  • G’day and welcome to the Snowys Camping Show!
    So, what's our show all about? We're here to talk through everything that you, our listeners, want to hear. We want to help you get the most out of your outdoor adventures.
    Whether it's imparting some of the knowledge we've gained from years of experience in the industry and sharing the tips and tricks we've gathered along the way. Or spilling the beans on the amazing places we've seen and the adventures we've gone on. There'll be DIY's & how-to's, plus new product launches and interviews with experts in the field. All the things that excite us and make us love coming to work each day.
    Hosting the show are two members of our Snowys fam - Ben, who describes himself as a participator of most things outdoors but master of none that loves escaping the crowds in his Patrol, and our gear expert Lauren, who has been camping before she could walk, and is just about to embark on an exciting van build project to explore Australia.
    We'll kick off the show by covering some of the most popular topics and answering our most frequently asked questions. But we also want you, our community, to jump in the deep end with us and share all your camping curiosities.
    So, let's get the conversation rolling over on our Facebook group, the Snowys Camping Show which you can check out here: / snowys

    Oh hell yeah!!! This is exactly what's been missing from my life!!! I love a good +30min podcast, hopefully this will grow into something big!! Geeze, there really is so much to be covered off in a weekly/fortnightly podcast, from gear, to trip reports, to interviews with other industry experts, to types of camping (bush vs beach, paid vs free), camping for day trips/wknd/big tours, camping on a budget, sharing content like photos and videos of viewers out on their adventures and hopefully some competitions with Snowy gift vouchers as a prize. So excited, great job!!

    Id like to get both your thoughts about the future of Australian manufacturing within the camping/hiking and touring sector, seems like a lot of the market has gone overseas to compete but I’d personally like to support Aussie manufacturing and Aussie jobs as much as I can. How long will it be around for before it’s all outsourced internationally. Cheers callum

      This is a big topic, Callum, and probably a little political for what we want to discuss on this show.
      There is a focus on Australian Made now though, Blacksmith Camping supplies for example have started making canvas products in Adelaide in the last few years, Ottie Merino have their Australian merino t-shirts manufactures in Melbourne, and Aussie Outback Supplies have seen an uptick in business since Covid, and they make a host of canvas gear including swags in Perth and have been doing so for many years.
      We have a bit of info here - www.snowys.com.au/australian-made-camping-outdoor-gear, but we've not likely got enough expertise to comment for all product types on the in's and outs of the challenges of manufacturing in Australia sorry.

    You guys are great 👍. Can you cook with gas BBQS when a total fire band.

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for the kind words, Brad.
      Regarding gas fires, as a general rule, total fire ban means no fires, including gas.
      it would be worth checking with the national park that you are staying in as national parks often have their own guidelines.
      Check out this info for example from the National Parks Service here in SA - www.parks.sa.gov.au/know-before-you-go/fires-and-bbqs, other states and territories are likely to have similar information listed.
