the singing.
tolkienbliss Its obviously Meg
s voice, plus in the play it is meg. You can see it clearly.
Gothamknight18 That's what I meant. That it's Meg from the very beginning and saying "Christine..." is just a part of her line.
OH! Oops, my bad.. That makes sense
Gothamknight18 That's okay :)
I laughed so hard at the part "insolent boy, this slave of fashion" hahaha
this is so good because it tested my knowledge of the actual words :))))) lol I was trying not to giggle whilst singing.
Distant through all the opals?
+Maddie Jones It's a random typo. It's supposed to say applause.
+Sunburst Draconequus oque home
"Let the words all tunes"????
Yes as far away from the opals as possible. Lok

Where in the world
Have you been hiding?
Really - you were perfect
I only wish
I knew your secret
Who is this new
Tutor?
Father once spoke of an angel
I used to dream he'd appear
Now as I sing I can sense him
And I know he's here
Here in this room he calls me softly
Somewhere inside, hiding
Somehow I know he's always with me
He, the unseen genius
Christine, Christine you must have been dreaming
Stories like this can't come true
Christine, you're talking in riddles
And it's not like you
Angel of music, guide and guardian
Grant to me your glory
Who is this angel?
This
Angel of music, hide no longer
Secret and strange angel
He's with me even now
Your hands are cold
All around me
Your face, Christine, it's white
It frightens me
Don't be frightened
THANK YOU
That’s the lyrics from the movie. The Broadway version of Meg’s dialogue says

Casie Girvin Yep. Probably listen and type
This is the best
These lyrics are actually correct. They're going by the current West End/Broadway lyrics instead of the 2004 movie and the OLC soundtrack
Is it weird that this is easier to me than pop music? Like I’m not good with pop music but these songs I can do

Great tutor* I can’t see who Christine would have had as a vocal teacher before Erik 🥶 they sing new tutor in the 25th and great tutor in the 2004 movie
that from the movie, this is the play version so dont start correcting people
It's "distant through all the Applause" not " distant through all the opals" lol

Christine
No te alarmes
2 versions Movie and Broadway. Either one im fine with.
Some of the verses aren't even sung by Christine
I totally agree with you. The song is a total mess in this karaoke.
Does anyone else get the feeling that Andrew was listening to "Memory" from "Cats" when he composed this song?
The first one who sings is Meg, is applause, yet those words aren't yours, and who is this great tutor. Oh and btw: they don't have a key change each time Christine sings. I will be on Broadway performing this once is graduate from college.
You should make it where the phantom is singing on his part and the only part to sing is Christines part
Why do you have Christine singing Megs part... ( LOL)
Dreamcather by Secret Garden sounds somewhat similar to this
1:43 "But the words aren't yours"*
it starts with meg not cristine
you got them wrong
Good grief those lyrics! Were u listening to the song underwater?
I promise I didn’t!
@JokinglySerious are you gonna fix em
This had to have been made by AI, a real person couldn’t possible mess up this bad 🤦🏼♀️
@@casperthefreckledghost This video was uploaded ELEVEN years ago - very sure AI was not a thing back then lol
It's in 25th anniversary and you should watch it! It's fabulous! And these are just typos
@Chronia these are terrible typos
are we gonna alk about how this is two different songs mixed into one made up song from phantom
Wait a second, the first part is sung by Meg, not Christine😡. The rest is O.K..
umm can u do one that is not the broadway one plese and that not all the words i hope u know
That's what I thought, too X)
1:42 There’s a wrong lyrics:
It’s “Yet the words aren’t yours”, not “Let the words all tunes”.
it's meg at the beginning not christine
sing it with the typos
Abc if u can also type and sing
Sorry to any neighbours
Distant from all the applause, not opals.
*yet the words aren't yours!
For Lucero Amado del Alba Pacheco
To the author... have you ever seen the musical, film, or even listened to the song once?
This song is a duet between Christine and Meg. You have attributed all vocals to "Christine" and this is inaccurate. There is a section when their vocals overlap singing different words - if you'd heard the song even once, you'd know it's not possible for one person to sing two parts at the same exact time.
Also the second part which is actually sung by Meg, your lyrics are incorrect:
The verse is:
"I watched your face from the shadows
Distant through all the applause
I hear your voice in the darkness
And the words weren't yours."
Not that I'm not happy for the karaoke song - I just suggest you do more accurate research next time you decide to post a karaoke song and include the lyrics. It is pretty useless to put up the lyrics if you don't know who sings them or even what they are actually singing!!
dmf1301
it's the Broadway version, not the movie version. get your head out of your ass
@@lexybauder the broadway version doesn't have word errors like the words all tunes.
The first part is Meg not Christine
You need to change the beginning it is not Christine but Meg singing
I KNOW! For the last time! Lol
the first part is meg not christine
Try to read the rest of the comments before talking, I know it already, and you don't have to tell me what to do -_-
I see :D
Is Met a mezzo soprano?
some of the lyrics are wrong :/
I KNOW lol
this is wrong
ricardo milos
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Your lyrics are all wrong. Please fix!
This video should be taken off RUclips. It is totally misleading and incorrect.
Diane Shepherd.. Aye the names are probably wrong, but I just upload the videos, I don’t make them. However it’s been up for six years so I doubt many truly care..
@@JokinglySerious Perhaps you're right in your thinking, but people who enjoy singing, and know (certain) songs well, DO care.
Scratch what I said earlier this is just a terrible version!
this is whack
You may want to recheck the lyrics, or at the very least pick up an easy piano book
the worst of the mistakes on this is:
"I hear your voice in the darkness, distant through all the opals, I hear your voice in the darkness , let the words all tunes."
when in actuality it should be
"I watched your face from the shadows, distant through all the applause, I hear your voice in the darkness, yet the words aren't yours'
makes much better sense doesn't it
