JJ sure is an important part of the Sabres season. Quinn, Cozens, and Peterka was a fantastic line a few years ago. Injuries are a heck of a thing that have plagued this team last season and the start of this year
Out of all the Atlantic teams, Buffalo is the one that scares me the most… for the future. They will have the best defence, they will have elite goaltending they’re just not there. But when they do get there, they won’t relinquish it for a very long time.
As a Sabres fan... this 0-2 start was awful. I know it's super early but I didn't like what I saw. No fight at all. Tuch drops the gloves for JJ and doesn't throw a single punch, just did it because he had to and went through the motions... that sums up what we saw from this team to open the season. These early games are supposed to set the tone... Jersey knew that, Buffalo didn't. Awful start, 2 goals in 6 periods.
Im not a fan of regular season games overseas. It seems like a lot of travel BS for no reason. Maybe the players like it, but watching the sabres these 2 games makes me think not really.
Little Dylan Cozens? I mean I know he’s not a HEAVY guy, but he is 6’3”. But yeah, we neeeeeeed him to be the guy that played for Team Canada this summer. Devils are a good team. Sucks to be 0-2 already. Bounce back at home for the love of my sanity.
Watching this team is endlessly frustrating.. and that’s before the players leave to win cups on other teams! They have so many talented young players but they have been horribly mismanaged and have a longstanding losing culture that they can’t seem to shake. It’s one thing to start 0-2 against a really good devils team but hated their play the majority of the game and they got outclassed in every area. Not looking good already this year!
0-2. Got absolutely demolished by New Jersey in basically every facet possible. They looked completely lifeless on offense. They had no sense of space or the simple ability to hit the freaking net with a shot. Their "Power" Play has less juice than an AMC Gremlin with no engine. Peterka now is likely out for multiple weeks getting absolutely rocked and then Tuch gets his ass kicked in the tilt immediately afterward and can't even throw a punch correctly in a fight. No hockey IQ. Utterly abysmal "defense" from Joki and Samuelsson. No fight. No urgency. As a lifelong fan, I am just so tired of every single season being a death march to destruction and so far this looks no different. They fall behind in their home opener against LA, there will be pitchforks and torches coming out of that crowd. They will be booed off the ice every period that goes by and they deserve it. It'll be 14 years by January as the beat continues to go on in the cesspool of Terry Pegula's sideshow circus known as the Sabres. SOS has two meanings. 1. Same Old Sabres 2. Save Our Sabres. As a fanbase, we're done. We're just done.
The NHL is brutal, it’s really hard to turn around a bad franchise. Free agency is limited and the draft is almost meaningless due to the fact that you’re drafting kids who are usually 3 years away from being impactful players in the league. The lack of player movement in the league and the inherent inefficiency of trying to project teenagers at the NHL level makes it hard to build from the bottom.
