I love how there was one guy in the audience who got the Starkiller joke
explain pls!
The last name of Luke was originally Starkiller in the first drafts of A New Hope
Ikr. I love that guy
It's been 40 years and the power converter are still in tosche station
Apparently they have a stable power converter business
Not today! Mark Hamill got them!!!
After decades, he's got them!
twitter.com/HamillHimself/status/1343669303103479809/photo/1
The "Starkiller" easter egg was awesome
"I'm not into Sci fi"
"It's not fi, it actually happened!"
"Sy Fy" these days. :-P
Only a long time ago
In a galaxy far away
The amount of stalling Mark had to do for the audience to stop cheering was hilarious hahaha
“Excuse me. Excuse me” I think he was actually talking to the audience
+Leonida Triasylo mi
+Leonida Triasylo b
Its because the guy could hardly breathe...
isnt that normal in theatre to delay so most can hear, or are audiences civil for most plays
That was the best obi wan impersonation I've heard.
fourbypete I thought his Luke impression from the original series was probably the best I’ve heard
Well actually Luke didn't blow up the Death Star twice, the second time he was fighting Vader while Lando blew it up in the Falcon...
it was a team effort
And as always Wedge Antilles!
I literally just said that in my head lmao
Dammit the audience got like none of these jokes.
I myself don't associate with filthy casuals.
That one guy that got the starkiller joke.
"Always shoot first."
*crickets*
Those are people going out and having social lives... Hardly the SW crowd
maybe they "got it", and maybe its just NOT funny
5:50 YESSSSS finally someone acknowledged that parsecs is DISTANCE NOT TIME
Science wins
Shawn it is in this galaxy.
yes but i thought the kessel run was about choosing the shortest route possible since it is quite dangerous, so 12 parsecs work just fine.. but ofc that might have been added later on..
Solo was just throwing fancy words around, trying to con some desert planet hicks. It's the reason why Obi Wan in that scene has this look like "are you fucking kidding me right now?"
It's like we're watching all of Stephen's dreams come true.
Man Randy sure gets around, last I saw him he was giving Ripley lip before a xenomorph burst out.
it's just his brother, it's confusing because they all are named Randy
Love the Na-Nu Na-Nu. Robin Williams hello on Mork and Mindy. And with Spock's Live long and prosper, hand signal. So cool.
Tammy Joyce Woodring Nope. Stephen did the Vulcan Salute wrong. Look it up. That "hand signal" actually meant nothing in particular.
To me it's the same. Just because I didn't call it the salute and couldn't remember that doesn't mean I'm wrong. I've seen him do that and say, Live long and prosper. Look it up. ☺
Mr. Skywalker, I'm afraid to inform you DID NOT blow the Death Star twice.
No he DID NOT in fact blow up the Death Star twice. I'm glad you're here to tell us these things!
Prove it. It's been decades between his appearances. How many Death Stars might have been built? You really think they only build one of anything? I mean, this is a modern (ish) technologically sophisticated society. Those things gotta be pushed out 2 or 3 at a time. Maybe there's dozens of heroes that all had to destroy one, and Luke got 2, but because he'd already done it once, they didn't make the second movie. Too derivative.
I think you're getting it mixed up with the Darksaber the Hutts built and the Sun Crusher that Kyp Durron stole.
I've read a lot of Wookiepedia and a few books. My favorite were Timothy Zahn's books. I mostly liked Episode VII (in either continuity I don't like the 'Han and Leia's dark side kid' concept though), especially enjoyed Finn, and I'm still planning to see VIII.
Holy crap, some of these references are super esoteric.
"And I haven't had a drink in 12 parsecs!"
"That's not a unit of time."
Mark is such a great voice actor, his Alec Guinness, James Earl Jones, and Harrison Ford impressions are so spot-on.
You will let me into the cantina,... Nooooo I wont,.. lmao!
Did anyone get that? It was a nod to PM when Qui Quon tried to Mind trick Watto. Lol
Colbert's character must have been good friends with Watto... Lol.
