Hey there, I sent this collection to Vinny! Just wanted to say a few things:
-I forgot the M&M's game started with boring car segments, so I was expecting him to get to the "blatant Crash Bandicoot ripoff" levels sooner...
Which are more interesting (but still bad)
-Toy Story Racer was included as exactly what Vinny said - a Bonus game. It wasn't supposed to be part of the Shovelware collection per say, I just
included it in case people wanted to see an actually decent game for once.
-LEGO Island 2 was included for being a bad port of the PC version (which is not that great to begin with), at least on the graphics side. But the unexpected audio glitch
(which I've never encountered before, so might be an emulator thing) made everything worth it. I included a link to a video showing a "quality" cutscene
in the folder as well, but I guess Vinny didn't see it... (if you want to see it for yourself just look up "lego island 2 quality cutscene")
-There is an actual "A Bug's Life" game on PS1 and other consoles that is an actually pretty decent 3D platformer.
-SpongeBob SuperSponge has a GBA port, the PS1 version came first. The GBA version has worse soundtrack but (as far as I remember) better gameplay,
while this version, the opposite...
-The reason as for why the Bob the Builder game is so bad is that it is a cheap PC game ported to the PS1 (the game wasn't meant for the PS1 at all)
It's still not that great for a retail game, though.

Lu9 I had the PC version and for whatever reason it had a different voice cast. I assume the UK and US versions had different casts and the version I had was the US cast (it was consistent with the VHS tapes we had and the voices didn't have accents, though the voice of Wendy, Lorelei King is apparently British.)
AFAIR the hide and seek game was significantly more complex and actually fun. Then again I was like 8.
I had the Bug's Life activity center too and ok I remember it not being that good, but I learned what a thimble was and now have "WHO'S GOT THE BUTTON? YOU'VE GOT THE BUTTON" burned into my subconscious.
I included the UK dub version of the Bob the Builder game because it was the version I played as a kid... on PC though. Somehow the PS1 port has MUCH less lines and less games even.
Also the Windows 95 startup sound is present in the game's files for some reason.

Fun fact about that Rugrats in Paris game: in the N64 version, if you play as Tommy, he has no voice clips in the overworld for some reason. Arguably, this oversight was an improvement.
You may as well have called this: ‘Shovelware Showcase: The Bab PS1 Super Ultimate Mega Mambo-Foxtrot Martial Arts 74th Revised Edition Special Crystal Version’.

Vinny, you shouldn't be self-conscious of thinking the Lego Island 2 audio glitch was funny. It WAS, and I laughed at it quite a bit. It's unexpected. You have no idea what the people are going to say when it's all garbled and messed up. So laugh, it's okay!

Back when the Spongebob game came out I played the demo at a Target. I was like 6. After half and hour by myself, as my parents took the chance to shop while I was distracted. I needed to pee and couldn't find my parents so I pissed myself. To this day my dad makes fun of me for peeing myself in public. And I still remember that damn treehouse level. For reference I'm 22. That fucking level has haunted me for 16 years.
Actually some good development went into that Rugrats game. I say that because it has wide open areas with no fog or pop up, and on the PS1 that took some doing to achieve that.

Had no idea that Bob the Builder was an English show until I was older. If I remember correctly I think they gave the the show an
**eagle call** American **explosion** dub for people who lived over here, sort of like when they brought in Alec Baldwin to narrate a season or two of Thomas the Tank Engine. Kind of makes sense when you consider that they’re building a lot of stuff so they’d have to change Meters to Freedom Penis Measurement Units **shotgun blast** and things like that.

I LOVE Shovelware Showcase so much, it's an amazing series and every time I see the update for it on RUclips I gotta pull up some good food and recline and prepare for a good afternoon.
Oh my god, I had the Bob the Builder, Bug's Life, AND the Spongebob games as a bab. This was a surreal stream for me.

Rugrats in Paris: The Movie brought back bitter memories of me playing that game when I was young. It was an odd experience, seeing the familiar overworld, only to have the memories of me up late at night playing it, thinking it was GOOD, come flooding back. I would like to go slap that younger me for giving me this nostalgia that I don't want for it.

I was hoping someone would mention the stuff found in a prerelease version of SuperSponge. The most notable are three drawings; two are straight up porn of Spongebob characters, and the third is Spongebob dressed up like a dominatrix. Additionally, there are a couple interesting filenames. Slag waggon.gif, old bastard.psd, and old bitch.psd. All of these are unused, though.

Man, I used to play that Spongebob game a lot as a kid! Looking back, this game wasn't that...great. Or...good. (But the soundtrack is actually pretty decent).

At least it wasn't the first. I still have the original cd I had since I was little, and still have it installed. (And it still runs perfectly with a little bit of tweaking and compatibility mode). Seriously my childhood, I loved it to bits.
I liked the first game more, but LI2 was undeniably really popular.

YES. I fucking _hate_ when people excuse bad family/children's entertainment by saying "it doesn't matter, it's for kids." It DOES matter and you're an asshole if you think it doesn't. Kids deserve better than subpar lazy garbage. If you give them something of higher quality, 90% of them will enjoy it WAY more than crap like that Bob the Builder game. There's a reason most of the most successful kids' properties are ones that adults are able to enjoy as well.

What the fuck, Stuart Little 2 and Toy Story Racer aren't shovelware at all!
Not sure if sarcasm, that Stuart Little game was actually really good but he skipped the starting cutscenes and didn't go far enough to see the rest of them and realize that it had an actually engaging plot, more so when you consider it was made for kids like 5-10. Honestly for me it was just as good as fucking Spyro but oh well.
Every Spongebob game he plays brings us inches closer to seeing him play Battle for Bikini Bottom. or at the very least, the shitty GBA counterpart.

You may feel bad that Spongebob appears in some really bad games, but have you tried SpongeBob the Movie Game and/or Battle for Bikini Bottom? Those are legitimately amazing game. I also recall a DS Doodlebob game that was also really good from my very early child.

I think the problem with a lot of these games is that they're being streamed from the disc much like a lot of the PS2 GTA games were. It was a fairly clever work around that allowed people to do more with less

Objectively, SuperSponge is great. I remember playing it many times, and beating it. I still play it to this day. Also, Lego Island 2 shouldn't be anywhere near this list.
