Thanks, now the going rate is 700-1000 USD.
yeah... kind of annoying.
You predicted correctly!! Fuck...
Yeah, and that's in US dollars. For some of us we are looking at $1200 and up..
Interestingly - I got a Pentax 645 with 80 -160 zoom for about $360 USD
And it stays there because the sellers fix the prices
You just single handedly raised the the value of this camera...
that's probably true :D
Yup 😩 it’s pretty much double the price on eBay now
It's now $800 CAD where I am now haha
Nope, the sellers did!
1400 on ebay 😩
Someone already said but yikes... the prices on these more than doubled 😢
Best film camera review I have seen. I had the GA645W and sold it. You made me want to get the 60mm version again. Keep up the great channel.
Thanks! 🙏 Appreciate you watching and commenting. The Fuji is such a great cam. I don’t think you’ll regret purchasing it again!
Now it's a $1000+
Offffttt these have gone up in price since this video came out. Cheapest I can find is about £600. Some over £1000
Watches video in 2023 and laughing at $300usd price…😂
Just bought one for 750 euro 😅
Had a mint one and sold it. Didn't realize they were getting so expensive, they use to sell for around 300 in great condition.
Very sharp lens but we never really bonded. I do miss it's size though !
Jeremy Parr I had one given to me by my best friend sadly he past on but I am very grateful I still have it thank you for showing this video yours Jer😁👍
Back around 1995 when that camera was new I was shooting a Yashica TLR. I met a guy on the street that had the Fuji, I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.
Have just brought one of these with a fault for £200 where a working version is between £800-£1000 in the UK now, absolute madness, now to see if I can get that fault fixed...
The Fuji Film Cameras are absolutely the most wonderful clear lenses around. My GS645S lens might have a sharpness edge over my Hasselblad. $300 !! that's a great price. wow.
Hello! I was wondering if you ever tried the Fuji GW690 aka Texas Leica? Because I absolutely love the huge film/lens combo. Thanks for your videos, especially on your outstanding documentaries!
Prices now are crazy smh.
The price of this camera is already starting to rise... I sense a cult following oncoming in the near future for sure, get your hands on one now if you haven't lol
Yep, it's already started. Great camera.
6-700 for a minty one now.
you are the Elon Musk of photography, you fuck the prices up. :))
I have watched this video so many times. Love it.
Oh man, it sells for 700-1000usd now!
classic
I shot with this camera for 15 years and loved hearing the sound of the camera again, thanks for making a great video. The best point-and-shoot ever for all the reasons you state. I’d add a couple of things, if you like to mix flash with available light for portraits the little camera flash is amazing and the camera always seems to get the mix just right. I actually think the angle of view is closer to 40mm. I’ve really tried to make a digital set up work in a similar way but there’s something about the ease of using this camera, along with the beautiful results that for me makes it unique. I think it’s time to dust mine off again!
Mark, having used this camera for 15 years as you say, would you advice me to buy one? I can get a good deal on eBay privately with a seller for 400 GBP but am worried about the shutter count ( 10,600 shots ) the rest seems to be all in good conditions. Thanks.
$350 lol - the appreciation is crazy
Now $1300
I had and loved a GA645, took it on a road trip around California and Arizona, it was so good as I could carry and fly from the UK that and an SLR (also film as it was pre digital) easily in a single carry on bag. The quality was astounding and as you mentioned, every exposure was spot on shooting transparency. I really wish Id kept it but stupidly got rid of all my medium format kit when clients demanded digital for everything.
I have owned two of these (still have and use one) and love, love love it for all the reasons you stated. I also want to congratulate you on the stellar production values of the video (and audio) of this review and clocking in at over 5 minutes is usually taboo for user's attention but you had me wanting to watch all the way through. Amazing images, video and info!
Darwin, thanks for that! Really appreciate it, and glad you enjoyed the vid. Also, awesome to hear that you’re a GA645 owner. Such a cool camera, and always a treat to use. Good to hear from you!
Well, I'm sold, lets start eBay hunting!. Great video Kyle, I look forward to seeing more!
Thanks Karl! Happy hunting! 🙌
see? now I can't afford it anymore. Thanks Kyle. jkjk your vids are very clean and informative. so well done.
Checking in from 2021 and godDAMN this camera now costs upwards of over $1000 USD. Wish it were still around $300.
Yep, like most film camera, prices have risen.
Kyle, you're so so so good at explaining and sharing information. Not even to mention how beautiful your short films look!!! Coming from your Skillshare class to your YT channel and staying for good! :)
Thanks so much for the comment Sarah! Really appreciate it. Glad that you enjoyed the course!
I have the Fuji 645zi Pro, , the GS645S Pro.... both awesome.....Fuji Med Format cameras are almost all very good.
