• Decoy Tools? Of course...
I own a pair of these Knipex Electricians shears and I love them. I use them every day. 😊
These are fantastic scissors. I’ve had a pair in most of my bags for several years now. Absolutely love them
are you an electrician?
Love the holster that come with these snips. Used daily for cutting composite cables running low voltage door access wiring. The cable cutting grooves cuts the bulky multi conductor composites neatly and doesn't smash the copper like diagonal cutters.
Thanks, Doc, for another great recommendation and review of a great tool. I didn't know I needed these until just now!🙂
Catching up on my viewing after the trade show yesterday. Very long day, didn't get back until well into the night, and totally worth it. Holy crap! Our offerings definitely stood out. I'll be ordering some new fixtures for my shop tomorrow. Anyway, I wasn't completely aware of this product. Just ordered the scissors. Thanks!
Totally agree Doc, I've got a set to cut down fuel filters. Nice clean cuts with minimal clean up.
I have a couple of pairs of those knipex snips and they're amazing. Amazon had them on sale or price error for $15.55 back in december 2020 so I couldn't resist.
love the shears from Knipex. Great holder and raisorsharp.
Hi
Just bought a pair today.
It has been a long time since I have been so impressed with a tool. They are extremely powerful & sharp.
Amazing really!
Thanks for the review👍
Excellent. Glad to be of help.
Hello again Doc
Thank you for another Great Video. Very nicely done my friend. Those look very good. Again thank you
I live vicariously through you. 💪👍
I'm just really glad I'm not alone in my tool addiction.
I just grabbed a set via your affiliate link.
I've never had a good set of shears and had to change that.
I need to stop buying so many Knipex tools before I go broke 🙂
Love mine, thanks Doc 😎🛠️😎🛠️😎
I have a pair , and they are great ... its that simple.
I have two pairs ! If you want a more budget friendly option , the Wiss W5T shears aren’t half bad ! They also have both 22 and 24 AWG stripping notches . They also have “ grabbing “ inserts between the handles ! They are priced in the 20 buck range . There is also a Stainless iteration of the old classic “ Electrician’s “ scissors are also quite good , and very compact !
I believe these are mainly for cat5e and cat6 cable, the notch is for cutting the cable. I know that is what the Klein and Milwaukee's are for the notches on the top of the blade are for stripping the pairs
I also just bought the angled electrians knipex shears.
i'm in the datacom line of work and been looking to replace my kline tools snips they were some hand-me-downs when I started. These might be the replacements I will get just need to see how well they can cut outdoor rated fiber cable that has the metal jacket.
Ordered two pair from Chad's. One for garage, and one for vehicle road bag.
Good lookin' shears!
Great review.
I am a bit surprised that you included neither the Engineer (brand) nor Sterling Black Panther Industrial snips within your comparison. Both are, relatively speaking, modern classics.
Great video
Actually the Vampliers are actually rebranded Engineer PH-55 and is rated to cut 1.6mm copper wire or 9mm cabtire wire.
The 95 05 155 looks like more for cable striping such as coax rg214 cable and that because of the handle comparing to the 95 05 10.
I love the pair I have too, but the sheath’s belt clip bent out of shape after one use and now I can’t clip the shears anywhere without risking the sheath dislodging on its own.
very good 🛠🛠🛠
Blades of that Knipex shears have one of the best design, but in the field i prefer model number 95 05 10 SB for its simetrical hands. It is more quickly in working routine.
You should try "Olfa SCS 1". Japan made, top quality blades.
The blades aren't long enough for what I do (bicycle mechanics). I bought the Engineer/Vamplier ones, and they are as sharp (sharpenable; good steel) as the Knipex, and are great for trimming handlebar tape to a taper to finish it off neatly.
Used to be network tech and I have several of those, and really like the Engineer PH-55 and the Klein Snips. I no longer need to cut heavy cable, but getting into solar, so might grab a set of those Knipex.
The Engineer look identical to the Vampliers shown in this video, but in a different color
" Don't run with decoy scissors " - Grandma.
Awesome. I picked up the 95 05 10 SB today
Nice. The 95 05 10 SB is even better!
@@lastbesttool hi Doc, why the 95 05 10 SB is better? And what do you think about the VT-3909 eSHEARS - ALL-IN-ONE ELECTRICIAN’S SCISSORS from Vampiretools comparing to the Knipex shears?
Doc surprised you never got the Vampliers E-Shears(VT-3909) to compare to the Knipex?
-I run those daily for controls work, had them for almost 6 months and now they only slightly miss cutting the outer insulation pull string every once in a while. But been cutting up to #12 solid to #18/8c. Sometimes use the crimper on the end. The wire stripping notch is almost left-handed not a fan. I still think there holding up amazingly.
-Gonna get these ones next
I don't have a pair of those. The only ones I have at hand are the VamPLIERS VT-011 Super Combo Scissors and they are a somewhat different animal then the Knipex. Very nice, however. ruclips.net/video/p2-ZrIbcH3s/видео.html
Doc have you tried or seen the Leatherman raptors? Different than electricians but still I like the fold up option
ruclips.net/video/HUNkzbDz9rw/видео.html
Those are my goto scissors in the shop
How do they compare to the c.jets
You just made me impulse buy. I know I won't regret it though - don't regret splurging on any other knipex.
how do these work for opening plastic clamshell and blister packs? looking for something to slice like butter through pesky plastic packaging.
