@@daivasjallencherry4335: oh you should watch his early round table interviews . As a director he understands the business and economics behind it . There is a masterclass which he did on another podcast about how films are made . He actually explains how each and every film is decided on what budget to make . You can find it on RUclips if you’re interested.
P.S: I am no fan of Karan Johar but I feel he has a good insight on the economics of movies

In all honesty, film companion round tables are the only ones I look back and tally the movies I loved through the year and movies I will catch-up on after watching the round table. The round table helps to get to know people like vetrimaran, Karthik or parvathy’s pov about social responsibility to people like me who usually only watch Hindi movies. And opens up a new realm of cinema. Keep doing it you guys! ❤

Couldn't agree more. A regular writer's Roundtable is essential. There is just so much that goes into writing a Script and a good Screenplay. And to listen to how and where these stories come from would be so interesting. After all Cinema at it's core is 'story' telling

Oh please there is no round table like FC. Rajeev’s in his day was awesome but I think today FC is the best, Rajeev comes a close second only coz it’s Netflix curated.
This was such an outstanding adda, Anupama and Sneha great as always but so so happy for Suchin and Rohini who are turning out to be so amazing!
Keep up the good work guys 😊

Rajeev Masand's roundtables for CNN- IBN were awesome. I don't like FC roundtables much. I watch them but Anupama does not control the flow of the conversation. If you watch them, she lets the conversation get away from her. Whereas, Rajeev always had interesting questions and controlled the flow of the conversation really well while being open to candid conversation as well. His Writers roundtables were also great. I agree that the Netflix roundtables are not working because I think that he is constrained by the guests. He can only talk about Netflix content. And that I think is a let down.

This was my favourite episode ever! And Sneha, because you asked for it - here’s what I feel about the Roundtables -
I’ve watched FC roundtables since the start. No comparison but I like them more than any others - they feel warmer, genuine and less uptight.
About this year. Apart from the top notch production and location, just the enthusiasm and sets of questions felt nice. I can’t tell you how much it means to watch an FC round table - it feels like a warm hug at the end of the tiring day. I’m making notes on what should be seen and I leave with my heart full.
You all should know that it matters more to people than you think it does. For some of us, we can never have direct access to those people or opportunities or ideas and just to see them in one frame - can make someone’s year.
So, a big THANK YOU. And, will be back next year for all that you curate. Only love and virtual hugs ❤

I am not a film student or someone aspiring to be in the film business. I'm an ordinary 9-5 girlie and still watch every interview and roundtable film companion puts out. Just brings me a lot of joy learning how my favorite art form is curated and listening to the people who make it. I'm sure aspiring students have a lot to gain from these, but just wanna say thanks as a film lover for putting these together. Film journalism is really under-appreciated for what it takes.

Oh my god Anu, how aware you are! Watching you getting curious about films and stories and people making them since... I dunno man, from years before film companion era. Used to read your reviews in that blogpost like site, Tumblr I think. Huge admirer here ma'am! Admiration and love only!
About people not interested to conversations and looking down to roundtables are just pure ignorant ones. It's their loss. You people, so passionate about the craft of filmmaking and stories, committing entirely to what you are doing is so beautiful. If anyone can't see this and is driven by puny ego and looking down to people who are genuinely curious about the process that makes them who they are, it's entirely their loss. So team film companion, please never feel bad for things you are doing. You guys are fighting to establish a culture of civic conversation and so many things. You are on the right side of history people! Actually you are the ones making one! So proud of all of you. Keep at it guys, we are there for you, always.
And Rohini oh my god how passionate you are! Can't even express how amazing you are on that musicians roundtable! When people get to talk about the thing they are genuinely passionate about are is so freaking amazing to watch and listen to. That adda was one of the best experiences from this year. Thank you Rohini.
Didn't know Sneha was behind all them addas, doing hard works to pull the whole damn thing together. So proud of you Sneha! Those tea spilling series are so amazing, please never end that.
Lots and lots and lots of love to the entire film companion team. Keep doing what you guys are doing. Get more curious, stay passionate people. You all are freaking lovely ❤️

