He doesn't just go down or up because he feels like showing he can, but because of the interpretation of the song. This song is especially composed for a singer with a wide vocal range, as it is about a depressed person who sings about not feeling good on the ground and wanting to become a bird and fly to the sky because the earth might look more beautiful from above. This song is about physical and emotional contrasts between ups and downs.
Even before I knew the words to this song, just the the way he sings it makes you feel like you're being pulled into the sky. It's indescribable.

Yes he can rap lol. He’s literally the best singer in the world. There are dozens of masterpieces. You’re going to have a million requests. Sinful Passion New Wave 2018 is a must. For a completely different feel, a recent premiere is called Stranger, from New Wave 2021. This song sounds like something that belongs in an epic fantasy movie or musical theatre
This was 5 years ago. He has 2 masters degrees in music and his fan base are called Dears. He sings SOS in many ways but his SOS 2021 is amazing. Stranger. 2021 Ave Maria. and my favorite is his Japanese song IKANAIDE.
That was back in 2017 when he was 22 years old. Now, at age 27, his voice has matured even more, it has become richer and fuller.
His musical aspiration is to fuse different styles into holistic units in which the styles fit neatless to each other. Some have termed it "popera".

This was Dimash's first performance on the annual Chinese TV singing show known as "The Singer", a four month competition for experienced singers which is broadcast into 600 million Chinese homes. He was the only non-Chinese invited to the show. The audience are music and vocal coaches and are also the judges. After each round, the judges vote and rank the performances of all of the contestants. After this performance, Dimash had to have bodyguards for the first time. He has a 7 octave range and can sing in any genre in about eight different languages. He is fluent in Kazakh and Russian, and is getting better in English and Chinese. Every performance is different (and he now has hundreds) and he never ceases to amaze! He is also working on his Ph.D. in Musicology. You'll discover that he loves his family, his country, and his fans which he calls "Dears". I stumbled across Dimash almost two years ago when I started watching reaction videos during the Pandemic furlough. I'm 71 years old and have never seen or heard anyone as good as Dimash! You're right that he can sing any and all genres, including rap. He's absolutely amazing! If it wasn't for the pandemic he surely would be better known in the U.S. He has just done a solo concert in N.Y. at the end of 2019 which attracted 19,000 from around the world. I'm sure he would've done a few more in that two years, in addition to other things. But one thing he has working against him is that he wants to be in complete charge of his music and not have some American record producer telling him what kind of music to sing. He's a very determined young man who's been studying music since 5 yrs old. He's extremely loved by his fan base because he's more than an unbelievable singer. He's also sweet, kind, generous, loves his family and country immensely and doesn't hid it, and says he's a fan of his fans. 😊 Keep reacting to him and you won't regret it. Greetings from Las Vegas!
People get annoyed with pausing in my experience mostly because the reactors also aren’t going back to resettle into the song. Pausing is absolutely better than talking over a phenom like Dimash. Either way if you just go back a little whenever you resume, most people are great with that. You really have only seen a small fraction of what he can do with just this song. No lie

@@YourOnlineSingingCoach as Dimash doesn’t follow typical song arrangement we see the reactors missing out on contrasting timbres that he uses to emphasize the song or how each reflects the meaning of the lyrics. Generally the ten second rewind tokeep the rhythm intact.
@@YourOnlineSingingCoach I'm going to recommend to you a fellow Kazakh singer that Dimash has called a National Treasure. This is 15 year old Daneliya Tuleshova. This young lady has a voice, but more than that she can access you emotions and take you where most other singers cannot. The songs I am recommending are relatively recent but they give you a great overview of what she can do. Please give this girl a chance you will not be disappointed.

Note - I dont know if its unintentional from your side while edited or you found the video elsewhere and not from the Dimash official channel, but I can hear it is edited to [-1 or -2] in tempo\tonality\speed in audio workstation. The original is faster in music composition and Dimash voice is a bit higher. Just choose songs from youtube official channel or official TV program where Dimash performed on, for future reactions.
Also S.O.S performance was from competition show " I am a singer" '2017 in that show he performed some crazy and beautiful compositions (Gloria Wu channel has some background history on this show for better to know Dimash) , you can continue this show songs or watch his later 2018+ most popular performances. all of it will blow your mind 💯

Nice heartfelt reaction to the greatest vocalist on the planet by any measurable metric. You will need 10-12 performances in multiple styles and languages to begin to understand the scope of his talent. He is giving the world masterclass performances that will be analyzed for the next 100 years . Check out "Ave Maria ", "Stranger " and "Olymplco 2021" . This performance was from 2017. Stranger from New Wave is better for their first watch IMO. Music wise, awesome stage production, it shows how wonderful the song is in itself. The Chinese version had very beautiful parts too, but it's not so complete as a song and performance.

