- A document that is public thanks to the US copyright offices, has revealed multiple different Sonic The Hedgehog games that the Sonic Movie franchise is allowed to be based off of! This includes the entire run of Genisis titles, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Riders, Sonic 06 & Sonic Colors. There are, however, notable exceptions from the main Sonic series. Why is this? And what implications do these titles have? Let's break it all down in this video today!

I personally thought the best direction for a fourth film would be to make a hybrid between 06 and CD. Give us a reason to see both Silver AND Metal Sonic...
That doesn't necessarily mean it WILL be. But it does mean that Silver and Blaze could show up in the movies at some point (and probably will).

@@Tyedyeninja04productions I think we'll still get Silver and Blaze at some point. The movies seem to be using the games primarily for the characters and some of the mechs and the antagonists. But other than that, they seem to be largely telling their own stories.
The Babylon Rouges being in the movies make sense since they could have a possible connection with Longclaw, and the owl temple in Ice Cap Zone from Movie 2 has Babylonian text.

I really want Sonic 4 to be the Sonic 2006 movie with Silver especially since there is so many story elements there. Sonic Heroes also has some story especially with Metal Sonic. I was also surprised that they have Sonic Riders but I think with that game there could be a scene in a future Sonic movie where Sonic is racing on hoverboards which would be really cool.

I just hope they skip the yknow what scene cause tbh I think 06 has a good story but Sega just basically abused it by making the game play and cutscenes along with the Characters look a little "EW GET THIS MAN OUTTA HERE" vibes so I kinda do wanna see a sonic 06 story I just hope they're careful with what they develop plus I need the see the duo of Silver and Blaze back its been so long since we've had one last time

Silver and Blaze are great. Blaze would have the most potential because she from a different dimension and her own Chaos Emeralds called Sol Emeralds. Silver is very good potential too, him being a time traveler and uses telekinesis. But I'm hopeing to see Amy and/or Rouge in Sonic 3.

Honestly I was surprised by 06 as well but well let's face it.
Mephiles is the best villain in the series if you don't count Eggman.
And you can bring in both Silver and Blaze.
Although I do believe they'll ask for an extension to be allowed elements of Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush adventure when they introduce Blaze.
On that note. If the movies continue to rake in the cash and the story writers want to adapt elements of other games.
I don't see a reason Sega wouldn't grant them an expansion to cover them.
After all if they do intend to go full MCU. They'll eventually need more elements to build the world with.
Like using other Sega games to cross over with.
06 feels like a story that would make much more sense in a Hollywood movie than in a videogame
And they can easily fix the Elise problem by making her an anthropomorphic animal-alien like the rest of the original sonic cast.
Just a reminder that the Chaotix do exist in the movie universe because they cameoed in the IDW Sonic 2 Prequel comic. Doesn’t guarantee their inclusion in future media, but they are in the canon

Honestly I would love to see a series with the Chaotix that's just a shameless ripoff of Sherlock.
That series all but mastered the detective story and adding the Chaotix charm and silliness would result in a rather fun series.
I would love if Sonic Heroes would be adapted in the sense of having Metal Sonic be the main antagonist. It would be perfect to finally get a proper Metal Sonic characterization.
Plus with how neo metal tends to act in things like the idw comics, he could make for a great stand in for eggman when Jim Carrey leaves
Really excited to see what could get. I hope to see most of the characters make appear in future films like Blaze, Rouge, Vector, Cream, Amy (if she isnt in Sonic 3).
Dunno if this will be an unpopular opinion, but its an opinion anyway. I would love to see Silver in a film soon. Maybe the 4th movie but that's debatable. Silver is unlucky to be hard done by so much, I think he deserves a chance at one point. If Sonic 2 did Knuckles right, then why not Silver?

The story could be saved if Sonic and Elise had a relationship similar to Shadow and Maria.
There is nothing wrong about a romance in a Sonic game or movie or show. The issue is that Elise is just not written in a way where the audience would accept a romance between her and Sonic. Also I'm surprised Amy didn't smash her face in with that hammer when she saw her kiss him.
I doubt they'll use Elise. More likely they'll probably just use Silver and Blaze (and maybe Mephiles). I think the games they have access to are going to be used primarily for the characters and not to do full-on adaptations of the games.
So many different directions they could go in these future movies
While I’m happy to see that 06, CD, Heroes, and Riders can be adapted, the Thing that shocks me is how Shadow the Hedgehog, Unleashed, and Lost World can’t be Adapted in some Way, Shape, and Form.
Because Sega isn't hands on with this like the comics and cartoons, this is probably a way to have a bit of quality control.
No characters from non-game media
No obscure characters like Eggman Nega or Witchcart
No new characters that Sega is still figuring out like Infinite and Sage
I still wish Sally Acorn and the Freedom Fighters would return. And some characters from the Fleetway comics.
Unfortunately, the odds are not in their favour.
Sonic 06 based. They'd be brave to do that given however 06 did. Mainly with the whole Sonic Elise thing.
Edit: The next Movie should be Sonic Adventure based. A super sonic vs perfect chaos battle on the big screen would be Amazing
Sonic Riders should be an anime series or anime movie using the art style from the first game intro
3:40 - Sonic Heroes, I could see them maybe using the characters from it, but they would likely end up crafting their own plot around it with new villains for them to fight, something big that they would all have to team up against to warrant that many characters being in it. That could be an Infinity War-level scenario, but we'd have to see, and they'd have to bring in most of those characters before doing that movie.

