Congrats to you for the new glider! It has been repainted and therefore adding winglets would be be a good decision. I added those years ago to my old Standard Cirrus and its behaviour in narrow thermals improved tremendously.
Hello Stefan! I found videos of him on RUclips and I was amazed. My wife has the surname LANGER and we are Brazilian. We love Germany. We are planning to return to Germany for family tourism. A big hug, God bless.
What´s your opinion about the orange color at the fuselage? Should I remove the orange markings and do a custom vinyl wrapping or just leave it as it is?
I personally believe you should take advantage of the situation and "go for gold"! Do the scheme that suites your logo best. GO FOR IT! Haha! Congratulations!
I fly the SZD-50 Puchacz and the Brazilian made Quero Quero KW1 glider here in Brazil. The Kero Kero is a single seater. I learnt to fly gliders in the Puchacz and I also give instruction on them.
Interesting you are allowed to fly with just CG hook, in the UK on my 1F they made me put both hooks in when it had a major check, with the engineers saying they could not certify it anymore in the UK with only a CofG hook. Must admit nose hook was preferable to the CoG hook when towing in rough air.
In hungary we are allowed to have only CG hook. After a season in my ASW-15B im still haveing a hard time at the first 10-15s of the towing. Im really thinking to put in a nose hook.
Mmmm, flaperons and LEAD. :-D Wonderful refinish job you found! Too bad they didn't mount winglets when they were refinishing the glider. :-( When I owned a DG-300 it was fitted with the winglets and it made *such* a big difference for these older wing/airfoil designs. Best of luck with your bird in 2021!
The thick wing profile makes it more vulnerable for bugs on the leading edge then f.e. an ASW-20. It is known to noticeably degrade the performance compared to other gliders ( as do rain drops ). Better get some bug wipers….
5:22 Are you sure it is allowed (or even a good idea) to make the panel out of aluminum? In a crash it would not be nice to have sharp metal parts flying around in cockpit. There is probably a good reason that no glider manufacturers use aluminium. My ARC inspector even made me remove a small aluminium plate I used to fix the suction cup for my glider computer in ASW20.

That bird looks fantastic! I wonder, why LS3 and not ASW20 which seems to be the best in terms of performance/handicap at the moment? Are they hard to find? or not worth it?
I think the ASW20 has a slightly higher handicap factor and is not better in performance. Honestly I don´t like the flexible wings of Schleicher gliders because you get less feedback from the air. Also the price level is lower at the LS3 and my team mate for the WGC is flying an LS3 ;)
The Std. Cirrus is also a great glider and at the moment the best glider for the buck! I don´t like the all flying tailplane which is a little bit tricky and you always need to have one hand at the stick. You also feel every air movement in the Std. Cirrus aswell as in the LS3. The empty weight of the LS3 is higher and combined with the flaps, the performance at higher speeds is better.
Hey Stefan i love your videos and I have a question for you and if you don't mind how much cost all your set up for ACG 29 and also how much was the plane?

Why not have a deployable electric self lauching glider. It makes it more independent and perhaps safer. Just the cost and maintainance might be an issue
the ACD can replace the altimeter and not affect airworthiness? I suspect it must have a backup internal battery in case the main battery dies? BTW, I noticed I rarely watch the altimeter, I use instead the digital reading on the flight computer
Hi Mana, yes the ACD can replace the mechanical altimeter. It is certified for gliders (CS-22) and I did not see that it is necessary to have a backup battery. There is no battery installed in the device. With the old mechanical altimeter I also did not look at it. That´s why I like to have a digital altimeter and also the possiblities to control the radio and transponder is great. Especially if you have a big navigation computer installed.
