  • This is an informational video about our experience staying at Secrets Moxche, about 7 months after it opened.
    We "show & tell" you about the pools, buildings, rooms, restaurants, bars and service.
    We will have a detailed video about the restaurants and bars, as well as, one about the different room options to choose from coming up soon.
    Our opinions are our own based on our experiences. As always, things can change so please do your own research.

    Recent Subscriber. Looking for your input on a Adult Only destination for three couples all celebrating the 50 B-days. Not looking for over the top luxury but food and a minimal chair game would be our biggest wants. Would love your expert advice. thanks

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi! Thanks for subscribing! 😊
      In the Cancun area I would suggest club level oceanfront swimouts at Excellence Riviera Cancun. No need to ever find a chair as the swimouts are right onto the club pool. Food is good quality and the service standards are high.
      I also liked Secrets Maroma better than Secrets Moxche so I would look at that one as well.
      Club level is less important at Secrets resorts than at Excellence for chairs.
      Iberostar Grand Paraiso is excellent for quality and service. If you want to hang out and relax as friends it is a great option but it is a quieter resort than the previous two. Food, drinks, and service are great at the Grand.
      Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya is also a good option although they are still working through some "growing pains" as they changed from a Secrets to a Hyatt.
      I know fewer resorts in the Dominican but in
      Punta Cana I do really like Excellence Punta Cana. The service is not quite as good as it's Mexican counterpart but it is an exceptional resort. I would again book club level to avoid any chair nonsense.
      Hope that gets you started! Congrats and enjoy your trip!! What a great way to celebrate turning 50. 🎉

    Hello! I’ve never been to a secrets resorts. We typically go to Sandals. What is the tipping expectation at Secrets Moxche?

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  Год назад +2

      That is a hotly debated topic and it is influenced by where you are from.
      Tipping is supposed to be included but there is an expectation of extra $ for the service staff. They will not hold their hand out for it though.
      It is fairly common to see a couple of $ per round of drinks and a few more $ for meals but it really depends on how many people are in your group and how well the service has been. It is totally up to your discretion and how you are being treated as well as what your budget will allow for.
      We found we tipped the most at dinner because the staff was excellent in the restaurants.
      The beach and pool servers were hit or miss and mostly a miss. We ended up going to the bar ourselves and tipping the bartender directly. They were great!
      Hope that helps a bit.

    What was the resort capacity when you stayed? Looks pretty quiet. Maybe early morning

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  Год назад +1

      I do try to film early so as not to disturb too many people.
      They told me they were at 80% occupancy while I was there but I'm not sure if it was truthful.
      Restaurants were all full in the evenings and the activities pool had many participants for the games and sports.
      Impressions Moxche was pretty empty while we were there as they were still in a soft opening. Now that they are open fully the pools will be busier, for sure. 😊

      I have but it was before I started making videos about our vacation experiences.
      They are definitely comparable in service and food.
      Moxche is more modern and larger.
      Akumal is more traditional and has a much better beach.
      Secrets Maroma is still my favourite. 😊

    What are your recommendations for a resort in this area with great beaches?

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  Год назад +3

      I like the beach at Secrets Maroma or Secrets Akumal for this area.
      You can also look north of the airport at Excellence Playa Mujeres. I love their beach! These are for adults only.
      For families, I would suggest Finest.
      The seaweed is really heavy this year so none of them will be crystal clear.

    What,s the difference between the secrets maroma?

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  6 месяцев назад +2

      Secrets Maroma feels a bit smaller. Much better beach and no Impressions Buildings there.
      Moxche is more modern and the man made lagoon pool is great when you don't want to deal with any seaweed or critters.

      @@newtravelescapes wich Is better?

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  6 месяцев назад +2

      @@ivanvargas6590 It really depends on what you like. I personally prefer Maroma.
      To me, it is classy & sophisticated with great service, good restaurants, and a fantastic beach.
      Moxche is modern & sleek. It offers Impressions (if you want that). The service is decent around the pools but better in the restaurants. The restaurants are good. The Speakeasy is great!
      Beach is not nearly as good as Maroma.
      Lagoon pool is unique.
      If they were both the same price I would choose Maroma but that is because it is a better fit for what I like. I also like that Maroma is well established so it runs like a well-oiled machine. 😊

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  Год назад +3

      I guess that depends on what someone thinks of as 'fun', for certain.
      If plenty of sports and game-style activities are 'fun' then I would say Moxche is fun.
      If a foam party with music and 'shots till you drop' hit better then probably not.
      If the latter is more to your liking then I would look at Valentin Imperial Maya or Breathless Riviera Cancun. 🙂