Paramount is presenting their films slated for 2024 at Cinemacon this Thursday at 10:30am. We’ll see if anything turns up.

Sonic Heroes is definitely the game I want to see a movie adaptation on. However, given that the Sonic movie franchise is having its own cinematic universe, I say save it as an Avengers type movie where we’re introduced to everyone in miniseries! A Chaotix miniseries, an Amy miniseries, a possible Babylon Rouges miniseries if you want to spice things up, and of course, a Team Dark miniseries! That would be a trip straight to heaven! Who’s with me?! 🤩
The plot of 06 is perfect for an Avengers Infinity War/Endgame-level Sonic movie IMO.
Well, since Paramount wants to give The Sonic Cinematic Universe an MCU treatment for its future.
And by judging of the game titles, that Paramount could consider to adapt.
Either Sonic Heroes or Sonic 06.
(Especially, Sonic 06) would be perfect choices to adapt for a hypothetical Sonic Movie 4.
As for Sonic Riders, I’m not sure if it could work as a movie in full length.
But, I can see it better as a Paramount+

And as for Sonic Colors…. How would that work as a big budget film?

Sonic CD movie should and it better basically be a live action remake of the Sonic OVA movie
I don't know how feasible that would be though since in all likelihood Sonic 3 will be the last movie with Jim Carrey in it. I could see Metal Sonic being in a future movie, but I don't think it'll be an adaptation of the OVA. More likely, whatever villain they bring in to replace Robotnik will be the one to use Metal.
So does this mean that the movies are restricted from using comic (Archie, Fleet way and IDW) and Cartoon original characters (SATAM, X, Boom and prime)?
Yes, kinda but we don't know for shore. Which I don't mind but kinda sucks they'll not adapted Unleashed, Lost World, Forces or Frontiers anytime soon.
@@j.e.s.m.4686 the writers also said that Sonic 3 would not just adapt adventure 2, but also elements of Shadow The Hedgehog (2005), and that game is not the list. So make whatever of that as you may.

I did honestly expect this. But in retrospect, maybe I should’ve been more expecting 06 wouldn’t be adapted because of its history.
They should make what marvel did with a special presentation like Halloween where Sonic looks like the werehog and has a sort of Halloween adventure or sum
We have to wait and see what’s store for the future movies of Sonic
Well, we technically have an Easter Egg in the second movie that could retroactively be foreshadowing to the Babylon Rogues, with the Babylonian alphabet being displayed in the section of the Labyrinth with the owl statue as a reference to the Babylon Rogues being birds! And I feel like if they were to put Metal Sonic in a movie, they might try to combine the stories of Sonic CD and Sonic Heroes, and that’s how Heroes would be adapted (along with the Chaotix possibly being there, which, as a side note, I think that Jack Black would be the PERFECT voice for Vector the Crocodile!), with Metal Overlord being one of those “Avengers-level threats”. And if Sonic ‘06 got adapted, it could be a way to redeem that story and flesh out (or at least recreate or reimagine) parts that had to be cut due to time constraints.
I honestly hope they don’t milk the franchise to the point where unnecessary sequels are made….

My biggest personal concern is that neither Rush nor Rush Adventure are here. Which means they can't use Sol Dimension and/or Sol Empire, and that would either mean that Blaze won't be there, or she'll have some completely new (and potentially inconsistent) background.

6:40 - I think it's what you said. I think the reason why these specific games are on this list is because they might be using this 'phase' to introduce these characters before putting them in whatever big event movie they want them for.

As a Sonic fan I may be excited for this, however I hope none of these movies get worse and worse since we all know Paramount has always made so many sequels from their other franchises such as Star Trek, Mission Impossible, Transformers, Top Gun, Friday The 13th and even The SpongeBob Movies, so I hope none of these films go bad 😬

Honestly Babylon Rogues were hinted in Sonic movie 2. Wriring on owl statue were same as babylonian from Sonic Riders. Also hunters that came with Knuckles in the beginning had huge nod to Babylon Rogues. Its clear its some foreshadowing

And of course like you kind of implied, this is what they have access to so far. That doesn't mean they won't ever have access to anything else. If the movies continue to do well enough, they might negotiate the rights to some of the other Sonic games or possibly just other source material in general. The reason they haven't yet is probably because they don't need to yet.