My god, these sell for minimum 1500 euros now in Europe. Yikes
Yep, things have changed for sure.
very annoying camera. also annoying is the hype all the youtube posers generate.
if you want a good and quick 6x4,5 get a bronica rf645. they're hyped too but it's reliable camera at least.
This camera takes 120 film?
Yes
Bro where is that photo location that you show in your work... where on earth do you live???
Fast forward 4 years to 2022. Almost all of these on eBay going for over $1,000 US. From Japan.
I have ga645 and Pentax 67 too. However I still prefer to carry ga645 around. 67 gives a lot of more details than 645. And ga645 only gives view angle which is equivalent to 35mm on 135. Aperture of 4 is really not much usable at low light for slides film. Ga645 is good for traveling, although I might consider to bring along another film klasse as backup.
Since yesterday I am a happy user of such a camera. I have never dealt with this type of camera. When watching your film, the negative was not exposed? You put it on in the daylight. can you do that?
i love your video. this is a camera i was always interested in! good to have more information
if ever you want to check out my channel, i shoot film as well :)
Doesn't it sucks shooting in landscape orientation holding the camera vertical? It is like at half frame 35mm cameras.
I'm so confused. Fuji has a lot of GA645 cameras in the market
Great review, but you've probably just driven up the price of the GA645. lol
Glad you enjoyed.
“This camera is pretty loud” … *glances at EOS 3* 😧
price have gone wild in the past 6 yrs this camera is 800 to over 1200 usd in 2024
Ok two years later & this camera is 3X that price. You still shooting it? I had one for a week. It stopped focusing (looked jarred) so I sent it back to KEH.
I’m not still shooting it. I sold it a while ago and picked up a Pentax 645n. Just love the SLR.
Own it. Love it. Will never sell it. I also own the a 6x7 which I also will never sell.
To buy this today for $350 haha
😅
boy if only you could get it for $350 now
Haha, yeah, no kidding.
I have this camera too and totally love it, the lens quality gives you amazing details in the negatives.
Agreed! Great camera!
Gunner Stahl ???
Vlonepape now everyone be selling their contax t2’s 😂
Jakob Gracia for sure😂😂😂
Vlonepape definitely why I’m here 😭🚫🧢
Gunner who?
Ptah Hotep famous photographer in the rap industry Gunner Stahl
I'am from India and there is no way that I could get my hands on any beginner film camera.
I want to add a medium format film camera but I find most of them are too big and heavy.
Such a good video with such good information!! Crazy that you don’t have more subscribers. But you just gained a new one!!
Thanks for watching, and subscribing!
you could've mentioned the awesome fact that they also have a built in flash
For sure, people seem to love the flash. I've actually never used it though.
would love to see a review and comparison with the very rare Bronica RF645.
Hey, Everyone come and look at this.
How to make good Camera videos 101 right here!
Any large format point and shoot recommendations?
Do you still use this camera?
Nope. Not anymore.
Great Video. Recently baught one from Japan (Because of this Video :-).
Can you help me with one thing: Can you change the ISO after loading the film once and Setting the ISO once at the beginning? Thanks a Lot!
Yes you can.
Your sample pictures are so good. You make me want to buy one!! Thanks
Thanks!
I’m looking to buy a new point and shoot and am trying to decide between this and the Contax T2. I know they are completely different but if you had to go with one simply as a point and shoot easy to use camera which would you choose?
All depends if you want 35mm or medium format. For me personally, for the type of work that I do, I'd go with the Fuji. But I don't really shoot much 35mm.
Should I get this or the Pentax 645n
Did you sell it?
Yes
It feels kinda primitive to me-but then I’m used to DSLRs. The focus motor and rangefinder are especially laughable. I’d much rather get a proper SLR, which can do things my little digital camera can’t (like showing what’s in focus through the viewfinder!)
I am looking to make a choice between this Fuji GA645 and the Bronica RF645. The Bronica seems to be better because of interchangeable lenses. Nice review! thanks
I hate cameras that need batteries.
I use a Rolleicord Va and a Moskva 5 6x9 /6x6 rangefinder camera.
I meter with a Hanimex Sekonic no battery meter which is very accurate.
Awww dammit! I promised myself no new cameras!!
feel you man
I’m sure that’s a great camera but I’m a Hasselblad guy used them for years made a ton of money and I traveled around the world with them if you’re going to shoot film I recommend one it will make a photographer out of you, nice video!
*Gunner stahl type beat*
What is the so called crop factor of fuji camera? Around O.7? Is the lens maximum aperture enough to get nice pics with blurred background?
If I bought this camera, I’d be running 135 (if possible) through this with an adapter because I’d love to take photos with the sprockets shown.