I have seen anupama chopra's round table with all directors, who have done some great work this year.... And, being frank I only knew few people like karan, konkana and 2 to 3 more, and i didn't knew anyone else, also because I don't see South cinema but that is what I loved, the diversity of the roundtable, everyone who is deserving and meant to be there on the table were present, also I watched actors roundtable, and I loved that episode too... Really amazing and fabulous... And apart from anupama, I loved rajeev masand 's Netflix roundtable, that was also superbly curated and presented with some amazing talent, totally in awe of both anupama and rajeev... Keep making such episodes and shows it is genuinely good and educating about an industry, no fakeness and drama, simple and real conversations about how someone made their movie, show, their approach, their preference of actors and all.... Also, I want to shout out one thing as anupama said that it should not be seen as tantrum throwing drama for anyone because, if someone is called, that means their work have been validated and applauded.. And also she have mentioned 2019's roundtable that was like too fabulous and astonishing.. Need more roundtables like that.. What is heartbreaking is that when anupama said that now it is not possible to have such big actors together on one table, that is disheartening for someone like me who love movies. Hope for a change for better... Genuine talent is called and people who are really not too big stars and all that means actors are getting praised.. Thank you roundtables, keep making them

Loved all the round tables. Anupama Maam, pls interview Shah Rukh anywhere, be it a round table, or square table, or over the table in his home, or your home or my home.

I loved the Bobby/Tilotama moment too! I've been a huge FC fan since forever. Your content is always 🔥🔥🔥 No matter if its an interview or an adda or a front row etc, I love watching y'all! Thank you to the whole FC team for so much excellent content!!! P.s. my personal favorite was Kareena. She's been a joy to watch!

Anupama is so correct to point out that the superstars wont fall down in status by sitting in the roundtable, no one is too big for the roundtable. Thanks Anu and the FC team for trying to raise the bar for conversation around indian cinema. Wishing more success for 2024 and many more years to come.

Loved FC roundtables... It is true that we discover a lot of good stuff through these like the movies mentioned in Directors' Adda.
Would loooove to watch the crew round tables - Spot boys, editors, ADs, cinematographers, light people.
Not just roundtables but their interviews in general.

I’m so glad that we got this Behind-The-Scenes conversation. It’s disappointing to see in the comments on the Addas how instead of appreciating the guests and the conversation, it’s inevitably about who is not there. It must be so much more frustrating for those who put it together knowing the hoops they had to jump through and the schedules and egos they had to work around.
I was frankly shocked when Anupama dropped the F-bomb but that just goes to show what a difficult process it is. I hope as viewers we just learn to appreciate more the mix of people, genres, and industries, and the clear love of cinema.

Cheers to Sneha. I just cameback to ask, how do you guys process/produce the questions? Do you just make it on the go or you have specific questions ready to ask? What if the conversation moves away from the line of questioning?

Just want to say that yes, your (FC's) roundtables do make a mark, so please keep doing them. They're better curated, and have better conversations because they're more abt. craft than box office/business (although I'd prefer even less talk of numbers).
Anyway, yours are also, in general, more diverse, both in terms of crafts/branches of filmmaking and the people we see in them. The other roundtables may come and go, but if you want to maintain your 'first-mover' advantage, you should keep doing them regardless of how many other channels start doing it.
Side note: I was lucky enough to meet and chat with Stephen Galloway, the pioneer of THR roundtables, at the Telluride Film Festival last year and I asked him abt. his roundtables. Apart from the challenges of logistics and timings that he also mentioned, one thing that he said made it all worth it was when actors/celebrities knew that they really could be themselves and discuss the techniques/craft of their art and not worry abt. answering templated box office/gossipy questions. So, please keep up the good work, and FC's roundtables will over time rise/float to/remain at the top anyway.

Shoutout to Sneha for pulling off herculean tasks of producing well-curated roundtables. Keep up the good work, looking forward to 2024. It would however have been better if there were obituary references, like of Late Satish Kaushik ji's contribution in Indian cinema, this year.
