SOS was a favorite of mine for close to 30 years and then I heard DIMASH do it and all the other singers I have heard perform this song "melted" away from my memory. You are correct he now owns this song as if it was written for him only. I listen to him daily for 5 yrs, since first hearing him.

I have had the honor and privilege of meeting Dimash in New York City on more than one occasion. He is humble and a superstar! He congratulated both my fiancé and I which were now married in person when he heard we were engaged and we were Dears those are his followers he was ecstatic the two of his dears came together. Nevertheless, with regards to his pronunciation if you look at his latter work of SOS like the Slavic bazaar and most recently in 2021 singing SOS you’ll see that he evolved to perfection with regards to pronunciation. I have seen his English in other languages evolve please keep in mind when he started singing sos He starting at a younger age and what you’re seeing here in 2017 is just an evolution you must see sinful passion, Olimpico, ikainaide what was she singing in Russian, Italian, and Japanese. Also he sang the diva dance which as you know was computerize with half human half computer he sings it live he is known as an alien or an angel. Must watch Ave Maria which was composed by Eagle Kotori. So much to recommend. Great analysis with the exception of the constructive criticism on the language . They are all good but Dimash added his own melody that it wasn't in the original and it sound really, really good. This was in 2017 The Singer competition for professional singers in China. He was 22 yrs old and was invited as a wild card and was not expected to make it for more than one or two weeks. He was then scheduled to sing as the very first performer in the very first episode of the season to 1 billion people live. Dimash was so nervous he was shaking right before he stepped in front of the audience. He blew away the audience of 500 judges and became a superstar in China overnight. He had been singing this song for years and knew the correct pronunciation but his nerves got to him this one time. He sings it at every concert so if you go to one of his upcoming concerts, you will hear him sing it live. The closest concert will be March 25 in Dubai at the Coca-Cola arena. Here is some information about Dimash, some of which you have already researched yourself. Dimash is from Kazakhstan, but more specifically, he is a native Kazakh. Kazakhs are a separate indigenous people from regular Kazakhstanis. They are the original Nomad tribes from the steppes; some still live as nomadic people. Dimash is a direct descendant and lives traditionally with his extended family, and they keep all the cultural traditions. It is custom that the firstborn son of a family is given to a set of grandparents to raise for at least 10 years. Dimash was entrusted to his paternal grandparents, and they raised him to be highly confident in himself. They raised him to believe that God had a great plan for him, and he should pursue it and dedicate himself to that plan with his entire being. When he was age 5, he informed his grandmother that her piano was out of tune, and they knew immediately what that plan was. His grandparents decided to enroll him in the best children's music school, and thanks to Dimash's parents relative fame, he was accepted. They were poor but determined to give him the best. There was no room for slack, and Dimash had a personality that would dedicate himself entirely to his craft. We are now seeing the results of everything that happened in his family and in his own self-determination and confidence instilled in him. There he started singing and piano lessons at the age of five and was found to have perfect pitch. He is university-educated with degrees in classical/Opera, contemporary music, pop, and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical master's class and has recently completed his Master's with a concentration in Composition; his thesis was titled: "Personal Image of Traditional Music." The only one who can outdo Dimash is Dimash himself. And if you are already blown away by a video then to see him live in concert will catapult you into other spheres. That’s what happened to me at his concert in Riga. It was a lifetime experience and I have never been at any other concert in 50 years which could be compared. My first song of him was sinful passion and I fell in love with his voice, my second song was this version of SOS and I fell in love with him. 😁
I was at Riga too, I was worried the concert would be cancelled through covid. But we just squeezed it in before lockdown in U.K. watching Dimash every day through our lockdowns, made it all bearable. Bear in mind that this was2017. Four years is a long time for an artist in his twenties who is always striving to improve. This performance launched Dimash on the world. One of his most recent releases in Akinaide, which he sings in Japanese. It is a nice bookend in terms of seeing how far he has developed.
In a later performance Dimash sung the words WITHOUT sounding the S. He has also been studying Mandarin and English and he keeps getting better with those languages. 🎶👱♀️👗👠👠💓 The people they show there are mainly the other contestants and the hosts of the show. The 500 member audience were the judges in each episode of the 14 week and episode competition. The other competitors were all professionals and Dimash was invited as an unknown wildcard.

Dimash will shock and surprise you and delight you all at the same time every single time. Seeing him live is a wonderful experience. 3 hours of concert seems like 30 minutes. Goes way too fast. He is utterly mesmerizing. He has the cutest accent of all time. When he speaks English which he is really pretty good at, we call it Dinglish and we absolutely love it. Recently famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy wrote for Dimash his own version of Ave Maria, no lyrics, just a vocalize. He also wrote a song called Stranger where you see him do the lowest of notes to high and everything in between.
He does have live concerts online, well produced feast for the eyes too. Phenomenal night of tremendous epic music. I've been listening every day for three years and it does not diminish one bit.

