I have the exact same model for about 2 years (there is also a slightly bigger model). They are compact, lightweight, affordable and work great for simple tasks like you showed in this video.

Those Knipex shears look very similar to a pair of Wiss G-21 shears I've had around forever, which are very handy.

Those Knipex look great for pruning tomatoes. The serrations might be harder to keep clean, but otherwise they look perfect.

Fiskars lineup can't really be improved, Arthritis foundation design input, rubberised grips, Sandvik steel and replaceable parts. Surprised you've not pitched them up here.

A year ago I was looking at these types of shears, was between Felco and ARS and went for the ARS, a Japanese brand that had amazing reviews. But when I got them I realised they had stopped making them in Japan, mine being made in Vietnam I believe. I sent them back since the similarly priced Felcos were made in Italy, but I never ended up getting them 🤷‍♂️

That wiss is strong, I cut steam hose with a pair of those. Well, 90% of a steam hose. A guy brought me a hacksaw by that point. Still impressive.

Hey Doc, you should also check out NWS combination scissors; spring loaded w/ adjustable pivot. Think you'll like them.

    • @adjutant

The NWS combination scissors have a nice soft and grippy comfort handle and are actually made in Germany. I'm surprised to see that Knipex version cost more for seemingly less. If Knipex made a more upscale version of these little guys with the multi-grip handle and made in Germany, that would be in keeping with the quality of Knipex's other shears. Really though, I think we just need to give NWS some more love!

@@adjutant I totally agree. I'm still a fan of Kippex and like all the stuff I have. But some other German companies like NWS and Witte kinda get lost in the crowd. And Witte rebrands for a bunch of different companies like Matco, etc.

Hi there, the Stihl ones look heavily inspired by the Felco Pruners, they have a different kind of spring that doesn’t snag. Have you tried those? I know you love Swiss tools, so you might wanna look into those, if you haven’t

Are these similar to the Felco 310 ? I have the Felco 310, would it be ok to cut plastic with it since it seems to be a twin of the knipex and probably made in the same factory in Italy ?

Hola. La primer tijera Knipex viene en blíster o suelta?. Porque compré una y vino solo con la envoltura del correo. La uso para telas gruesas y cueros, una maravilla.

I was really dissapointed with the vampliers small scissors. I bought them for cutting para cord and for small “tool” brand scissors I was shocked when the scissors bent trying to cut the cord. Their pliers are good but damn those scissors suck

There’s talk of Germany “de-industrializing” thanks to the energy crisis (which isn’t going away, now that we’ve destroyed their gas pipeline). Do you think Knipex might stop production in Germany? Or are they specialized enough to not really be affected? (Hopefully the latter!)

I could not identify if that knipex uses its handle as a balde opener limiter.
If it is the case, that’s a horrible design, because it will break overtime.
