Thanks for this. I worked in Dublin (on leaving Cork) from 1977 to 1987, and was a member of Crusaders AC in Ballsbridge. A casual 90 - 100 miles a week social runner. Funny how I don't remember a Dublin marathon. The Boston marathon was a thing better runners were in to at the time. Some took part. I guess this came a little early in my 10 year running period; although I would cycle from near the Guinness brewery to the club, as I remember where I worked during the 1st Borg McEnroe match and Eamonn Coghlan's 4th place. (Irish Pharmaceuticals Ltd. long gone) I've been in london since 87, though neither city is a good place to live now I think. Life and age can make the mind weird.
The 80s were the worst year's in Ireland. The Dublin marathon lifted us up a bit from the gray gloom hanging over the country. From two to twenty two thousand. Since the first in 1980. Wow.
I agree, the marathon gave people an opportunity to keep active, it was cheap and a good form of exercise and still going strong, which is terrific to see 👍
@@feilimlawless1392 no problem at all and thanks again for the great coverage, i really enjoyed it, if you come across any more coverage on DCM you might pass it on, thanks again
