  • This build is of a memorial bench, known in the US as an English Garden Bench. I love making things out of wood and I love my family so this was a bit of a passion project.
In this video I will show you how I build a garden bench for my parents in law. I think it will be perfect for a place in their garden that I have in mind.
For me, woodworking, whilst there are frustrations, can be the most relaxing form of escapism. If you then add to that the pleasure of seeing a piece coming alive and witness the pleasure on the faces of the recipient, I don't think it can be beaten as a hobby.
My woodworking workshop is based in the UK but location seems to be irrelevant in this community. Wherever we live, small workshop or large, we all have the love of this craft in common.
I plan to share on RUclips, in much the same way as I learn from it. So with that in mind, if you have any questions then don't hesitate to ask in the comments section. There is no such thing as a silly question.

Back to woodworking. It's like coming home. Having retired a while ago I found that I missed working (strange but true).
But in order to start (again) I needed a workshop and tools that I had sold or dumped (to make space in my small home shed).
The new channel will consist of woodworking builds, tool reviews, woodworking techniques, workshop banter and more. Sometimes I will be able to teach beginner woodworkers or remind the more experienced and sometimes I will be asking for advice. Working with wood tends to be a passion rather than just a job, a passion (if you are watching this) we all share. So hopefully this channel will become a community because I'm not looking for subscribers, I'm looking for friends of the channel.

That Sapele looks stunning. The chamfer also came out beautifully. Nice work and great video. Appreciate the mention. And I could not agree more with your statement about negative and positive people.

Lovely bench Nick and a great series of videos on this build, the detail you go into with the little tricks here and there are great for a newbie woodworker like me. I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching more of the content you put out.

Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed it. Always good to connect with fellow woodworkers. I’ve been working with wood for years but find that I learn so much from RUclips, including your channel. Never too old (in my case) to learn.

Really nice bench! Do you have plans for sale? I would love to buy a copy.

Thank you. I’m afraid I don’t… I may do something about that in the future.