Connie E. ... Or even Jabba and General Grievous...
Lmao the “shoot first” joke
Colbert should get the chance to be a Star Wars extra.
I'm showing my appreciation for Colbert covering the Cantina Band's awesome song! Way to go, man!!
It's great seeing Luke in his moisture farmer outfit decades later acting like his 19 year old self 😂😂
haha! Luke making fun of the prequels!
lmfao the prequels sucks
Solid Alec Guinness impression, and the "power converters" whine was great, but the please subscribe joke at the end was still the only place I lol'd. Greattttt!
Looks like Mark Hamill had more fun filming this then The Last Jedi. Look how much he is enjoying himself ;)
Luke goes to the dark side in the next one. Confirmed.
Vanilla yeah I have seen it too.
"Jar Jar Binks?! Now that one's gotta be a mistake!" Also that Luke Starkiller part was 👌
This clip would have killed it at Comic-Con
Reminds me a bit of his appearance on the Muppet Show back in the day. 💕
Hamill's Obi-Wan impression was almost imperceptible but really good.
Great video Stephen
what'd he do to you
"Space western".... That'll never work.
Where's a reaver raiding party when you need one.
All I hear is the Joker talking
you are a travesty. He's Luke. Hes always Luke.
Kinda felt like he was inadvertently slipping into his Joker voice a few times.
Love this! Was in the audience when they filmed this! Was hella cool to watch it live!
04:43 Did anyone else catch that Luke Skywalker whispers with a Vulcan's "Live Long and Prosper" salute?
#nerdcrossover
Dark Side Cantina:
"Sith Welcome"
"Beer" (With the letters backwards for some reason)
Was really hoping they hid something in that but oh well...
Lmfao Mark is great
Mark Hamill made fun of Grievous' name. Hot damn I love you Mark.
Great job singing, son of the regional manager of Raymour & Flanigan’s!
Lando Calrissian blew up the second death star.
Why is Mark using his Joker voice when pulling the Jedi mind trick?
Because he's referring to his younger self in A New Hope.
it was an Alec Guinness impression.
The funniest part of the sketch is when i finally noticed his nose was fake...couldn't tell the difference the whole time.
That ending! Is Mark alluding to Luke's transition to the Dark Side in the Last Jedi?
Ebi Tahassoni glad I combed
Randy, I find your lack of faith disturbing.
who else wants Randy to be part of the Star Wars canon?
he's the jedi master, also masters the humor lol
‘Member Tatooine?
but we do know what Luke was doing in the 30 year gap. he reopened the Jedi Academy, the Second Galactic Civil War happened. and the Yuuzhan Vong War also happened.
That is REAL canon, DISNEY!
“I’m not really into Sci-Fi.” Sure you’re not speaking for the audience?
For the first time in 2 years...
A late night video isn’t political and actually worth watching.
Let’s keep it that way politics is just bs and unentertaining.
"Try the fried porg!" NOOOOOOOOOOO
Can't handle all the inside jokes xD
3:44 For shame, Luke! What about Wedge?!
So many continuity errors it hurts! Darth Vader and the First Order were like 30 years apart!
'Mr. Spacejogger" xD
I'm curious if Stephen has read the comics. There's some interesting stuff there, like [if you're particularly sensitive about spoilers, or somehow don't know the main twists of the films, don't click 'read more', but these are all broad strokes that you should be fine seeing.]
* Palpatine's potential replacements for Vader, such as a Mon Calamari General Grievous (Mon Calamari being the species of Fleet Admiral Gial "It's a Trap" Ackbar)
* Luke's first hand-to-hand battle with Vader
* Han Solo's wife (sort of)
* Han and Luke herding nerfs.
* The exact moment that Vader figures out Luke is his son (it involves Boba Fett and Evil Chewbacca, too)
* Dr. Aphra, AKA Lady Evil Space-Indiana Jones
* An evil C-3PO that likes torturing people
“Jar Jar Binks? Now that ones gotta be a mistake” This man is a legend.
