I enjoy using the drill press of the Bosch Company called PBD 40. It is an attractive product with a circular handle. The bottom plate was made of aluminum, so it looked pretty but it was a little uncomfortable. So I upgraded the PBD 40. The table was enlarged and other equipment could be installed. If you use this drill press, I think it's something to consider at least once. Recently, I continue to focus on upgrading the drill press. In the next video, I'm planning to make a beautiful dust collection equipment using acrylic for this work. Please keep an interested eye on how this product evolves. Thank you.

For a highly-skilled chap with a truly magnificent workshop filled with countless state-of-the-art tools and up-to-date equipment, I couldn't help smiling when I saw that funny little toffee hammer.😊 I also have the Bosch PBD 40 and I love it. The only frustration, for me, is the short distance between the pillar and the drill bit. This limits its use in drilling far into a workpiece.
@alangeorgebarstow lol spin the head 180° to the base. Affix the base to a bench or stand of some sort by lining up the what is technically the back of the base to the very front egde of your stand so that the head hangs well over the edge. Make a table of some sort with the ability to raise and lower (bottle jacks and scissor lifts work great for that type of apparatus but ive seen numerous other creative designs that accomplish the same function). Now you have as much length of travel as the distance from your drill to theoretically the floor and providing you create the stand correctly, once u pass the bottom edge of the stand, the structure of your stand needs not extend as far out as your pillar. In that way you can drill farther into your workpiece as well.
You’ve out done yourself on this one it’s a beautiful design I love the storage area for your replacement plates and those drawer pulls are great. I’m looking forward to part two
Being that you are undoubtedly a woodworking master craftsman and a genius I was more than a little shocked and totally dismayed when I discovered that you are a D-handle guy. And to think I once had the utmost respect for you! What on earth was I thinking?!?!?! Just joking, I still have an immense respect for you and your craft. To each his own. Nonetheless Barrel Grip jigsaws all the way though! Seriously its not too late to step away from the darkside, repent for your D-handle jigsaw sins and join the forces of light by reaching for the far superior barrel grip jigsaw design from this point forward. Your redemption arc will be legendary!

I’ve had this drill for over 2yrs now and it’s been a great bit of kit apart from one of the threads on the locking height handles failing so replaced with a better quality one.
It's been a while since you used it? It seems like a product that has its own pros and cons. I'm still using both of them well, but I think I need to change the drill chuck to a stronger one. thank you

lovely build.. I have this drill press and love it.. I want to make something similar.. I was thinking of making the replaceable plates rectangle that you can slide along.. as it seems a fair bit of effort to cut a plate for it to only be useful once (from a tear out purpose etc)

Cool video. I’m definitely going to steal some of your ideas. Can I ask what are the drawer handles (drawer pulls) I’ve never seen one like that before. I’ve built a plywood kitchen for my house. It has a stainless steel counter flush to the face of the cabinets, so I don’t want the pulleys to extend beyond the face of the cabinets. Those pop out pulls could be just what I’m looking for. Attention ! A 9 minutes, vous ne montez pas correctement la pince dans le collet. Vous devez cliquer la pince dans l'écrou avant de monter l'ensemble (pince dans l'ecrou) dans le porte pince. La pince se verrouille dans l'écrou si vous préférez. Lorsque vous retirez l'ecrou, la pince vient avec. C'est très important, beaucoup font cette erreur. Vous perdez énormément en concentricité et en sécurité. L'écrou est fait pour, c'est à ça que sert la petite lèvre que l'on voit en regardant dans l'ecrou.

Il y a une mince collerette à l'intérieur de l'écrou pour que la pince puisse se clipper dedans. Votre façon de faire écrase le system, provoque du faux rond et est dangereux pour la sécurité.

Very easy to get whatever distance you desire out of any pillar drill with very little modification. The PBD 40 is no exception.

But you've already got a drill press. I thought the purpose of the PBD 40 was to have a portable drill press.
The drill press I mainly use is old, so I often use the PBD40 for precise work. As you said, I can also use it as a portable. Thank you!
