Me toooooooooo omg I was in loooove with howard, but this is breaking my heart. Even my parents a lil skeptical. Now spelman got me in my feelings, but ion know. Every HBCU has their problems. :S
yo for the tuition to be 30-4000 this should’ve been handled way better. The man who was supposed to be answering questions was mad rude and and how do you neglect to house more than half of the campus population.
woah i literally just type in “Howard university housing issue” apparently this occurs all of the time and i heard administration is completely irrational, unhelpful, and rude. This kind of discouraged me and i don’t even know if i wanna go that bad if this always gonna be a problem.
The parents of these kids should be stormin' the halls at HU! What kind of safety net do they have when the leave their homes to come to HU? This is unacceptable!
This channel is the realest youtube channel I've seen in a minute. Push this and continue with it and it could be on a mainstream level for sure. The authenticity and aesthetic of it is dope. And I hope you all have housing who are apart of this channel
Here's a hint for those of you who are looking for housing: since Howard doesn't have it's act together, go to other colleges/universities nearby and check out *their* off campus listings. That's what I did. Sometimes they require student ID, sometimes they don't. YMMV.
So, let me get this straight... They waited until classes started to tell students they don’t have housing? So, people moved across the country (out of state), signed up for on-campus housing, were told they had housing, now they have no where to go?!
It’s a shame how much it costs to go to Howard.. I will be attending Howard this Fall 2018, but it’s bothering me that we have to pay so much, to get disrespected by not having any housing, or horrible communication dealing with admissions office. I LOVE the university itself, but these reindeer games their playing are ridiculous
Jordan Brooks why are you going to Howard when you see what they’re doing to student? They’re misleading AND stealing from yahll. If they continue to steal and/or mislead you you can’t complain because you already knew what they were doing BEFORE you enrolled there.
YoungBonnet TheSavage I get your point, but Actually, I did not know about all that was really going on before I enrolled, so you shouldn’t just assume I knew..And I’m not going to attend here anymore. I’m going to Bowie State University.
Wooowww I'm so disappointed in Howard. I'll be attending Virginia State University but my best friend really wanted to go to Howard. This is crazy!! Y'all are paying all this money and they're just playing with your education. And no college student has money to be paying for an apartment in DC.
I’m glad All in All post these issues at Howard. Of course everything won’t be peaches and cream but I use to think Howard was damn near the best of the best so thank y’all for hitting me with reality
That's actually not fighting the power though. If you paid tuition which included room and board that is exactly what you should receive, not a tent. Either that or refund students the housing fee.
My daughter is going to the 11th grade this year. I have been researching schools that have housing shortages so I can cross them off her list of schools. There is no way I'm going to send my kid to a school that has a shortage of housing. This is ridiculous.
Howard alumni STEP UP!! Your beloved HU is in a crisis!! Administration these students put their trust, faith, and belief by buying into your brand. Give them the quality they deserve.
Howard university is very expensive. No student shouldn't have to go through this. My niece has three years left in high school, Howard would not be on her list. Administration is very unprofessional. Students from Howard should report this to dept of education and international news
This not unlike problems at other universities, but it's clear that Howard U had been somewhat of a powder keg as far as student/administration relations. Much love to the students who have the gumption and courage to confront student issues on their campus. I wish nothing but the best for the Howard family.
I went to a PWI and we had housing shortages. However, this usually only happed to freshman the were on the wait list for housing or upperclassmen that didn't sign up for housing at the the end of the Spring semester the previous year. My sophomore year, I recall students living on the 25th floor in barracks style housing for a few weeks.
This is a problem that I have heard for years concerning not only Howard but several other HBCU's. I struggled with the decision of sending my son's to HBCU's and this was one of many issues I struggled with after researching Universities. No one talks about this. I wanted my son's to attend but decided not to and it hurt me to make that decision.
Went to nccu for undergrad. (Hbcu in NC) they had this unspoken rule if you a junior/senior more than likely you are not getting housing unless it's the summer. You HAVE to live off campus.
Sad... as mentioned, some are not old enough to even rent an apartment. At a different HBCU I came back from break and was told that no more rooms were available. With my luggage on the field that day, I decided to move off campus across the street. Being off campus you are not "in-the-know" as much but I NEVER looked back and didn't regret my decision. It did have its advantages over dorm accomodations. I was in a lease so I paid for months when I was out of school but I had a place to come back to. Fortunately, I was old enough to rent. Otherwise, my HBCU experience was great.
Many of these HBCU's charge a "arm and a leg and a couple of toes" for tuition/room and board. We know that BLACK students DO have a comfort zone of sorts at HBCU's, yet it is very difficult for the DESERVING student that can't afford an HBCU to attend. All students do not qualify for scholarships, and some of these HBCU's will not help or work with them.
Wow not having enough space is a thing ? I thought they choose a certain amount of students for each dorm and if they decide not to come they'll give it to another student.
Ok that administrator sounded ignorant. Howard is an HBCU. That means black people. That means lower income people who will not be able to afford off campus housing. Especially in the DC metro area. Get it together and be professional. Student housing should be the top priority.
this is why i never bought into the whole "get an education" malarkey. i see zero examples of where an "education" made someone's life better who come from where i come from.
It appears the funny looking ones don't have room and board I see!!!!! Anyway Howard misappropriation of Financial is gonna give Howard University a bad name
I lived 30 min from school as a freshman. These guys can't find off campus housing? Pathetic. 2 min on the internet and I found several places for under $300/bed within 30mi of Howard. These babies can't go through life without an adult holding their hand. My alma mater only housed 20% of the students if that. Howard houses more than that. What are these students complaining about? That guy with the scholarship was mishandled. He should have been given guaranteed housing. Incompetency at Howard. Is this one of the best HBCU there is? Sad
Don Bags i guess you didn't hear that some of the students are/were minors from out of state, just didn't have $$$ for off campus hsg. a/o were preapproved for hsg. that mayhave existed before Howard trustees sold off at least 2 dorm residences to make way for private hsg catering to a gentrification progrom.
The places I looked up were cheaper than off campus housing. $300 or less a month if you share a room. That's much cheaper than all of the housing offered on campus, which ranged from $4,800-$10,000 a year. The $4,800 was for a triple. $3,600 for a double off campus is a bargain. Look...I get that Howard screwed up big time. But some of the melodramatic rhetoric these students are spewing is mostly for pity.
Also alot of these freshmen arent old enough to by housing probably dont have credit card yet or anything alot of ppl go to college at 16 and 17. I'm still confused on how this could happen or rather how this has been happening and no real coverage in media has occured
For Howard tuition to be as high as it is.... THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE
This is appalling. This once was my dream HBCU, but I don’t know right now...this is swaying my choice.
Me toooooooooo omg I was in loooove with howard, but this is breaking my heart. Even my parents a lil skeptical. Now spelman got me in my feelings, but ion know. Every HBCU has their problems. :S
Same I enter my senior year this fall and I was gonna apply early action but I’m scared
Me too
S A N A A HONESTLY how I feel right about now
This is my Dream school but they got wayyy Too much going on for me
Same I was looking at Howard for grad school and I have to look elsewhere now because I can't believe this is how they treat their students.
yo for the tuition to be 30-4000 this should’ve been handled way better. The man who was supposed to be answering questions was mad rude and and how do you neglect to house more than half of the campus population.
BlackXScripts EXACTLYYY.. it’s a shame how they treat these students
Why can’t they at least try to build some new dorms or apartments
Greg Pugh.. Right ! All this money going towards the school, they should have been on that by now 😣
Greg Pugh they just finished two new dorms like a few years ago but they’ve also been selling property as well
@@gregpugh5354 There’s so many condemned properties on the campus. It’s hella weird.

