I'll question being comfortable. I'm in a service position and at home I'm a care taker for two people. In order to progress in my goals, I have to not only relax in my off time.
expectations are my downfall!! Ive learned to set more realistic expectations because I was CONSTANTLY disappointing myself and making myself unhappy because of these unrealistic expectations I would set!!!
For so long I’ve been neglecting to schedule doctors appointments.... with you voice nagging me in the head to just do it. Last night I scheduled myself an hour in the morning to look up providers and schedule appointments. And now it’s DONE and I feel SO GOOD!! Small but mighty win today. THANK YOU!!
Being aware of when we are expecting something and switching that thought and want to intentional actions will make all the difference. We have to keep in mind that we are not in control of what happens outside of us. From a self love content creator to another; great tips Amy! ❤️
Thank you Amy for always being an inspiration and your realness is so refreshing! The Seneca quote is so powerful! I journal and stopped, however I'm going to start again, that's what I'm going to start doing to answer your question! Get it on paper!Thank you for sharing Amy💜
YYYYEEEEESSSS!!!! I have been saying this for a year - nothing was ever guaranteed before the pandemic - we are living on earth and we are humans. UGH!
I love this!!! “Don’t label things” -why would we label something if everything is subject to change 🤯☺️ I recently started a YT channel and what I will do different is to change my mindset from expectations to intentions. This will help me crush fear and perfectionism and take action! Thank You for always inspiring us to #gatluw 💗
Thank you Amy! I enjoyed hearing your insight - my favorite is the quote of "worry before necessary, you suffer more than necessary" !! I really think alot of us can relate to that!
I'm embracing the change and excited for the uncomfortable future, as growth is knowledge and knowledge can be personal development if we allow it to be.
I started writing Morning Pages a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know how to start on the first day, and now I NEED to write my pages because afterwards I feel relief and I see things more clearly. And sometimes my worries disappear after writing them down. Isn't that incredibly awesome???? :-)
I feel like shifting my expectations to intentions has been the biggest lesson of 2020 for me! Practicing that now in 2021 has made the ‘more of 2020’ that has happened feel less disappointing in a way :)
Omg I love this video!! we can take the hypothetical write it down and put it in real life! Omg and the Seneca quote “One who suffers before it is necessary suffers more than necessary” is exactly what I need to focus more on. When you know what is you have a great place to start!
I love the point about « expectations vs intentions ». I had to tell a good friend today that I’d rather not talk about my job search because it’s too depressing and uncomfortable in the long run to dwell on how things are (not) going.
I love how you outline each step in your videos. This past year, I’ve noticed that I’ve been focused on the next change and letting a lot of other stuff fall by the wayside, including professional relationships that usually chug along from seeing people at the same events. In the coming year, I would like to improve my networking skills, but I think I need networking explained to me like I’m an alien. 👽 I understand the idea behind reaching out to # of contacts a week or day, but . . . how? I would love videos diving into the networking game. Like, how do you organize your contacts for outreach? How can you revive conversations that have faded out with colleagues from months or years ago? What are some great conversation starters in emails or texts? How can you follow up without being a pest and actually solidify professional contacts? I would love a video on this & I think you would be able to give practical, actionable steps to improve this skill 😀
This is spectacular advice, Amy! I'm taking notes so I can remind myself. I find I'm having to force myself to push past my uneasiness to accomplish the things I want done. Do you have any advice for those of us who, especially professionally, can't control our own schedule? I'm in a service position for within my organization and for our clients. I typically can't enforce my time boundaries, especially if it's time sensitive.
Totally understandable. I would say focus on what you CAN control. The time before and after work. The time within work when you're not expected to drop everything. You do have some time that you can lead the charge in your more efficient way, so focus on that!
@@AmyTV Thanks for the advice! The way you phrased it gave me an idea. I think I'll discuss with my supervisor about allocating non-time sensitive requests to a certain day of the week, depending on how small or large the request is. That way we don't have to reevaluate my priorities every time something like that comes across my desk. I've gotten better about scheduling in time for professional development and documentation. I also have started including time slots for scheduling itself which has been useful. Sort of like you do you Sunday scheduling for the week. Love your channels!!
Amy ...wow this vid was brilliant in giving me both permission to feel sluggish this morning ... Due to my little one being sick all night. 😜Luckily only tonsilitis.😔 Then watching your superb vid, enabled me to move beyond 'slugish' and embrace today's slower pace and to find on my to-do list tasks which do require slower approach. Thank you x Bless 🤗

Hi Amy, Been following your channel since the GMGL book came out. Reached out to your team a couple of times. Tried to reach out to you on Instagram with a couple questions; not sure if you received my messages.
I work in a business that just switched from Oracle to a different system. It's honestly a shit show. Constant issues. I haven't heard of anything about the netsuite side of it.
Generally, I like your videos, but this one is full of words and empty with content. So much general advice, phrases, quotes and talking, but nothing specific. After listening to this a few times (cause it was hard to follow and focus) it was hard to point out some actual, helpful, practical information from this video.

Perfect advice for uncertain times.
Love the idea of stop trying to make sure there is so much certainty. Life always has an uncertain aspect to it. Amazing content!!
I commented early.. that line about mind punctuating a thought to task and we feel better!! We did something about it !! 👏👏
Yes 👏🏻We 👏🏻 Did!
I teach in a high school in Birmingham, Alabama and I will be assigning this video to my students!