They are ok. The cable cut out near the base hangs up unless you completely close the shears. The short blade really work great and the leverage is awesome, but in some cases, they are hard to navigate around deeper shapes. For trimming edges they work fine, but I usually grab my Milwaukees.
Be careful....I cut a little stem on a small artificial flower with a very small gauge steel wire in plastic covered stem with these scissors and it gouged the tender stainless scissor blades.Knipex item 95 05 155.
Are these good for cutting open the clear plastic bubble type packaging? I'd like something a bit more robust than my regular Fiskars scissors for that.
These are my favorite for when I don't use a utility knife. www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-Jobsite-Offset-Precision-Scissors-48-22-4047/319919548
Oh, and in answer to your question, no, the cable cutting cutout in the blade snags on the plastic.
They’re terrible as regular scissors, but they’ll cut through a 64 wire shielded bundle like nothing, absolutely love mine. Would but again and again
3:46 did Doc turn into a cat for a second???
I think they strip the cable too by rotating around the sheathing for conductor termination .. why only cutting?
The Best. We can't keep them on the shelves!
How do the Knipex stack up against the Japanese turquoise and black c-jet snips?
I'll compare them. I didn't have the CJets handy when I made the video. I think the CJets might cut better due to the angle of the handle. I think it is better leverage or at least more natural.
@@lastbesttool thanks man, I have the straight c-jets and they cut great but never compared them. If you are looking for recommendations, I really like the Knipex Automatic Wire Strippers 12 62 180 or their other self-adjusting strippers. You might never go back to regular strippers! One handed, quick and no need to pull on the wire.
Some urban bugout/shtf channels recommend shears to cut chain link. Would these work for that purpose?
Hard no. Maybe one link but then they would be dull and your hands would ache. Get these instead: ruclips.net/video/_qd27kb-5QA/видео.html
These are actually made by an italian company. Unfortunately I don't remember the name. But they're practically only labeled Knipex.
Probably Ausonia No.16288
To be fair, the Knipex was brand new and likely razor-sharp from the factory, whilst the rest had lots of wear. Perhaps resharpen both after some time and redo. Nice review nonetheless.
Thanks John. In all my nearly 450 videos, you were the first to point out wear on my tools. Normally I get accused of never using anything because they look so clean in the video. So thanks. And the Milwaukee's were not that sharp from the get go. The Knipex are in a whole other class compared to the Kleins and Milwaukees.
this knipex shears cost about half a minimum wage in Brazil.
They are obviously for whatever you want them to be for but the reason they are “electrician’s shears” is because of the type of wiring they do in Europe. They use cable that resembles our SO cable (extension cord) for residential wiring rather than our Romex.
Indeed here in Italy we have a very different wiring sistem, for example it's mandatory to put wires and cables inside conduits even if you are routing a double insulated cable behind some drywall
Sorry for the bad English 😅
@@michelechiavon546 I have some experience with British style wiring from working in Iraq. I liked the British Standard. It was much simpler than the US National Electrical Code. The US code is a nightmare. I am curious what the Italian code is like. Do a lot of countries in Europe share a code or do they all have their own? I always like to learn how other people do things.
@@michelechiavon546 I think your English is very good. Much better than my Italian. 🙂
Decoy tools😆Sure ...

Nobodys borrowing my tools anymore"
Snap on box is jokes
If they cost more than $50. they’re overglorified and simply not worth it. Many other brands have good scissors/shears.
The milwaukee snips are garbage. I bought a set today and returned them before leaving the parking lot. They look to be MIM vs. Forged and the blade had a flat spot where it was dull.
Decoy tools haha
ruclips.net/video/8dUohG9Dvy8/видео.html
Knips are just small scissors. They are not as good as claimed. The torque of the fingers is large. C.JET tools are much better.
I know I failed English in high school but isn't a K next to N silent? Knee knowledge know all silent Ks so shouldn't Knipex be pronounced Nipex not Kinipex?
German brand, so the K is pronounced.
Decoy 'loaner tools' 🤣
do you pronounce K-nife and fork ......or..... nife and fork? you pronounce this brand nipex .
ruclips.net/video/Jg38fvLR6-k/видео.html
The brand is German, so the K is pronounced.
Don't believe in decoy tools as I would not like to be on the receiving end. Better to just to say I don't lend out my tools, but I'm willing to lend any tool I have to my neighbors because that what good neighbors do.
NIPEX. .....you say the K like you do in KNOT , KNIT , KNIFE , .......sheesh . I was a rep for Knipex for 8 years . Its NIPEX .
...thaaat's NOT what Knipex is saying of late ...
It is german, not english, so you pronounce the k
vampliers better
Do you also say KA-NIFE 😅 Its Pronounced nipex just like knife. 😂

The blades are decent , but the handles are Horrible..!!Made by "Fumasi" Italy average quality scissors... , beaten by Taiwanese ones..👍🌟
Look up BETA 1128BAX or 1129FXS
They would beat the knipex's I rekcon
Those BETA 1128BAX look interesting. What's with the guards at the north end of the grip?