Ewoks were worse. Much worse.
Richard Wanker no just no
Enough Jar Jar backlash.
@@thomasvolsin2422 why? Jar jar is a terrible character!
The legend of Cock Knocker
"Jar Jar Binks?! Now that ones gotta be a mistake!"
Mark being savage as usual
no he was being honest if Jar Jar walks into a cantina there would be no cantina left
I can’t imagine the amount of heads that the “Luke Starkiller” joke went over.
not a lot of heads though, its common knowledge among the fans
filthy casuals
Hardly any of them get the Mork & Mindy reference either..
Yeah
lee Roberts Hello there
Haha you can tell this bit was written by a hardcore Star Wars fan.
MASTER3XPL0D3R7 No it wasn't, Luke only blew up Death Star once
Especially when the list had General Grievous, Count Dooku, and the most hated Star Wars character in it. Definitely written by a hardcore Star Wars fan!
Twinkings I *THINK* , he meant Luke Starkiller...
@@convoyds there was no list for most hated characters what are you talking about?
More than likely it was colbert himself. 😂
No one in the audience got the Starkiller's joke, SAD
Fuck off
Yes yes we all know star killer was luke original name before geroge changed it
It’s not a very well known thing, not that sad
If it weren't for this comment being about Star Wars, I would say it looks like a Donald Trump Tweet.
I thought it was a joke about the EU being non-canon. I seem to remember a Starkiller in there somewhere.
"that's not a unit of time"
lmao! XD Most underrated joke.
do u mean lmfao
except that it IS a measure of time... Parsec literally means "per arc second"
Since time (t) is the measuring stick by which you judge length or distance, either by parSEC or lightYEAR, it is by definition a "unit of time." Do not forget that TIMESPACE is an inseperable continuum where you calculate one by the other.
You have let the dark side influence you, young padawan, and clouded is your mind. I realize you have recently taken an introductory class in Astronomy and read in your text that "a lightyear is a measure of the distance light (c) travels in a year," yet how can you be blind to the measurement parameter of YEAR? You have made no observations and cannot see what is right in front of you. (parSEC/lightYEAR)
In truth, EVERYONE in the world references inches, feet, miles, meters or kilometers as functions or units of time: (a foundation of mathematics): x per second, x per minute, x per hour - each is simply a measure of the distance/length/space Earth has travelled in its spin.
Consider this - without the spin of Earth, there would be no time or at least we would measure it differently (if the length of an Earth YEAR changed, then so would the calculation of a lightYEAR, because it's an arbitrary and anthropocentric measurement of how WE measure the distance that light travels according to OUR PERCEPTION OF TIME.) You cannot know one without the other and when you measure one, you solve for the other. Everytime you drive a car in mph/kph your linear perception occurs in multiple dimensions through spacetime even though you seem completely unaware of it. This is not immaterial, this is how we realize the material. Perhaps you should not dismiss as pedantic, that which mathematicians for centuries have regarded as foundation. Continue your studies...
@JediNxf7 parsec is unit of distance ( Solo said he made it in 12 parsecs wasnt about time, but he found a shortcut to make it to destination in 12 parsec). A parsec is obtained by the use of parallax and trigonometry, and is defined as the distance at which one astronomical unit subtends an angle of one arcsecond, (wikipedia) which is 3.26 LY , which is a distance not time, @hudson kasko is wrong in this debate
Mark Hamill is Luke Skywalker and the Joker. How much more of an icon can someone be?
He's also Fire Lord Ozai. So, even more, I guess.
Harrison Ford is Han Solo and Indiana Jones.
10,000 Subscribers without Videos Look up Jaden Smith
Kirk and Denny Crane. :)
He could be vary more Iconic if he had a cameo In every Marvel and DC movie
Starkiller was the original name for the skywalkers. Nice reference👌
Clara Erso yeah me too!
