They fit together so well it gives me goose bumps. I imagine voices like thick lines. Christine's voice has blurry edges but a strong center that rings high and flutters, nice for love songs and slightly sappy ballads. One of the few improvements they did in the film versus the stage musical is the "Phantom whisper"effect when he sings in the mirror. Apparently, they had Gérard sing the song" I am your angel of music come to me angel of music" in his normal voice the first time around, and the second time they recorded him, they had him "whisper" the song which they placed below the first take. Add that in the original, they had a synth drum playing leading up to the main title song, whereas in the film I like the fact that they used a soft organ; it added to his mysteriousness, not only as a person, but as how a Phantom would act.
While I agree that Gerard was totally awesome in this scene, I think I have to congratulate Emmy. I think the fear and reluctance to actually look in the mirror and then her entranced expression were extraordinary!

Notice that on the line "See why in shadow I hide", Christine looks to the bottom right (from her perspective) which is where a large rose bush is (don't know what it's doing there but anyway). That bush would be probably casting a lot of shade, so after hearing that line, Christine would most likely have looked there, expecting to see a trapdoor or something. This makes the following lines "Look at your face in the mirror, I am there inside" sound more like a correction, like "No, you're looking the wrong way. The mirror is where to look."
Emmy sings so beautiful and is beautiful! She is one of my favorite Christines and she has the right appearance and voice for the character! Great job Emmy!

Sharing in my triumph.
CHRISTINE
Angel I hear you, speak I listen
Stay by my side, guide me.
Angel my soul was weak, forgive me.
Enter at last, master.
PHANTOM
Flattering child you shall know me
See why in shadow I hide.
Look at your face in the mirror
I am there inside!
CHRISTINE
Angel of music, guide and guardian
Bring to me your glory.
Angel of music, hide no longer
Come to me strange angel.
PHANTOM
I am your angel of music, come to me angel of music.
I am your angel of music, come to me angel of
It says "Grant yo me your glory" ☺
Thank you
When he sings I am your angel of music come to your angel of music. It’s like a sirens song and she can’t break hold it’s incredibly done
This is one of my favorite scenes and this week my theatre class watched the movie and I enjoyed every part of it.
My favourite scene, both on stage and on film. ❤
Their voices will forever give me chills
This movie is the reason why I love Phantom of the Opera. I would have loved to see this on Broadway. 💔
Bravo Gerard Butler 👏
Notice that on the line "See why in shadow I hide", Christine looks to the bottom right (from her perspective) which is where a large rose bush is (don't know what it's doing there but anyway). That bush would be probably casting a lot of shade, so after hearing that line, Christine would most likely have looked there, expecting to see a trapdoor or something. This makes the following lines "Look at your face in the mirror, I am there inside" sound more like a correction, like "No, you're looking the wrong way. The mirror is where to look."
Really I like a lot his voice
Emmy sings so beautiful and is beautiful! She is one of my favorite Christines and she has the right appearance and voice for the character! Great job Emmy!
the most beutiful musical ever!
My gosh! The part that he says "I am your angel of music.. come to the angel of music.." x2
If I was christene I would be totally hypnotyzed!!!!!!! I would not hear ANYTHING! This is a so SO beautiful voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And the "flattering child you shall know me.. see why in the shadows I hide.. Look at your face in the mirror.. I am theereee iiiinsssiiiiideee!!!!!!!"
Ooooooo I can't get it off my mind! His songs stuck to you very easily! Also the music of the night of course the phantom of the opera! I can't take it! I am suffering from amazingness~!!!!!!!
I know some people give Gerard Butler crap about his portrayal of the Phantom, but honestly, I think he did a pretty damn good job. Is he a good singer? Maybe not, but this IS based on the musical, so you can't really blame a guy like him for at least trying. And y'know, the Phantom Reviewer said it best: "His voice has a rough, rocky edge to it that makes his Phantom come across as a real badass."
Me too always liked this song and that part! This is me and my mom's fav movie since I was 10 🍿❤️