This was a historic moment and this is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (This is what Dimash calls us fans.) This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight. In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old) and the first non-Chinese. Foreign participants were actually forbidden until then. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. If you watch his latest from his digital show 2021 you’ll see his low tones are much lower making the range ever bigger. He is indeed a great performer putting 100% in each song with deep feelings. I have had the honor and privilege of meeting Dimash in New York City on more than one occasion. He is humble and a superstar! He congratulated both my fiancé and I which were now married in person when he heard we were engaged and we were Dears those are his followers he was ecstatic the two of his dears came together. Nevertheless, with regards to his pronunciation if you look at his latter work of SOS like the Slavic bazaar and most recently in 2021 singing SOS you’ll see that he evolved to perfection with regards to pronunciation. I have seen his English in other languages evolve please keep in mind when he started singing sos He starting at a younger age and what you’re seeing here in 2017 is just an evolution you must see sinful passion, Olimpico, ikainaide what was she singing in Russian, Italian, and Japanese. Also he sang the diva dance which as you know was computerize with half human half computer he sings it live he is known as an alien or an angel. Must watch Ave Maria which was composed by Eagle Kotori. So much to recommend. Great analysis with the exception of the constructive criticism on the language . This was in 2017 The Singer competition for professional singers in China. He was 22 yrs old and was invited as a wild card and was not expected to make it for more than one or two weeks. He was then scheduled to sing as the very first performer in the very first episode of the season to 1 billion people live. Dimash was so nervous he was shaking right before he stepped in front of the audience. He blew away the audience of 500 judges and became a superstar in China overnight. He had been singing this song for years and knew the correct pronunciation but his nerves got to him this one time. He sings it at every concert so if you go to one of his upcoming concerts, you will hear him sing it live. The closest concert will be March 25 in Dubai at the Coca-Cola arena. There are three more scheduled but don't know if the dates are firm. Check Dimash's Instagram or Facebook for current information on the firm concert schedule.

Here is some information about Dimash, some of which you have already researched yourself. Dimash is from Kazakhstan, but more specifically, he is a native Kazakh. Kazakhs are a separate indigenous people from regular Kazakhstanis. They are the original Nomad tribes from the steppes; some still live as nomadic people. Dimash is a direct descendant and lives traditionally with his extended family, and they keep all the cultural traditions. It is custom that the firstborn son of a family is given to a set of grandparents to raise for at least 10 years. Dimash was entrusted to his paternal grandparents, and they raised him to be highly confident in himself. They raised him to believe that God had a great plan for him, and he should pursue it and dedicate himself to that plan with his entire being.
When he was age 5, he informed his grandmother that her piano was out of tune, and they knew immediately what that plan was. His grandparents decided to enroll him in the best children's music school, and thanks to Dimash's parents relative fame, he was accepted. They were poor but determined to give him the best. There was no room for slack, and Dimash had a personality that would dedicate himself entirely to his craft. We are now seeing the results of everything that happened in his family and in his own self-determination and confidence instilled in him.
There he started singing and piano lessons at the age of five and was found to have perfect pitch. He is university-educated with degrees in classical/Opera, contemporary music, pop, and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical master's class and has recently completed his Master's with a concentration in Composition; his thesis was titled: "Personal Image of Traditional Music." He graduated with Honours, achieving a perfect score of 100%. He is currently working towards his Ph.D. as he wants to teach music after his singing career.
Dimash has diligently honed his craft and developed his God-given gift for more than 20 years now, and it shows. I read somewhere that Dimash used to swim 3 hours every day to increase his lung capacity. It's not just raw natural talent but tremendous work, dedication, and discipline to achieve this level of performance. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a much-loved national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He was even offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path, and he has been very successful thus far.
He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is getting pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin, which he says is a challenging language to learn. Dimash also plays six instruments; the piano, dombra, guitar, xylophone, cello, and drums. He usually performs for more than two hours during his live concerts and treats his audience to an eclectic mix of styles.
According to some analysts, his range is over 7 octaves (A1-D8), spanning across all four registers. As many probably know, the four registers, from lowest to highest, are vocal fry (pulse), modal voice, falsetto, and flageolet (whistle tone), and Dimash seems to effortlessly navigate between them, often within a single breath and without a break in between. Dimash has even hit a D8 for ~5 seconds with vibrato, the highest note ever performed during any live performance. He sings in multiple musical genres. His primary genre is classical crossover, but he also sings classical music (bel canto), pop, and world music. He uses musical elements, vocal styles, and techniques of many other genres, including jazz, rock (e.g., screams), RnB, musical theater, even rap, and Tribal and Middle Eastern styles.