I'm disappointed Shadow 05 is missing since Black Doom would be a really interesting villain to explore. Especially after Carrey retires.
Given that Shadow has the most complex backstory of all the characters, it'd be a solid plot option in the rumored Shadow series, which could then lead into a full-scale alien invasion in a movie.
Yeah, I was dissapointed that Shadow 05 wasn’t there, but considering all things, they might take full liberty with the rest of Shadow’s story, or worst-case scenario, he dies at the end of Sonic 3 and they keep him dead
Sonic Heroes being on the list, in addition to the Team Chaotix, also gives them more leeway to do big things Metal, and also (combined with '06) means if they wanted to do a full-on Team Dark movie/TV show they could....
Im kinda surprised Sonic Unleashed isnt on here, of all the sonic games id say that has one of the stronger blockbuster movie structures they could adapt.
There’s a clear reason why, they can’t have the earth splitting apart in a sonic movie, just like how they can have shadow the hedgehog for obvious reasons

imo an 06 movie would be "time traveler from the future comes to kill sonic to stop the apocalypse". its reputation makes it not unlikely that the elise/solaris apocalypse gets replaced by some other apocalypse. (although i personally would like mephiles to stay! but you could replace him with another villain...)
Although its interesting to note that 06's story doesnt really need eggman. if you dont have access to him, this is a story where its very easy to remove him from the narrative.(but we would lose out on everyones favourite part of 06.... elise getting kidnapped 20 times!)
The only thing that bothers me is the lack of unleashed since it's my favourite game in the series, I wouldn't want a full on unleashed based film since it doesn't really work with the world they already have set up and if I wanted an unleashed movie I would rather have it be animated like the intro cutscene.
They are very loose on things with games, I feel they might make a mini movie or show for Halloween where sonic becomes it
I was definitely expecting Sonic 06, Sonic Adventure 1, and Sonic Heroes because the main villains for those games could be changed from Eggman to Mephilis, Chaos, and Metal Sonic respectively.
Sonic Colours and Sonic Riders are a little bit more of a stretch in my opinion. Like, I think they could introduce the Wisps and Jet the Hawk. But as for the stories. Well, if Jim Carrey is retiring after this I think they are going to have to introduce a lot more new villains instead of Eggman which will definitely be interesting to see.
I am one of the few who like Sonic Forces and I think it would make an awesome movie. I was also glad to see Sonic Colors on the list. I also think Sonic 06 would make an awesome movie
I’d love to see a chaotix series. A csi sort of spin for those guys would be cool. Metal sonic if he isn’t in this movie, potential agent stone creating him in the post credit scene. That would set up our villain for movie 4. If Jim does decide he is definitely finished after movie 3.
Sonic 06 would be great as a movie. The game was buggy as hell but the story line was decent. Silver needs redemption just like Shadow got with prime and the 06 story.
Chaos I think would be cool but I struggle to think how they could write that character into the movie universe with how they have set up chaos emerald lore. There’s no Angel island and the emeralds (including the master emerald) are a lot smaller in the movie universe.

I found a hole in the story. Shadow the Hedgehog (Game) isn't on the list and Commander Walters (Olive Garden Guy) is an adaption of the GUN Commander from Shadow the Hedgehog. Interviews have also Said Sonic 3 might use content from Shadow the Hedgehog. (Though I can't find this now) You could possibility pile on the 'Sonic 4 Episode 1' reference in the second film.
If they do adapt the Babylon Rogues in the movies, I hope they make Longclaw and the owl race have an origin connection to the Babylonian race.

I hope that they've since updated the list by a little bit so that we can see elements from Shadow's spinoff game.
I'm not suprised with Sonic Riders, since they show the Babylonian alphabet in Sonic 2, clearly they're teasing the Babylon Rogues.

I could see SA1 and 06 being adapted (not likely to the extent of SA2), i dont think any other sonic game really has a compelling storyline. But Paramount are doing a fab job of creating their own stories and they're marketing really well. I'm just happy to see this franchise evolve

I mean technically there were elements from 2 of the games in sonic movie 2 like when tails knuckles and sonic decide to work together to defeat Robotnic and stand as a team (Sonic Heroes reference) also when Sonic and knuckles are snow boarding on the mountain the boards could represent riding boards (Sonic Riders reference)

I think that they should soon start adapting elements from Sonic 06, and have Silver be in the Sonic 3 mid-credits scene. I very much want him to be in this universe because he's 1 of my 3 top favorite Sonic characters and there's soo much wasted potential in him. He showed a good amount of optimistim and character development in that game, and seeing him use his telepathy on the big screen would be epic and entertaining for sure. Making a loose adaption movie of 06 would be a good way to show good stuff about him to people who didn't see what he was like in that game because the technical problems that it has prevented them from wanting to play it, and because there are a lot of new fans who weren't born before the 7th gen consoles that that game got released on got discontinued. Paramount can easily replace the princess Elise romance nonsense with something better because most fans don't like that element and the world that these movies take place in doesn't have royal family stuff in it so putting her in would truly make no sense at all in the movies. The epic villians Mephilis, Iblis, and Solaris who debuted in 06 would be interesting to see in that movie too.