I can't find any examples of this camera on Ebay right now for under $650. Kyle, you got a great price!
The price has gone up over the last year, for sure.
650 is a deal now
350$ 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
Thank you for your video! I'm actually looking for a medium format and the GA645 looks great. Is there a very specific 60mm model or year to buy? One more question Kyle, what film do you use? The render on the gas station sample looks just perfect. Thanks ;)
There is the GA645 and GA645i, the second one being the newer version. I think the only difference is a second shutter release button for horizontal shooting, and maybe different frame spacing. Either one will do. There is also a GA645W, with a 45mm lens. So avoid that obviously if you want the 60mm. As for film, the gas station image was shot on Fuji 400H. Most of my work is on Portra 400. Thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot for details ;)
why?? you can get Mamiya 645 or RB for same price :DD
There’s no ‘one size fits all’.
I bought my ga645 the same day my grandmother died, needed a pick me up. Doubtful I’ll ever part ways with it.
What? You didn’t buy it in a thrift store for $35? You’re slipping.
Hi, does the leaf shutter mean that it doesnt move the camera as much as a rz67 or penta 67 when shooting slow shutter speeds at night? those things slap hard and my night shots are always blurry
So you pull with your portra and Fuji pro 400 film setting at iso 200?
I love he payphone picture!
How does this compare to the GA645i and GA645zi?
i series can read the ISO barcode on film (only for Fuji's film?). And have a second shutter button. Focusing motor is more quietly.
Man, your videos are amazing. Straight to the point and filled with information I care about. Keep them coming.
Thank you, Henrique!
It’s completely electronic and even has an LCD that displays the ISO and stuff - so can it store metadata on some kind of storage or write it on the film?
Can you reframe your shot? Set AF to one subject and reframe then press the shutter?
What about the fuji 6x9 version ? have you thought about getting one of those ?
l owned one, great camera, shame about the fidly buttons that are very small.
These are now $650-800. Good job lol
This is one of my favorite cameras ever. After using it for a year or so, I'm in love with its strengths. I mostly shoot B&W (Ilford FP4 for portraits) and Slides (Fuji Provia 100F for landscapes) and when I started using it I had some issues with the Vertical Viewfinder and its minimum focusing distance (0.7m), also my particular camera has an issue of shooting 15 frames instead of 16 but the good things about this camera are that the metering is pretty reliable, the autofocus is good if you are careful, the weight of the camera makes it a truly portable MF camera, you can write the "exif" data and date of the picture on the edge of the frame, the battery lasts forever, and loading film on this is pretty fast. I recently found your channel and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality! keep up the good work.
Thanks, Mario. And yes, it's an amazing camera. Glad you're enjoying yours!
Wait, 60mm???
hermosa cámara de formato medio, lástima el hipster barba, aburren estos personajes cool
Too bad they don't make this in digital - point and shoot. Nice vid.
Great review. I love the pace, style and personality :)
Thank you!
sad to see this was the only video you did on this camera =(
your video sorta looks like fuji400h
Does anyone know if this has flash?
@@WeedIsVegan luv u, thanks
Well did you ever sell it?
Yes. Don't listen to anything I say.
Kyle McDougall I’m thinking of picking one up because I tend to shoot my landscape work as spontaneously as possible. Think I’d enjoy it?
I think you’d definitely enjoy it! I only sold mine because I wanted to experiment with some other cameras, and now I’m shooting mainly 67.
Kyle McDougall never mind prices are way too inflated
I can hear the Canadian in you when you say "about"!
I love this camera too until the GFX 50r was announced.
I love my GA645, I actually went onto Gumtree after watching the vid. Thought I would grab a second unit or perhaps a Zi. WOOOOW was I hit in the face, the prices have skyrocketed. I could not find anything under $650-$700. Over a $1000 for anything near MINT.
Great Vids by the way loving all the time and effort.
Thanks, Simon. Glad you're enjoying them. And yeah, the prices have skyrocketed over the last few months! All the more reason to hang on to mine.
HI Kyle , Do you still have your GA645, Do you use it much ? I ask because I have one but you also mentioned it was a camera that you probably would never sell . Great reviews !!
Hey there, I don't have it anymore, but I definitely miss it! For now, the Pentax 645 is filling the gap.
Just stumbled across your channel. Excellent quality. Keep fighting the good fight for film.
Thanks, Austin!
I used to own this camera several years ago (in mint condition!). Even though it's a beauty, I only shot about 2-3 films with it and then sold it, as the AF prove to be off on around >50% of the frames. Especially portraits were kind of IMPOSSIBLE to nail (always focussing elsewhere, but the face). A pity. :(
Did you use the spot focusing button next to the lens?
this video gave me major gas :)