Beware, some Dimash fans can be almost cultic to the point of fanaticism, and they get outright defensive and combative over any perceived criticism of their "object of worship." Quite sad because I am sure that Dimash himself would handle criticism with much more grace and kindness. They would fare well to keep in mind that Dimash is just a man, not God. I admire good music and talent, regardless of genre, and do not count myself among the Dimash fanatics, but I am utterly amazed by him.
He was only 22 years old here and this was his introduction to the world in a way. This is the performance that I saw of him first. I cried like a baby. He so gobsmacked China that he needed bodyguards the next day...in a good way. :)

The only one who can outdo Dimash is Dimash himself. And if you are already blown away by a video then to see him live in concert will catapult you into other spheres. That’s what happened to me at his concert in Riga. It was a lifetime experience and I have never been at any other concert in 50 years which could be compared. My first song of him was sinful passion and I fell in love with his voice, my second song was this version of SOS and I fell in love with him. 😁
I was at Riga too, I was worried the concert would be cancelled through covid. But we just squeezed it in before lockdown in U.K. watching Dimash every day through our lockdowns, made it all bearable. My daughter has just moved to Dubai to work, and has surprised me with tickets for his first concert since the pandemic. I’m soooo excited. Hope you get to see Dimash live again. (Christine:)

Dimash is born in 1994, May 24, height: 1.91m; 6'3 '. He has been training in music since he was 5 years old. He is university-educated with degrees in classical/opera, contemporary music, pop, and jazz with a major in vocal. Dimash also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has recently completed his Master's with a concentration in Composition. He graduated with honors’, having achieved a perfect pitch. He has composed 12 of his own songs so far and is currently working on his doctorate. We have to call him soon Doctor Dimash Qudaibergen. 😃
Dimash plays at least 7 instruments, traditional dombra is a must in his family. He speaks Kazakh (mother tongue) and Russian (without accent, second language in Kazakhstan), is learning English and Mandarin (dancing and Mandarin are difficult for him). So far, he sings in 13 languages. He trains his voice for 3 hours every day, has a perfect pitch.
Experts consider Dimash a lyrical baritone with a typically long range. Some believe that he sings his high notes not as a countertenor, but as a natural soprano. He is the first singer to sing all 5 voices: bass, baritone, tenor, contralto, soprano.

Bear in mind that this was2017. Four years is a long time for an artist in his twenties who is always striving to improve. This performance launched Dimash on the world. One of his most recent releases in Akinaide, which he sings in Japanese. It is a nice bookend in terms of seeing how far he has developed.
In a later performance Dimash sung the words WITHOUT sounding the S. He has also been studying Mandarin and English and he keeps getting better with those languages. 🎶👱♀️👗👠👠💓 The people they show there are mainly the other contestants and the hosts of the show. The 500 member audience were the judges in each episode of the 14 week and episode competition. The other competitors were all professionals and Dimash was invited as an unknown wildcard.

He was relatively unknown at the time. The competition was for established Chinese singers. I believe this was the first show of the season and he was the first contestant.
The mind-blowing thing aside from his performance is that he came in 2nd place. Sandy Lam was the winner.

Dimash will shock and surprise you and delight you all at the same time every single time. Seeing him live is a wonderful experience. 3 hours of concert seems like 30 minutes. Goes way too fast. He is utterly mesmerizing. He has the cutest accent of all time. When he speaks English which he is really pretty good at, we call it Dinglish and we absolutely love it. Recently famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy wrote for Dimash his own version of Ave Maria, no lyrics, just a vocalize. He also wrote a song called Stranger where you see him do the lowest of notes to high and everything in between.

Dimash sings in Italian beautifully. Try Ti Amo Cosi or Olimpico. When he sings in his native Kasach it's gorgeous try Samaltau. Ikanaide in Japanese is quite beautiful. Watch Sinful Passion where he's wearing the burgandy tux and you will change your mind about being in love with him.

This was a historic moment and this is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (This is what Dimash calls us fans.) This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old) and the first non-Chinese. Foreign participants were actually forbidden until then. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned Chinese hydroglyphs: Di - achievement Ma - precious stone Shi - dream, wish.
This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RUclips ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).

Great reaction! You are right he has absolute hearing and perfect pitch. Every performance of SOS is slightly different and it’s a must in every concert. His French has improved a lot. If you watch his latest from his digital show 2021 you’ll see his low tones are much lower making the range ever bigger. He is indeed a great performer putting 100% in each song with deep feelings. He is very hard worker and constantly improving and he does his own arrangements. He is a multi instrumentalist too. Great artist! I recommend SINFUL PASSION next. He sang also a French duet of TU VAS ME DÉTRUIRE. Beautiful! Btw he has concerts coming in Dubai, Minsk, Düsseldorf and Prague, March and April this year. Merci! Take care