Jordan Brooks this isn’t just a Howard issue so don’t let this one thing discourage you from going to your dream school.
@@chigasaki06 We never had these issues at Tennessee state university or Jackson State university 🤔. And we had 11k students at JSU....😎🙂

It seems its a requirement as all the residential halls are unavailable. Now tell me what college student can afford a 1.4K apartment?

Stay prayed up y’all. I did t realize Howard was going through all this madness
Set up a tent city on the campus..fight the power!
that is high key a really good idea. HU students take notes.
Protest and get the media to cover it!

As a current Howard University student this is the uncut truth. There are some truly amazing aspects of our HBCU but there are dark truths at work
this video came out 3 years ago and here are in 2021 and now students are protesting. Clearly nothing has changed at HU.
Looks like their issues with housing have been going on a long time.
Especially when on-campus housing isn’t available for the coming year
I applied and now I’m scared... what the heak is going on!

0:27 homegirl went off
Housing was a problem 30 years ago. How come Howard hasn't solved this problem?
This is crazy. My daughter transferring next month and I'm terrified. HU cost too much for this BS! And she chose Howard over Spelman. Smh
This is HORRIBLE and RIDICULOUS . The absolute dismissal of the staff pisses me off

New Orleans never pulled stunts like this at none of they're university at all we have the best university colleges
2:37 I met him at so many events for incoming freshman they messed up on trying to help people who help the school
This aged very well
This is absolutely absurd!! For the money people pay;
You can't house 80 percent of their students?!
They spend way too much on freshman housing to attract new students but leave them with no one where to go after that.
Wow not having enough space is a thing ? I thought they choose a certain amount of students for each dorm and if they decide not to come they'll give it to another student.
why are black universities so messed up?
Mischa Yuromishi funding
HBCUs don't get as much funding as PWIs.
This is why kids stay in California!!!
@@brianamarshall6589 hu's annual tuition is higher than most pwi's, that should be enough for the campus to decent at best
I be trying to root for My HBCUs but they need to get it together this right here has nothing to do with funding this happens with a lot
Of HBCUs

Crazy how 2 years later and this is still an issue lol
Several kids went back home because of housing at Howard. Stop recruiting kids if you dont have housing.....
I felt that girl when she said she paid too much money to be going through this fr
I just hope the truth comes out, for real.
All in All, you guys are getting to be like Vice News! This was well done!
Did they give them hotels for the year? Virginia Tech had this same problem and acc helped them so sad
They took too long to confirm the scholarship amount for my God sister and she ended up going to Tampa University. Thank God bc this is ridiculous.
They sold most of the dorms.
Oh hell no this is just appalling
So not applying to Howard
howard has been applied to but will not be chosen
I feel bad for the students but this isn't necessarily the schools fault. HBCUs don't get as much funding as PWIs.
PWI’s are heavily funded by the alumni.
Oh they HAVE funding! They're not allocating it properly!
Now i’m scared to go to an out of state college 😒
HU is a mess. 45,000 a year for this shit. I think they should transfer
wow Howard wtf Im telling my mom.
Why is she being so disrespectful to him ,like he’s try to tell you let him talk
RIP McDougle
These students need to transfer to a cheaper college or university.
Ridiculous
Howard University is in a lot of hot water
Wow I really wanted to go to Howard med school buuuuttt never mind smh
Just go to another school !!!!!!!!!!1111
Damm shame and embarrassing!! This is exactly why I did not send my daughter to a HBCU College!! Dysfunctional Period...