SOS is the perfect place to start, but you may make the mistake of thinking that it was a song specially made so he could leverage every vocal acrobatics in his repertoir into one single crowning performance on a very good day. To put it mildly: he didn't.

You could try Opera 2 next, it's more fun and cheeky, but still mind blowing and it's, 2nd episode at this competition I am Singer 2017 in China. Greetings from Cape Town South Africa
This was Dimash's first professional competition. He had previously only done amateur competitions. All the other singers in the green room were established, professional, Chinese singers. He had the opening act of the opening night of the 2017 Singer competition that goes for 13 weeks, and he chose to sing a French song to a Chinese audience/judges. That takes nerve.
His digital music release went triple platinum in a day or so at the end of this competition, so yes, he is internationally established.
He's from Kazakhstan. His most comfortable singing languages are Russian and Kazakh, but he learned to sing a Mandarin song during the Singer competition (Autumn Strong) phonetically in a week and made the Chinese audience cry. He recently did the original Japanese version of the same song (Ikanaide) at the Tokyo Jazz Festival and reviewers have said his Japanese was excellent. I don't think he speaks much Japanese.

You could also just start with all 13 of his songs from the 2017 Singer (aka I Am Singer) competition. Great orchestra and staging and he's on his A game the whole way because it is a competition. But he is always on his A game. That little half second smile near the end of SOS is the only time I've seen him break character.

OK. About his French diction. Dimash performed SOS many times, both before and after this particular performance. He never pronounced the s in ris and vis. Ever. Only this one time. Strange, right? My take on this is that he was extremely nervous because this was his first exposure to the Chinese public, and by RUclips extension, to the international and western public. It was his make or break moment. When I’m very nervous, I forget everything I’ve learned and sort of revert to my primeval self. That might be what happened right there. He relaxes more and more through the song, and in the last verse, he regained conscious control and did not pronounce that last s…😁

What type of music he is striving for? His own genre. He turned down an offer to join the Astana Opera in order to develop his own style. So far, he has experimented with the insertion of cultural or operatic elements into pop songs, as in All By Myself (from Singer 2017, where he added a cadenza); Lionel Richie’s Hello (from Singer 2018, where he reframed the entire song and added a Middle Eastern music section). Later, he experimented on just using vocalization to reinterpret a song: please watch Know, then watch the Vocalise version.
He also loves his homeland and produced a number of songs focused on very deep themes related to it, as in Qairan Elim and Omir Oter.

If you want to take the Dimash journey of discovery, you will be so glad you did, and many Dimash Dears will join you as we get great delight at watching others get blown away by our awesome dimash, I recommend you use Gloria Wu’s channel as she has English subtitles and the backstory to his songs that are based in real events plus she has done something to avoid getting her videos blocked. Even if you don’t react to them all it is great to see how he has taken the perfection of those performances and just taken perfection to a whole new level.
The song is about a distraught man contemplating suicide because of the death of his Beloved by suicide/overdose. At the songs end, as he stands over her body letting her go to sleep, resting in peace.

This was a historic moment and this is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (This is what Dimash calls us fans.) This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old) and the first non-Chinese. Foreign participants were actually forbidden until then. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned Chinese hydroglyphs: Di - achievement Ma - precious stone Shi - dream, wish.
This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RUclips ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).

I think Dimash doesn’t sing in only one particular genre. Most of his songs have multiple genres incorporated into one song. The best you can classify him as classical pop but that’s very broad by definition. He sings opera-rock-folks-jazz-rap-dance pop and more, often use each technique in different phrases to bring the different nuances, to create magic or story.

Dimash is just Dimash and he does whatever he wants pretty much. This was in 2017 when he was 22. This is also just the tip of the iceberg of what he can do with that incredible voice. He sings in many languages including English and yes... he can rap too.

He doesn't speak French, so his later versions of SOS are much better with the pronunciation. Check out the Slavic Bazaar 2018 and Digital Show 2021 versions.
Actually, his pronunciation in previous versions of SOS are also better than in this performance. He was simply very nervous here. Anyway, those Chinese spectators - who were also judges - probably didn't care or even notice if there were some mistakes...