It's also the name of the first order base in the force awakens "star killer base "
it is also the first order base (scorcher55_ said that part already) and Starkiller was also the code name for Galen Marek from the star wars the force unleashed games
Konsti SomethingMore I know that
@@scorcher55_69 jarjar abrams references dont count(IMO), and if it wasnt so "moar nostalgia, MOAR!!!!!!!!!!", it probably wouldve been called darklight or suneater base... maybe even cyclops moon
Mark Hamill is a gift we don't deserve.
Jexxer But the one we need
"Luke Starkiller" Wait a minute! Wasn't that the original name that was pitched for his character before they changed it to "Skywalker"?!
yes lol
Leo ...and someone gets the joke. :) this piece was full of those inside jokes - great stuff!
Leo Starkiller is a whole other cononical character.
Brendon Owens Are you talking about the guy from the Force Unleashed games? Because if so, that's not who we're talking about. Another thing I'd like to point out is that the games aren't actually part of the canon. They're talking about "Luke Starkiller". It actually was Luke's OG name before Skywalker. I think they said it sounded "too harsh"?
Brendon Owens dumbass doesn't get it, talkin about you btw
"JarJar Binks? That one has to be a mistake!"
Well played, sir! Very well played!
cus there is theory say stayt dat jar jar binks is a evil shit Lord
Trumptards hate the USA
are you a zatsi?
cus jar jar binks supusibly is a😗✌ [shit]h lord
NinjaDag1 I wish he would've said "Jar Jar Binks!? C'mon we all know that's fake. If that's their real name, we know they're stupid!"
From the reaction of the crowd, there aren’t many nerds that night :/ those references were too funny
Yes, I am no Star Wars fan but know about "Luke Starkiller", odd.
exactly LOL
@@RJLbwb that is odd. how do you know about that without being a star wars fan?
"Luke StarKiller" is used because "Starkiller" was suppose to be Lukes real last name in the series.
Glad they changed that!
Brian Moseisley
which they ended up appropriating for the force unleashed games and of course starkiller base in force awakens
Well, Starlord worked in GOTG.
i loved them mentioning that name. *Captain America voice*: "I understood that reference." Some in the audience didn't get it though.
disappointed the crowd didn't get it
Audiences really annoy me: yes, it's Mark Hamill, so enthusiastic applause and cheers are obligatory. But, you can see the poor guy is trying to deliver his lines and yet you keep hollering and stopping him. Shut-up! Save it for the end.
Shut your fucking mouth.
gavsky23 it's a laugh track
No, there's a live, studio audience making the noise. A laugh track (shouldn't that be a 'clapping and cheering track'?!) would be cut-off way earlier.
This should've been made with a comic con audience, at least they would get the jokes.
“Always shoot first!”
That Luke Starkiller reference was absolutely priceless! I wonder how many people actually know the history to that name... 😏
yes you're RIGHT ... Starkiller !!!!
Just heard that. Right before looking for this comment. Where’s our force unleashed 3 Disney?
Frank Teng Um...you mean Episode IX? That's coming December 2019.
Jim Bananoid Oh, he was talking about Force Unleashed 3! He said Force Awakens 3 and I got confused as hell. Lol! But yeah, it's a shame that game never got a sequel.
ChidoriSnake lol my bad
luke starkiller? sounds like a corny first draft kinda name
or a reference to the fact he "killed" two death "stars"
KKbook thats because it is
Third draft, actually
It's a shame no one in the audience got the "Luke Starkiller" reference.
Yeah. it was a good one referencing the prototype name for Luke as well as his alter ego in the Force Unleashed line of video games.
On the light side,. that just proves it's real audience laughter and not dubbed in.
One guy got it :P
mystichdx That's because they're not a bunch of geeks.
That was great. Well the Cantina security got tighter after some guy had his arm cut off by a light saber and then there was a gun fight later and there’s debate of who shot first so they had to get more strict.
Poor Ponda Baba, that was his drawing arm!
Not enough Star Wars fans in the audience; not NEARLY enough laughter for the Luke Starkiller reference!
I played AS Starkiller in the Force Unleashed.
brainflash1 You're still not getting the reference lol Starkiller was the original surname for Star Wars protagonist in the drafts and scripts. It was then used for Force Unleashed and the base in Force Awakens.
the audience didn't appreciate any of the jokes
hsmoscout The fact that I did makes me feel like a nerd...
Mark Hamill does a great Alec Guinness impression
David Parsons and a good Harrison ford too
A lot of the jokes are deep cuts
But we do know what Luke was up to in the 30 years between Return of the Jedi and Force Awakens. He was fighting Batman in Gotham.
You don't want to wear black suit or cape around this Luke dude. He obviously hates them.
4:17 That Alec Guiness impression!!! And Star Trek lol!!
I feel like there was a missed opportunity there at the end to say "use the forks luke"
Marc Boyer
Ha! Yes!
bigpimpdaddy69 that’s pretty neat my favorite character is Peter Griffin. So funny
damn, that would've been cool too lol
“...Try the fried porg, it’s delicious! And don’t forget to use the forks Luke!”
I consider this clip canon.
[Switches tabs to edit Wookiepedia‘s Randy entry.] [Dies alone in basement.]
Hey Luke, your hand's back! HOORAY!
César Madero Robotic hand, fake skin.
GET TO DA CHOPPAH!
I'm assuming the fake skin got burned off when some ding dong blew up his jedi academy with him in it. ;)
p.s. Yes I am talking about little Benny.
On the flashback you could actually see that he had his robotic hand without any 'skin'.
ruclips.net/video/Td4AQZMTkTQ/видео.html It's here.
OBJECTION!
Lando blew up the second Death Star!
YEP! 🤣
Don't forget Wedge.
OMG! I was waiting for him to say Starkiller!!! :D :D
When luke said "I blew up the death star, twice!" I half expected Colbert to say. "Soo you're a terrorist?"
Luke must be like, the Star Wars equivalent of Osama bin Laden.
TheFreePantheist he should have said "I thought you were a Jedi, not a muslim"...!
But he only blew up the first death star.
@@octaviancaesarhibernicus4447 xD
Lost it at Jar Jar Binks
Me 2
FieryEasy everybody else would be activating their lightsaber and be like *EXCUSE ME*
They should have shown him finally going to Tosche Station to get some power converters
Jar Jar Binks that's got to be a mistake lol.
Ah, the Dark Side's not so bad. I hear they're offering UNLIMITED POWAH!! right now.
Luke has no comprehension of the POWER of the Dark Side's HOT SAUCE!
It's so werid hearing him now I don't hear Luke Skywalker all I hear is the joker
zane brown eh, if you listen closely, the creaky old-man voice is pretty remeniscent of the pitch of Luke's whining. 😛 It's kind of adorable.
Only true star wars fans got the luke starkiller joke
Devin Graves I'm soooo glad someone else got it!!!!
Devin Graves wasnt it his original name before skywalker?
John Locke yeah "The Adventures of Luke Starkiller"! Haha
Yup
He does sound like the Joker a few times ^^
sexes
Yeah, like when he was trying to do the Jedi mind trick.
Most of the crowd hasn't seen episode IV. They have only general knowledge. Hamill's Guiness impression was awesome & sadly lost on that audience.
Mark Hamill + Stephen Colbert means I gave this a like before even watching it.
you might want to, yeesh.
Lmao at the Jar Jar joke, extra funny coming from Hamill
ZArTassaTul it was SO GOOD!!! 😂😂😂
Ewoks were worse. Much worse.
This is canon and Disney will forced a spinoff movie based on it.
Namida hopefully lol
Namida Oh come on, that won't happ- never mind it already happened
For anyone who doesn't understand the Starkiller reference, it was the original surname George Lucas created for his main character. It went on to be used as easter eggs as Darth Vader's apprentice in the Force Unleashed games and in the Force Awakens as the Death Star replacement.
Hey, that's nerd's cool uncle and awesome hero Mark Hamill!
